In my opinion its not like people want to ship JP-DM but its more like they don't have a choice as they can't ship DS-DM (try as they might).
Their lacklustre romance feels awkward, rushed & makes me wonder if I skipped eps in b/w as I couldn't understand when / how their feelings progressed to the level where they couldn't get over each other. Were they lovers in the past life ? Was the cherry blossom leaf a reference to "Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms" ?
This is not a typical case of SLS where the audience accept the OTP but feel heart broken over the SL. In this drama the OTP itself lacks popular appeal making the SLS stronger & the disappointment unavoidable.
I don't like it when everything is ready made, packed & served. It feels so artificial. I want to go through the emotions with the characters. That's the reason we watch dramas. In that sense, this drama failed in the romance part.
If we combine all the clips dealing with the business part of this drama, I wonder if it will exceed 2/3 eps. Then on what basis are we supposed to rate this drama ?
The only well executed part is the 1st ep, DM's dad's arc, Director Yoon, the idea of Sanbox, JP & his relationships with the other characters especially Grandma.
IJ's character was a wasted potential. The gowth of the SST boys was not shown. The 2nd romantic track too feels bland & forced. The revenge plot was executed so badly that it doesn't even deserve a mention.
Overall, this drama is literally a 'makjang' disguised as a youth motivation business based romance.
Just a reminder that not everyone who likes HJP as a character are JP-DM shippers.
We just relate to JP as a character & can be fans of KSH. I don't think any of the above reasons need the approval of a third person.
You can support your favorite character & you have the freedom to criticize the character you dislike. But you don't have the right to disregard or disrespect others opinions. So please comment only about the fictional characters not real people.
I think one of the main problems is this comment section has become way too personal. A lot of people on here…
How do you know that they "personally hate" DS (a fictional character) ? Even if they do it's their problem. Why are you worrying about them ?
If you don't like reading certain comments, try to ignore them/ just block them.
You can share your opinions, perspectives & analysis of the drama & participate in the discussions. Why are letting others stop you or is it just you stopping yourself ?
I just finished episode 10 and I'm slowly starting to dislike Dosan. He refused Alex's offer before over a silly…
Exactly. Is it too much to expect from an adult to separate his personal life from professional one ?
If you are an emotionally driven, overly idealistic & impractical person who isn't capable of making rational decisions, how do you expect the investors to trust you & invest in your company ?
You ought to face the facts sooner or later. The society isn't a Sandbox. You don't get to play all day.
You can choose to direct your frustration at the person who stated the facts in an unpleasant tone but that is just venting out to make yourself feel better / like a macho man.
His impolite attitude is his problem & you don't have the right to interfere in his life. What he did can be justified as his job as a mentor but how would you explain your actions ? There are many harsh judges (like Simon Cowell) but you don't go rebelling against all of them. Just pick up the useful stuff from their criticism & work on making yourself better.
The sad part is that they don't show DS contemplating or reflecting back on his behavior. This is not acceptable.
Can we have less NDS scenes now & give them to WIJ instead? Like, the writer has probably written NDS gone for…
Some comments here said that JP was a typical lead who is smart, rich, arrogant but soft hearted and cute inside. Now I don't think we can say that DS is any different, can we ?
The drama definitely started out well but the characters are losing their charm & being inconsistent. JP's character is well received as it is the most comprehensively written & consistent one in the story. His character is no where near perfect but it makes sense & is relatable.
DS is said to be a living buddha but his actions don't reflect that. He is not in control of his emotions.
DM is the CEO & desires to be better than IJ but she can't convince her team regarding the shares distribution. The programmers in IJ's team were said to be better than the SST trio - So why did IJ get the lion's share in her company whereas DS gets it in DM's company ?
Who says that people who cry easily have a high degree of empathy? In many cases people turn on the waterworks to avoid confrontation when they know they are in the wrong, or to GAIN sympathy/empathy from others. It can be a calculated move and doesn't necessarily mean that the person understands what others are going through or connects with them on a deeper level.
Do San is a sorry case. He started the fight with Ji Pyeong because Ji Pyeong gave his honest take on the situation. An unfortunate situation that their cockiness and pride found them in; giving unbiased harsh advice that Yong San asked Ji Pyeong for. He throws the first punch and then has the nerve to spring Halmoni's loss of eyesight on him, adding that she did not want Ji Pyeong to know. Well, sir, I recall her asking you not to tell Dal Mi either, but you had a problem sticking to that! Do San picked the one that worked for him, spilling the beans to Dal Mi early on because this paved the way for him to be her knight in shining armor. No way could he just make the app and keep the diagnosis private as she asked, how would that benefit him? Instead, he chose to tell Dal Mi the truth and keep Ji Pyeong in the dark. Until in his arrogance, Do San messed up so badly that he needed Ji Pyeong to bail him out.
I've resigned myself to the fact that I will not like Do San, there are just too many red flags. From his insecurities, manipulative tendencies, to blatant anger issues. I can't ignore them. How many close-ups of Do San's clenched fists were shown? Until finally he followed Ji Pyeong and attacked him. Had the roles been reversed, this comment section would be full of DoDal stans claiming harassment. I just want to say that it is not always the person trying their hardest to be seen as good or selfless that is best. Often, the most giving people go without applause or overt attention.
