welp looks like as many of us has predicted, NDS is going to come back with a totally new personality LOL!https://twitter.com/seonhohappy/status/1332198918419955712
I'm not happy but I'm not sad either if it makes any sense. Maybe I'm just tired.
The way HJP cried halmoni and hugged her in ep 12 is similar to young dalmi running to halmoni hugging her and…
I don't really care about the love triangle but I find it really hard to digest the romance between the two leads. It almost feels like I'm being force-fed with their cute fluffy scenes as well as their so-called 'emotional' scenes and yet, I can't seem to feel anything for them at all.
I felt so indifferent to them that I find myself wanting their scenes together to be over as quickly as possible so that we can move on to the "actual plot".
the fact that this drama's potential got wasted so harshly, is sad. it could've been one of the best of 2020.
Exactly. A comment I came across conveyed the feeling well :
This series had so much promising start at the beginning - how they build each of character with their struggles and how they start they journey as start up, just for the writer throw all that aside to trash bin. It seems like this series is only enjoyable when you want a romance type of drama, where all goes cherry blossom and rainbows.
Kids, later when you go to work don't punch your supervisor/mentor when they do their job as in stating the truth. They will sue you for workplace violence. Owe up your choice. You can't throw temper tantrums on someone just because things didn't go your way.
Never mix personal matters with professional ones because that's a sure shot recipe for downfall & miscommunication between coworkers. lt's even worse when you let your emotion take over while making an important choice. And it goes without saying by now but "Always read the contract thoroughly" before you sign it.
I don't have any expectations about how the writer would connect the business theme at the end, but the amount of them romanticism surrounding the SST trio's unprofessional behaviour is unsettling.
The realistic & critical characters being painted as the bad ones who ate guilty & the only ones who need self reflection really bothers me.
Injae's step father and step brother literally demand Samsan tech to "collect data" instead of letting them work on building the algorithm as promised for investing on Noongil. That’s being a jerk.
And Jipyeong giving review of the real situation & all the possible obstacles waiting ahead if samsan tech continues pushing noongil project, it's being rational. Learn the difference.
And it was JP who bailed them out of the situation involving IJ's step dad. So he deserves their gratitude & even if they don't wish to do so, going ahead & punching him is definitely out of the line. Which alien logic can explain this scene ?
And apparently even after 3 yrs, the character dynamics remain the same. So why bother with a time skip ? Just to make the ML ride on a yatch & return as a successful man.
I loved this, I'm so disappointed how this story is going...
Exactly. There are so many unrealistic scenarios in this drama that I don't understand how it is supposed to be a 'youth motivation' story. It is just a melodrama at this stage.
For instance the NG app gets popular after the baseball player who took a fan photo with DS gives an interview to a TV channel, regarding an app, which he had no idea about - before being contacted by a person who is supposed to be the cousin of the boy he took a photo with almost 15 yrs ago.
This could happen in a drama but what about reality ? How do you expect young app developers to be motivated by this ? Should they line up to take pics with stars to promote their app ?
In a sense it is like giving false hope & painting a dream like reality. We don't have to make a fantasy out if everything. WYWS had enough of that genre. SU could be more realistic but against all hopes it turns into a fantasy.
Read this on AsianWiki & felt that it was worth sharing.

