I think the logical thing is to follow what a drama production has decided to bill as number one, two and so forth. Novels and dramas are different things. Adaptations can be very different from source material, so following a novel to list cast is not always going to work.
I know everyone is eager for their wedding - me included. But I have to say, I'm glad this drama actually has a story to tell, and it takes the proper time to tell it. We have 2 very young people growing up throughout this story - learning about themselves, each other and human nature in general. Real life is messy. Living in those times was even messier. Much as I'd love to see them crush all their enemies - it would realistically take time and with a lot of mistakes along the way.

Yes, if the novel is what the drama is following, Tao Yao is a complex character - not your typical sunny, carefree innocent little girl. Like you said, she's thousands of years old and with a lot of backstory. My impression of her is indeed a tomboy, eccentric but ultimately fiercely given to her life's mission.

Yes, this is where we first meet Si Jingyuan. His soul left him and got switched with another girl’s soul (I think he was trying to help her because of some demon). It’s a hilarious scene when “he” wakes up.