Throughout this drama I have not seen Do San give up anything that really mattered to him. Not once has this happened, and though he claims that he'd give up on Dal Mi should she choose not to be with him, we see shortly after that it is a lie. Do San isn't a selfless person. He doesn't mind letting certain things go because they are of no consequence to him, but should they matter? He'd be unwilling to make the sacrifice, and as we've seen, becomes downright violent. I can't help but question what Dal Mi sees in him.
Whereas, we are shown that Ji Pyeong understands the value of relationships, but is willing to operate truthfully and selflessly. My boy went back to get that letter. My boy went to those offices to save them from making the bad deal. My boy put his feelings aside to give them a solution that would HELP their business and not drain them financially and emotionally. Ji Pyeong is the best boy, going mostly without thanks, but still doing the job. There aren't many others in this drama that I could say the same of. Certainly not Do San who needs everyone to know how great he is at all times. I'm over it.
This is an unfair assessment because the playing field isn't even. How often do you see a love triangle, where…
"Truth of the matter, the writer, and the characters in the show has consistently made sure that HJP almost never has even a moment alone with SDM, while at the same time goes out of their way to put SDM and NDS in romantic situations."
Can't agree more. If this is not a cruel trope to engage the audience, I don't know what it is as I don't see any of this happening in real life.
dosan in no way a perfect character, he is still struggling and makes choices that may not be the best but that…
This is convincing. It hurts precisely because I understand but can't bring myself to accept it.
I think I am the one who needs character development. I have to think with a mature mindset. But does being mature & understanding guarantee a happy ending ?
*my overthinking brain needs rest* I watch dramas to relax but what I have I gotten myself into ? It's time to let go. *takes a deep breath in & slowly exhales* It's better now. Have to repeat the breathing exercise.
https://twitter.com/seonhoppa_/status/1332258723817930752?s=19NEW CLIP. This is depressing. She is obviously still…
The strong characters in this drama are going through a downward spiral.
1) Saha being a professional lawyer & interpreting a seasoned investor's inhibitions about an "acquisition" contract as means to break apart the lead couple. How logical was that ? Coming from none other than Saha, an independent, rational & facts over emotions type person.
She knew how clever the SST trio are in dealing with business & trade as they bought a book from her at the book store for almost 5 times the market price. How could she believe them to handle a matter of millions in just a few weeks following that incident ?
2) DM's character is inconsistent to say the least. She was obsessed with the DS in the letters for 15 yrs. Until a few days ago she told Grandma that if she had to choose one, it would be the DS from the letters. It shows how much the letters influenced her & how much those memories mean to her.
But when she finally meets him, its no big deal. She isn't curious about anything & just forgets everything as if it never happened.
I would make sense if her relationship with DS was so deep that she forgets her first love. But her relationship with DS started with her believing that he was her first love.
It's like following your favorite singer (say X) for 15 yrs & finally meeting him. You tell him that his songs helped you cope up when life was difficult. You are thankful & eventually (as destiny has it) you start to date him. You like the new heart fluttering feeling & even when you discover that he lied to you regarding his success story, you understand & forgive him.
After a few weeks of dating & more heart fluttering & touching moments you discover the truth. He was not the singer. He didn't write those songs. You feel betrayed & coincidentally meet the original one (say Y).
Y is not a stranger. You knew him. How would you feel at this moment ?
A) How could I not identify him when he was so close to me ? Why did he hide the truth ? How could he dare to play with my feelings by asking someone to pretend to be him ? Were those lyrics real ? What kind of person is he ?
B) Why should Y be the original one & not X ? X may not be able to write & sing like Y but he cares for me. That is all I need.
DM choose option B. Then why didn't you date all these years ? There are many smart, caring, successful & good looking men. You looked down on them comparing them to the DS in the letters who is "perfect". But suddenly your standards change.
>.> How do you explain this ? ^^ It's destiny & the cherry blossom leaves. >.> But... ^^ On whom did the leaf land ? >.> DS ^^ He is her destiny. Fate made the paper fly to DS making him top the IMO & feature in the newspaper. This ultimately caused him to be the DS in the letters. >.> I get it.
Woahhh....are you watching the same drama or you are too much biased towards nds to make up anything against others??
Wanted to clear up a misunderstanding & found a comment explaining it well :
One of the comment here says that Han Ji-Pyeong did not take the money but asked her to put in bank to use it to make money and then ran away. NO.
Han Ji-Pyeong had 2 million won with him from the orphanage which he used as investment. So, he did use grandmas account but did not touch her money. Grandma was expecting only 8 million won at the end, it was that much . It is clear because he asks grandma to apologize to him not god when she thinks he left with tin money. He has a lot of pride he would not used it.
Grandma knows he is honest that is the reason she says it is his money and she did not take it. Yes grandma gave him shelter , food and kindness that he is grateful for and deeply ashamed that he suspected her of taking his money away
