You’re absolutely right. This was an accurate depiction of the history of Joseon and it was just heartbreaking. I guess when we watch dramas, we want to escape from reality and see satisfying results.

Totally get that the character is young and naive but would honestly prefer him to be with a mature actress in a mature role. He was amazing in Autumn Ballad with that FL

I just finished episode 1 and I’m not thrilled that Jeremy is once again paired with such a young looking actress. She’s 24 looking 16. I know he can’t help who they decide to cast but why are the mature looking actresses not paired with him? This FL is ok to me so far. Her acting can be better because next to Jeremy, she needs to improve. Hopefully, she’ll prove me wrong later.

He’s been running most of season 1, huh? 🤣🤣🤣 I didn’t realize until you pointed out all the times he dipped. I meant when he went undercover. He asked if she could love him and forget her past love, but the heifer said no. It didn’t make sense why he would infiltrate the enemy’s camp and risk his life just because she rejected him.

Ah… I get it now. Yea, those were great reasons why she couldn’t back out of the marriage. Ok, I blame all on Ryang Eum then. Homeboy lied when she still had the chance to back out of the marriage.

- I absolutely loathe tree king. He’s disgustingly narcissistic, paranoid and incompetent. I’m not a fan on the Crown Prince either. I’m on ep 13 & they can both die for all I care. I’m just confused with their relationship. The Crown Prince worships his father but the King is now acting like a delusional tyrant.

- I know our ML left in the first part bc he felt the FL didn’t love him but like WHY? Why go to the most dangerous place?! I don’t believe he did all that just to avoid her, have her miss him or simply bc he was curious about the Crown Prince. Something is off.,

- The motherfucking marriage to the damn Captain. Wtf? She could’ve asked ML to help her find a way to break it off. She could’ve been brave to just tell the guy - yo! My boo thing is alive so let’s cancel this shit. But nooooooo!! She married him just to be a good wife. It’s so hard to continue to cheer them on at this point

You got a great perspective on this! It is indeed refreshing and interesting to see war through the eyes of the civilians. I’m hoping the second part will not disappoint! So far, I’m confused about a few things ( please see below)

I’m so used to watching Cdramas with insane political and battlefield conflicts so when I saw how this portrayed this particular Joseon era, I was so disappointed

On to part 2! Let’s hope we are given a satisfying ending because I’m so disappointed right now.

Very true. We didn’t see the progression properly and they shifted the focus on Detective Jang and Song Chan. He did indeed become a side character.

I’m on ep 6 and I am obsessed with the series BUT I’m getting frustrated with the lack of skills on Joseon’s side. I mean, come on! The Mongols are just kicking their asses left and right. There’s no defense whatsoever. The Island was supposed to be the safest place, yet the Mongols rowed their boat ashore and slaughtered everyone. Wtf?

I’m only on episode 3 but does Gil Chae get better? She’s incredibly annoying so far and her looks are just average and personality is incredibly petty yet they’re making her to be this majestic beauty no man can resist.

Totally 1000-% agree with you. Uneventful indeed. That’s a great way of explaining it. I felt underwhelmed by it all. I think there should be a season 2. I would love to see Detective Jang so jaded by the criminal justice system that he goes on to aide Lee Tang and craft him into a killer

Roh Bin & Lee Tang needed more time to kill bad guys. I wanted lee Tang to experience more of his instinctual power and really get into this killer role. I wanted more of a cat and mouse game between Detective Jang and Lee Tang instead of focusing on Song Chan. They had potential to create this phenomenonal character out of Lee Tang but it fell short.

For once, I felt 8 episodes were too short and didn’t allow enough time to fully develop the storyline or characters. It wasn’t satisfying considering such great actors and a great premise.

Agreed. It’s the ML who is the most toxic. The other men who loved her treated her with respect and kindness. I also ranted before you on this matter.

Were the abuses you mentioned in the other series from the ML though? Because as you continue to watch, you’ll’ see how truly abusive the ML is to the FL. Just keep watching.
