For anyone interested in watching some great historical romance Thai dramas meanwhile waiting for this I recommend Love Destiny (Bpoop Phaeh Saniwaat) , it’s also about a woman traveling back to the past. Historical Thailand (Siam) sure is very fascinating! I gave Love Destiny 9/10, so it was a awesome watch. It was a huge hit when it aired back in 2018!

The trailer is just…wow. It’s such a pain to wait a long time for an series (that you looking so much forward to) to start airing, but it taking such a long time is usually a good thing especially when it comes to historical dramas because it means that they really have done properly research, put whole heart and soul into the drama and really been careful/accurate with the traditional clothing, setting etc etc. I rather wait longer for a drama I anticipate than a short time because if a short time there is a big risk that the drama will not turn out as good, that it’ll be rushed , not very accurate and messy. it took like 2 years(?) for Scarlet Heart Thailand to air which is a bit too long lol but it’s all worth in the end because by the trailer it looks so well made and thoughtful , and a masterpiece! They really gave it all 100% when making this drama, being completely serious about this project :) it really shows!

And I love that. I was already pretty sure that they would use Chinese only because the 4th prince here has no scars

Is the first ep legit good? I know it got high rating but like ..does the comedy feels over the top/slap-stick kind of comedy/very forced comedy …?? I don’t like when something feels unnatural in dramas /tv series . New Japanese dramas are usually like that, the older ones (1990s- 2000s were much better in my opinion..felt way more natural ) .

Ji Chang wook is amazing and I heard Imada Miao is amazing too..but when you have a director who wants extreme humor and having the characters behave unnaturally/ over the top with crazy expressions etc , even Wookie and Imada Miao would have to follow what the director says… but I’m thinking since the director is Korean, their acting feels more realistic and not crazy over the top of humor like in so other new Japanese dramas? Maybe it’s too early to tell, but did the first ep have some kind of depth (which I find lacking in new jdramas) ?

Don’t get me wrong , romcom kdramas can be also over the top (not necessarily a bad thing, just not for me) but usually there is still some depth. Like as much as I dislike Strong girl Bong Soon there was still depth.

I didn’t think I would like the movie version better (since it’s much shorter which means more rushed etc ) but the movie is way superior to the kdrama in my my opinion ….even tho I’m a huge fan of Ji Chang wook

I don’t expect any masterpiece or something groundbreaking, and i believe this drama is not even supposed to be that. I expect many cliches but that’s ok … this drama could still turn out great as long as there is lots of heart put into this with great chemistry between the leads. As for the acting , well that’s not something I have to worry about as the actors here are very talented.
Please let this drama be much better than Ji Chang Wook’s ”The Scandal” which I had high hopes for but sadly I didn’t love it…it was quite dissapointing tbh

I’m curious about the movie Untold Scandal …I want to watch it today, but at the same time I want to be unprepared/ not knowing what will happen in The Scandal when I binge watch it on Friday. If I watch Untold Scandal I will know the whole story in The Scandal … ok I know there might be many differences, but still. Hmmm… the dilemma~

Ji Chang wook has become one of my favorite actors over the years! Not just because he’s super talented (and fuckin handsome) but also because he is not afraid to take roles as non-flower boy/pretty ML! He doesn’t mind playing MLs with facial hair who are not traditionally ”handsome”, respect to that. Some actors wouldn’t dare to be in roles where they aren’t allowed to look all pretty / flower boy-ish

Haven’t watched the original.. but this is going to be interesting since Korea is so strong in Hierarchy/age .. like respect the older no matter what etc .. so I look forward to this one when the much younger one will be the boss! It’s I guess going to be a bit complex ? Since while he’s the much older one but STILL she’s the boss!

I’m looking sooo much forward to this!! Not just for the romance but also because of the story as it’s partly a true story since the Japanese invasion happened irl .. and the Japanese were so horrific back then, they did many cruel, evil unforgivable things😱😱 it will make me learn a bit more about the history… Bridal Mask and Chicago Typewriter (2 other dramas set during Japanese invasion) are not available for me anywhere to watch atm … I hope this exciting drama will be available for me to watch :)

He’s one of the best Korean directors out there .. he directed among else ; Secret Love Affair, Something in the Rain, One Spring Night…etc.

Yes! China faaar from great country BUT is actually great in that sense that they execute adults who raped children —execute … in public too. So I respect them for that, at least. Korea, Japan could never… the child rapists just get a slap on the shoulder maybe 2-3 years in jail then they already out free…

China as bad as it seems there (no democracy etc ) at least care genuinely about the children and their safety
