I agree. She plays a pivotal role in the story. Her selfishness does the following:1. Allows YXW to realise she…
So true, but wish the writers would make her a smarter villain.... She's self-motivated - yes... opportunistic - yes... but if she was smarter and more of a challenging/interesting character that would have made the dynamic more fascinating.... imho

Maybe start a FAQ in the Recent Discussion section so future and new viewers can refer to this topic and not continue repeating the same question... just a thought.
Just out of curiosity, do you feel the same way if the woman is being the abuser? Iβm seeing a lot of comments…
Yes, both ways.... I saw trailers implying she would be subject to abuse so that was why I mentioned it. I still haven't dived into the drama so can't speak to women abusing men... But in general, I'm not into abuse of any kind... my poor heart just can't take it... π€’
After two years this drama still gives me so much feeling, and I still go back to listen to the music and even…
Firstly, I wanted to thank you for sharing your comments and interpretations of the events in the drama here. I've relied on them to better understand the sequence of events as I was often confused by the character's actions. Your explanations helped me better understand the story and from there my appreciation for this drama grew... I have a question regarding Episode 41 that I hope you can enlighten me with. If Gu Jun did not sacrifice himself to save Hochi and Hochi's body died, would Shang Gu have died as well since Hochi's spiritual vein was severed by Wu Huan? I've been pondering this question many times and couldn't come to any conclusion. Looking forward to your thoughts.
So I started watching this cause it was trending and received some positive buzz... but the weak plot (many illogical happenings) and the FL becoming more clingy is disappointing... Yet, I continue to watch cause of the ML... interesting when the ML has a bit of dark/even toxic streak in him (vs the righteous, goody two shoes ML)... the ML's acting is good.
I am disappointed in how the FL's character is cast. I like both FL and ML actors but there is no chemistry between…
Some people like the FL in this drama (Chen Yu Qi), some people don't like her and feel she was mis-cast as the FL. I have seen, or tried to watch, her other dramas and have not been wowed... And, It's not always her acting... I just find that she's missing the charisma factor. And, it's also not her looks... there are actresses who aren't beautiful but can be very charismatic and convince me that they are that character in that story. I watch dramas for the story, characters, and plot and not for the actors themselves... just me and IMHO.
As expected, the characters of the FL/ML are different from the novel. In this filmed version, the ML is less…
Couldn't they make the ML ruthless and likeable? I like heroes who are flawed and imperfect vs the perfect character. Makes it more interesting and the story less cookie cutter...
