LOVED this series, maybe my fav bl of the year?! Thankfully I read the comments before starting and had the expectations of toxic situationships, so it didn't really bother me. I mean the poster kinda says it all lol The stylized cinematography and editing were my exact cup of tea. And everyone gave amazing, raw performances. 10/10 acting.
Based on comments and reviews, I was expecting it to be unbearably dark, but this was a pleasant surprise. More bittersweet throughout than anything. The color grading and cinematography were also really well done
Some of y'all mentioned this was just a bromance...I've been bamboozled!! lol I've only got 2 eps left but coming into this with no expectations and thinking there'd be little chemistry, what a lovely surprise.
This couple has wayyy more chemistry than most of the bls out there. If they like each other, date, and kiss, that's gay and definitely not a bromance. I also just love their personalities. Even though Taishin gets on my nerves with all the over apologizing and pouty form of talking, they're both cute and unproblematic with each other. Really liked this one for the chill vibes.
amazing cinematography and sound design, could not get enough of the beautiful colors in the intricate interiors and settings! I loved the main lead; she did a perfect job depicting mania and the wide range of emotions that made this such a memorable movie. this is worth the watch!
2 things that irked me: too many s*x scenes and an almost pointless investigation arch. That investigator guy was such a bore with his pseudo-intellectual soliloquies.
y'all I wish i didn't see this... I came into this blind with no knowledge other than it's considered to be a cinematographic masterpiece. But the in _cest, YUCK!!! and not just once but twice🤮 I get that it was trying to go for a twisted vibe but the same result could have been achieved with something more interesting and palatable. This "artistic" decision felt really gross and lazy
I was catching up on ep 7 but that was the final sign for me to drop it. I was hopeful at the start, but besides what everyone has already mentioned, Gemini and Fourth's characters are just not the best in this.
The issue is probably a combo of the bland dialogue, pacing, and acting. There's nothing that stands out in this remake other than the few changes made in eps 1 & 2. Gmm and sponsors were probably putting their bets on the IP to draw people in, and it worked for me. But after the initial excitement died, their blatant lack of overall effort makes this hard to watch.
yess i love the minor changes they made too 😭 it flows with their version of the story so well idk how there…
ikr i'm not even a real GeminiFourth fan (i'm lazy with my pfp lol) but the characters are pretty much the same, maybe even a bit better in this version! their delivery/acting in itself is prob where it could be improved, but it's still fun and a lot better than some of the other bls coming out
I havent seen the jap version of this, but the thai version is ok for me. Its not great, but acceptable. I think…
Fr though I'm typically a critic and yet it feels like a lot of fans of the original are hating this remake too seriously 😭 it's prob as you said which is the dedicated GeminiFourth fanbase mixed with high expectations from the original. It's somewhat justified and I love the original Japanese version more of course, which I 100% recommend, but this remake is actually still rly fun and enjoyable!
Surprisingly I like the small changes and tweaks this version made to some plot points. Unlike a lot of remakes these days that we end up hating, this isn't the same exact story regurgitated beat per beat (at least for now). Plus, they managed to still stay true to the original Japanese version which is a masterpiece.
I really like how they switched up the build-up and execution of the play! I could honestly rant about that alone but that's for another time. Same goes for the new starting P.E. scene. It keeps things interesting!
That Atom fell in love with a person in two chapters? But that can not be. If at least the episodes were 45 minutes…
I get where you're coming from. Atom falling for Kongtap feels slightly fast considering it's only ep2. I haven't been keeping track of the time lapse between the initial eraser incident and when he told Mudmee about him liking Kongtap (was it days, weeks, or even months?)
But I don't recall at least in this version that he was ever confirmed as identifying as straight. If that isn't assumed, there's several reasons that I think it makes some sense he fell in love again fast. For one thing, it only took a minor act of kindness to spark his attraction for Mudmee, which can just as quickly fade away. Also, his love for Kongtap grew because he saw many small actions over time that showed he is an empathetic and genuinely good guy. Plus Atom is a kid - they're known to fall in and out of love fast lol
this will be interesting if they can hopefully tweak some of the downfalls that His Man has! a month is a much better amount of time, and I hope they implement a better way of gauging who likes who. Plus Tokui, from Terrace house will also be a host I'm guessing, so it should be extra entertaining!!
love the movie, it's so cozy and has been my comfort go-to movie ever since the first watch! the manga is amazing as well, I hope they can nail their beautifully soft and wholesome relationship in this series ❤️
Looks like they did the same thing again. I enjoy competitive shows such as this, but they really haven’t put…
Completely agree - I ranted a lot of this in my review, but the women contestants, in this season especially, felt like background characters or team burdens. This was because all challenges were geared toward upper-body strength.
Also, there are still by far less women recruited to begin with, so that in itself decreases the odds of them winning.
there is a catch though, hatano is apparently also in love with mob, according to those who have read the mangabut…
Oh no, really!? I haven't read the manga, but adding a new character for a love triangle is def a common bl trope so maybe it makes sense 😭 I hope they're still endgame too!
A lot of comments are about how this movie felt pointless or that there seemed to be no plot for them, but I don't agree with that at all. Of course, this is just what I got out of it, but I think the theme was simple: secrets. A lot of the characters had secrets. Some unraveled slowly throughout the movie, others abruptly. And some were never uncovered, even after the end. It was interesting to see how their secrets affected their outcomes. I don't want to spoil anything, but the different gravities of their secrets added more depth beyond purely killing.
