Like the poster, Susan said it all depends on the people who translate. There are a lot of nuances in mandarin that gets lost in translation. Certain dramas and certain Viki’s team are great and some not so good. Wetv is kinda ok but they get “lazy”, imho.

Thank you for this post but what I said about flying around, I meant true martial arts, one on one fights, not the fine tune spinning around, “fake” fighting choreography like a lot of current historical cdrama. Most of them speak lousy mandarin, don't enunciate their words and gets dubbed by VAs. It quickly takes me out of it when you can’t even deliver your lines properly .

I have to say I’m not much of a historical/fantasy, people flying everywhere kind of drama watcher but this has me at a choke hold.
I appreciate the pacing of this storyline. For me there are no fillers episodes because this story feels normal, like everyday happening. Supporting characters don’t just disappear or become irrelevant. They all have a backstory, history of their life even briefly uttered in a sentence. Yu Sheng, Li Fei Bai, Gong ShuYang, Lv Sheng, Lu Chang Fu, Yuan Fang, Duke Hua and many others.
Even Consort Dowager’s hometown is from Lingan, a place Qin Cang came from tells you there is a connection.
Director and screenwriter don’t let us down. 🤲🏼

And also consistency as in the character. She doesn’t get love-brain that she accidentally forgot she has an illness. It shows when she is happy, unhappy, stress, depressed, her illness manifests itself. Bai Lu plays her character well.
