Maybe the drama does portray him in a tad bit gloomy but the novel explored more of Jing’s thought process. It does say that behind his every behavior or inactivity for revenge is a courageous move. It takes someone brave not to pursue or rage against Hou because Jing doesn’t want to repeat what his mother or grandmother did to his beloved Hou( Jing does love his brother). Hopefully, season 2 will explore and explain things Jing does has a noble reason behind it.✌🏼

I don’t disliked Anian but she is an entitled princess. She is kinda a bully. When she was in Qingshui town, the incident with Ma Zi and his wife, they apologized for the accident but she couldn’t let it go. And just because Anian has higher spiritual power she thinks she can just push people around and asked her maid, Hai Tang to do all the dirty work for her. She also got sucked into, by XL, to “punish” XY when she thought she lost her father and her Gege. Yes she maybe funny but still a big NO with her and Ru Shou
My take on XL: he always take one step forward and TWO steps backwards🤦🏻♀️. He can never have the girl because he sees his future as a sacrifice for his mentor. Remember his goal in a life or 9 lives is to die for Chenrong. The reason he ingest so much poisons is ultimately to use his toxic body as a weapon. And that is what happened to him in the end of the novel😭😢