Seems like the writer really copy paste Dream High formula to the plot of this drama. A vulnerable girl, then conflict with her best friend (sister), babysat by a competent guy, and finally end up with a genius boy. Exactly this cliche and fantasy-like story. Yeah, added by bizarre execution on their part.
Their fundamental mistake is they seem not able to grab what their targeted audience mindset are. Dream High is set on high school, and targeted for teenagers with no-worry-be-happy mindset. While the tittle of this drama is clearly targeted for young adults who wanna know about how startup field works. And when you become an adult, obviously you'll become more realistic and have more mature mindset. So nothing weird if the backlash for this drama is quite severe.
One of all things that bugged me so much is their mainstay motto, sailing without map. I dont know if they looked down on startup field of work or what, but I felt professionally insulted every time that sentence was said and translated into their actions on set.
I'm not saying that motto is wrong, but you need to be aware that it is privilege for someone who already has good foundation. Its certainly not for immature "startup" sailors who can't read the wind and the stars, dont know technical aspect of their ship, and simply just have a genius swimmer among them. Sure, with some luck it may be able to take them to Grand Line, but more often than not, just like Han Ji Pyeong said, they'll end up eaten by the shark of crushed by the storm.
Its like telling a noob chef: lets cook some food without recipe, and pray for luck so we can impress Gordon Ramsey with it.
I know right, let the man live, fall in love with someone else and for that someone to choose and love him. Asking…
I agree. If they are not going to end up together anyway, he could have tried to date a good person who loves him for who he is. But humans don't lose hope till the end.
Its definitely a sad trick that destiny played on him.
i was so excited to see another kdrama about running businesses with a touch of romance, but i got the exact opposite
I expected it to have the vibe of 'Search WWW' but it gives 'She was pretty' feels.
So the #Business & #Personalgrowth tags were just click baits. As the drama progresses, the characters are losing their unique appeal & turning into typical cliché characters.
Especially DS. From a refreshing nerd / geek ML who is shy, introverted, optimistic, committed & kind hearted, he turns into a excessively protective bf, who is rebellious, emotionally driven, overly idealistic & impractical. This kind of characters development is a complete let down.
what's the purpose of injae in this drama honestly
IJ is there to help DM whenever necessary & sometimes even becomes the emotional punch bag / motivation behind the reason why DM can't afford to lose.
It is similar to JP's role in DS's life.
The success story of IJ & JP is not glorified as it is arguably "ordinary" & "expected" whereas the success story of the leads is projected as " unique", "innovative" & "altruistic".
This is the perspective of the writer. So we can either accept it or reject it but we don't have the right to change it.
It can be a better & a more well rounded story if it doesn't get itself tangled in drama clichés but we have already come too far to be hopeful.
I'd rather have Dal Mi & In Jae running their own company with their father's legacy than her end up with SST…
"Dal Mi & In Jae running their own company with their father's legacy"
That would be a reasonable & satisfying ending. It would be amazing if their company is ranked high in employee benefits (as the sisters understand its importance due to their father). Their mother & grandma will be proud of them & we'll hopefully have a happy and healthy family.
JP could be their family friend & DS can be whatever he wants, given that he won't hurt JP physically or mentally.
I don't know if I'm the only one but KSH looks like Park Seo Joon at 0:57 in the video. The scene where he gives that look to DS before having that fist fight.
For my part, the only relationships I am interested in are JP and DM's granny, and DM and her sister. There was…
"The need for Korean writers to romanticize everything even when their story has more potential than that exhausts me"
Couldn't say it better. There are many popular K dramas which do not revolve around romance like Signal, Stranger, Liar Game, Prison Playbook, Misaeng, Doctor Prisoner, Circle, etc
Romance as a part of the plot is refreshing but if it over shadows the plot itself its regrettable.
Someone wrote this comment on Swoon's video of KSH as the SLS. It perfectly sums what I think about HJP's character.…
Even if people don't like JP as a character, no one can deny that KSH did an amazing job at portraying JP. He gave life to the character. We feel so relatable to JP that every time he cries & laughs, we too do the same.
In other words, we might not like a particular song but we can't ignore the talent of the singer. Good singers make every song beautiful.
This was really funny. She thought that Seon Ho is the brain of 2DN1 & Din Din steps in to advice her not to get confused by his character in Start Up with 2DN1.

KSH : huh... that's almost impossible because I went to EXO concert and I think I will never be like EXO

I'm an EXO-L & wish that KSH would be as popular & successful in K dramas as EXO in K pop.
