I love they don't try to show in your face as clearly as possible who is seme and who is uke. If this would be a typical BL, then Ae (seme) would be the one who is rich, handsome and tall, while Pete (uke) would be the one who is poor/middle class, average looking and short. xD Also Ae would be the more experienced one but he is not.. Pete is (Pete knew about his own sexuality perference before meeting Ae,he has been in love and been kissed before meeting Ae, while Ae never been in love nor been kissed, he probably never even thought about his own sexuality perference.. so not ur typical seme-uke couple).. Not saying this drama has no stereotypes at all, but this drama is a breath of fresh air compared to many other BL dramas IMO. I doubt Ae would ever sexually assault/force himself on Pete , which is a great thing. And Pete, while innocent and all, has shown that he still has sexual desires and he doesn't try to avoid physical contact nor tries to pretend to be disgusted like "don't touch me", which is also good IMO..
and the fact also that I'm-not-gay-only-for you thing is so refreshing, Pete has been in love with other men before he met Ae, and Ae has NEVER been in love until he met Pete, so I don't buy it when some say that Ae is only gay for Pete, because he never been in love with EITHER of sexes prior to Pete... Anyway, I love this drama sososo much, I hope it will remain good until the very end. <3
I was looking forward to watch this drama due to its interesting plot, the name of the drama and the picture of its 2 main leads with the evolution of apes. I thought the pic and the name of the drama + the plot matched all so well together and was really unique! A modern love story of mature adults with touch of feminism + strong independent intelligent female lead? longtime friends who falls in love with each other? sounds like my cup of tea!
But after reading the comments here I have honestly now lost a bit of interest in watching this. By the sound of it the characters are immature, the male lead is a doormat all the time and the female lead is selfish and only settles for the male lead cuz there is no one else or smth like that... if this is true then this drama is not for me after all.
It sounds to me like only Shen Yue’s voice is dubbed. Her actual voice is deeper and more mature sounding. But…
well that sucks.. just because Shen Yue's voice is not "innocent" doesnt make it right for them do dub her voice... i can just imagine how she must feel like when they tell her "hey you sound too mature so we are gonna dub your voice" :/ (its not even her fault to begin with that she sounds like what she does) ...kinda makes me loose a bit of interest to watch this to be honest.
will start watching soon, hopefully they will not include the disturbing scene where Dao Ming Si sexually assaults/ hits Shan Cai (like in the original MG, I know its also included in the manga ).. Maybe they will not include it since this is a updated, more modern version , and y'know .. time and mindset changes. maybe back in 90s/early 2000s it was more "acceptable" wth sexual assaults? But not anymore.. I think its a lots thanks to MeToo. I read some comments saying that the bullying is less extreme, which I really like. :)
But what i did like about the original MG was that Dao Ming Si was so madly , passionately head over heels in love with Shan Cai... by his facial expressions, body language and actions -- it spoke volumes that he can't live without her. I think out of all versions, he was the one who potrayed a man in love the most well . I also liked that there was some sexual tension between him and Shan Cai, their chemistry was amazing! and the kisses were great too~ I am curious how this version is gonna be like when it comes to Dao Ming Si's love for Shan Cai, how the dynamic / chemistry between him and Shan Cai is going to be like.. If there will be any sexual tension and passionate kisses (I think not, since the actors are younger if I'm not mistaken) Looking so forward to watch this one!!!^ _ ^
I think you're talking about one of Kathlene. E. Woodwiss novels, she was the one who started these bodice rippers/…
Yes. Exactly...kathlene. E woodwiss (the flame and flower, the wolf and the dove) , Christine Manson (stormfire), Rosemary rogers (sweet savage love) etc... Sawan Biang was indeed too horrible , but i heard slap and kiss dramas such as popular kleun cheewit is pretty ’light’ compared to sawan biang... gotta watch it someday, heard many great things about the female lead in that one :)
I couldn’t have Said it better myself. I hate this Lakorn and makes me so mad whenever I think of it...the worst I seen so far, makes me wanna puke. I hate when they glorify kidnapping / rape / torturing. Thanks to sawan Biang I was planning to never watch another thai drama ever again. . People are Ofc allowed to love this Lakorn, nth wrong with that (as long as they actually think that rape and such is unacceptable IRL), But it made me uncomfortable watching this one even though its just a drama... I gusss Sawan Biang is like a typical trachy american ”romance” novel during 70s/80s...Actually Sawan Biang is based on a old thai novel (from 60s/70s? Dont remember), and i guess during that time Thailand was a very sexist society where women were supposed to be all pure and innocent with No sexual desires, and forgiving and kind as a saint.. while men were supposed to be all mascho , aggressive and dominant to be seen as ”manly” with extremly high sexual drive. So, if there is gonna be sex involved, Ofc u can’t then make the woman be willing (cuz women with sexual desires are BAD *sarcasm*), so better make her someone who thinks sex is disgusting and try to push the man away when he wants to have sex with her.. i guess during 60s/70s Thailand the ideal thing (at least in litterature) was for the man to be all heels over in ”love” with the woman / crazily madly in ”love”,to the point that he cannot control his sexual desires anymore and ending up raping her .. like a Wild beast, kinda insulting to men too LOL , its like telling men that they always think with their d*ck instead of brain ..My other guess is that in the 60s/70s if a woman was raped in Thailand , better marry the rapist cuz she is already ”tainted”... sorry for my long ranting, Im just writing what i THINK :) Im not thai so i could be wrong...But this is what i get impression of after reading a few articles about the slap and kiss genre... I get the impression that many slap and kiss Lakorns are based on old thai Novels...Novels that was written during a very sexist period.
Good thing that koreans take this seriously and that this kind of matter is not swept under the carpet.. this is not 1950s after all. Seems to me like South korea is more forward thinking than other asian countries when it comes to sexual harassment...
Being drunk while acting like that is no excuse, if one becomes aggressive / dangerous while drinking then that person shouldn’t drink. I’m slightly surprised ,Lee Seo Won is only 21...
To make myself clearer, I’m not asking if this DRAMA will get a third season, I’m just asking if the novel (written by BitterSweet) will have a third one? =)
Jin Ah is so spineless, it's frustrating...Why is her character regressing in development? She had finally started…
Finally soneone who sees in in same way as I Do! Im so frustrated with her.. fine I really understand that in asian countries family comes first, I respect that.. But that doesnt mean you have to dump someone kind , sweet (who even has a DECENT job) because Your family doesnt approve? When him not having a good family backround is not even his fault ?? He has Done so much for her after all... even willing to get fired from work, But she just cant even fight for him just because her AWFUL mom hates it??
So the ML father killed the FL parents? How in the world can they become lovers again?? I can’t seem to see…
But i guess their love will be so deep... I mean, still being in love (or falling in love) with the man whos dad killed Your parents .. Thats some deep love. .
