Finally finished - a beautiful if heartbreaking ending to wonderful show about what can endure the ups and downs in life, in such a world filled with danger, fear and hate. Only love - in all its forms - as enduring as the moon.
By the comments this seems to be a hit or a miss. It seems some people continue watching it for the kick of it…
It's reminiscent of older, way too long angsty xianxia dramas. I've enjoyed bits here and there, and if you are a fan of Yuxi you can check it out. The first 4 eps or so are kind of a mess, so if you can make it to 5 when their second life starts you can get a better sense of the story.

LOL, my thought exactly. The endless back and forth at Suyu mountain was getting on my nerves a bit. I need more plot movement. But I'm gonna finish this too.
On ep 27. Finally the Suyu mountain stuff is done - it did drag a bit for me. Waiting for them to find out who Mo Xiao really is - it's taking a while.
Yep, it's consistent with the many other stories of this kind I have seen before. It was already foreshadowed from the opening arc - and darn, I really wanted to see it go a different way, but the writing and story made sense. Have yet to actually watch the last 4 eps, but I can guess from the comments how it goes down.
Xuanye sent a letter to Shendu to let the officials there know about Xingxian. Not sure if it will be shown what happens to her, but one can assume she gets exposed and caught.

To me, every arc has had multiple layers to it. On the one hand, they are somewhat separate stories where we meet various demons, but they also serve other purposes as well. The owl demon was a great opener - it set a distinct mood and brought Xuanye into Banxia's world (or the other way around depending on how you take it). And each arc was connected somehow to the following, which is a nice touch in the writing. The pear/mirror arc and the puppet one culminate in the painting arc, which serves as a sort of mini ending to the finding BX's parents storyline.
The final section (or close to final) of the drama introduces XY's demon brother and it is overlapping with the snake arc so far. The parallel storylines actually are thematically linked (masked identities and the discussion of what is good or evil). Looking back at the other arcs, you can see more thematic and character development overlap as well. For example, in the painting arc, where you have the discussion of what is real or not real, you have the simultaneous blossoming of our leads' love for each other. It's all of course open to interpretation/discussion, but that's how I've been seeing it. It's a fun, overall well-written show, but it can be a bit overlong and "wordy" in places.
