Can't believe it's almost time to say goodbye to Lost You Forever. Despite all the changes - some I liked, some I really didn't - this story and drama was what brought me to MDL in the first place last year. It's been really fun to discuss, complain/rant and enjoy with you all this really great story, brought to life by an amazing cast and crew. It's nowhere near perfect, especially this second part, but it has made more of an impression on me than many other dramas out the the past couple years.
He officially divorced her. There’s a scene where he leaves her locked away in a place by herself (33:17, Ep…
I think it's clearer in the novel. Privately, he officially divorces her. Publicly, to preserve reputations of the clans involved, they announce that she dies of an illness. Before that, she offers her blood to the Tushan clan god/spirit/not really sure what but to the clan in general; however, she is not executed.
I forget all the details, but Jing arranges to have her live in Qingshui Town so that once every year, her son can stay with her for a bit. I forget if the elders knew about that or thought she died. It was mostly for the boy's sake that he spared the parents' lives (particularly FFYY's).
FFYY was heavily guarded, and Hou had no power or resources to get back at Jing. The only way they could get Jing was to lure him there using the boy, and in the novel, it was CX who supplied the muscle and means for Hou to get rid of all of Jing's guards. It's mentioned in dialogue briefly by Grandfather to CX when he asks him "did you do it, CX?" Not very clearly shown.
It's way better laid out in the novel - another annoyance of mine towards the drama. Jing guessed that CX was behind it the moment he knew his guards were gone. He chose to have the duel with Hou near a source of water so he could escape, knowing he would never win an all-out fight directly with Hou. However, Hou knocked him out before he could make his escape. The rest of the scene with FFYY killing Hou plays out pretty much like what's in the show.
So to go back to CX, if they change it to Xinyue actually arranging the assassination with FFYY, I really don't get it anymore. Xinyue wouldn't want to assassinate Jing - she would maybe want to get rid of XY. But that's not what FFYY does. So I'm just confused now and have to see the next few episodes to see if they can pull it off or if it just is what it sounds like it is - a hot mess.
not watching it yet... can someone tell me why is the rating "low" right now?
It's definitely not as smooth as far as the story telling nor as faithful to the original novel as season 1. It's still overall a decent watch, especially if you saw S1 and would like to know how it ends. It was filmed at the same time as S1, so same cast, production, etc.
I say that with about 5 more episodes to go, so it can still crash and burn.
I'm preparing myself for some mental gymnastics where I live in an alternate universe and this leaked script is…
Agreed. I think they wanted to condense things, but these two plot points are major ones in the last part of the story and sigh, really shouldn't have been combined.
Ok I saw a spoiler clip on weibo (not sure if these are official trailer clips looool) but it is when CX confronts…
I'm preparing myself for some mental gymnastics where I live in an alternate universe and this leaked script is not true and that even while watching it unfold on screen, I will refuse to accept it. LOL, ugh what a mess this script is. I always liked how collected CX is - he only broke down in front of XY.
Why exactly would Xinyue want to assassinate TSJ? Shouldn't she want him alive to take XY away from her precious CX? Unless she told FFYY kill XY, but FFYY decided to change the plan? I'm already laughing.
Is anyone going to wait for remaining episodes to be out before binge watching??? Or taking on 1 episode a day…
I'll probably have to wait, going to be on vacation with family and won't be able to watch. If not for that, I'd probably just watch every day haha, no self control.
I would think Jing has XL's endorsement to be the one for XY since XL himself cannot be with XY. 🐍👍🏻👌🏻🦊Otherwise,…
I agree, this second season had the opportunity to develop Jing and XL and their mutual respect for each other more, but it's lost amid the numerous scenes of jealous CX and jealous Xinyue. It's disappointing, and CX deserves better too.
I agree that the drama has added some new scenes (ones that are not in the novel) that make XL and TSJ seem like…
Yes, I get from the novel a lot more apparent respect between the 2 of them. It's there in the drama, just not as plainly, which I agree saddens me. It's a missed opportunity in my opinion, but oh well. Another thing to knock off this more lackluster second season for me.
Yeah, the previous 4 episodes were a bit underwhelming, but man, I was almost shaking by the time of the last…
Yeah all the cast are great. It's hard when you have no lines and you just stand there and smile (i.e. Jing in some of the past few episodes. And all Xinyue can do is throw more cups onto the floor). The writing is uneven, it's weird. Maybe team B did the Haoling arc when team A wasn't available lol?
