Awesome list, I couldn't make a better list than you. If I ever made a top 10 list of my favorite badass female characters I would put Tsukushi Makino from Hana Yori Dango s1 & 2 + the final movie on the list. It's one of the Boys over flowers adaptions based from a popular manga... meteor garden(taiwan), hana yori dango(japan), boys over flowers(korea), meteor garden 2018(china). Anyways I have only seen the japanese and taiwanese version, I like the japanese version better... I watched HYD during my younger teens and its one of the first dramas I seen, so it will always have a Special place in my heart and I think Makino is really awesome.

She is so strong and won't take any crap from anyone, she stands up against the bullies and stands up for those she cares. Also when she kicks the ML at the beginning is very cool :) Makino never gets weak as the drama goes on (which sadly happens in many other dramas), she stays strong until the end.. She won't even take any crap from the ML's mom, which I find refreshing. I just find Makino very admirable, she is also charming and has lots sympathy /empathy and never gets bitchy,but still is cool af! Maybe HYD is "childish" but to this date Makino is one of my favorite female characters in dramaland! I haven't bothered watching the korean version despite its huge popularity because of what I heard about the female lead Jan Di, she seems to be much weaker than Makino.. As for the chinese version, I read lots of negative comments about it and that the female lead there is not really that awesome either. Maybe I should still watch those and not let comments affect me so much, but idk... I don't have any interest as for now to watch those... Who knows Maybe in the future. Anyways I enjoyed reading your very insightful post! :)

I have no idea either why some find it hot... And I agree, shouldn't definitely be romanticized. I don't mind rape in shows - as long as they don't romanticize,but instead that they actually show it as something terrible and problematic. But seems so common in asian BL having rape (and it being seen as "romantic" ) ... I hope as you that in the future asian BL will represent more healthy relationships (I have no idea how common rape is in western BL but I guess not as common as in asian BL...)
Also some nice spoilers about LBC *don't read from here if you don't want to be spoiled:)





The main couple has a very beautiful relationship, and their first time is 100% consensual.., the "seme" Ae even avoids at first having sex with the "uke" Pete (even though he wants to have sex with Pete so badly) 'cuz he is afraid that Pete will get hurt..but Pete assures Ae that he wants to have sex with him. More BL couples should have like that too, making sure with each other that both wants sex equally as much ... :)

LBC is a wonderful show overall so you should definitely still watch:) The show includes 2 wonderful couples... Ae and Pete (the main couple), Tin and Can (the secondary couple which is the most popular couple in this show.)

The last ep, ep 14, I watched the scene and it made me feel discomfortable, one of the reasons I couldn't give LBC 10/10. A lots of people fond the scene so hot, but I fond it anything but hot.

Maybe you should try watch the prequels "I Need Romance (2011)" and "I Need Romance 2012", IMO theyre even more racier than this one :D

The first half was so good but then in second half it started getting a bit slow and annoying IMO. Well all in all it was a good read, its the first BL novel I ever read anyways. Good but not mind blowing aweaome...I look forward to this drama, maybe OffGun can potray the feelings/emotions so well that I come to love the drama more than the novel...

apparently to the writers, realism = when in relationship one of the partners will always cheat at least once in their lifetime towards their lifetime partner. B*LLSHIT I say! Is cheating supposed to be a final test or smth ?? like if you truly love your cheating partner, u will forgive him/ her , otherwhise you never truly loved him/ her ?? IMO you can forgive your partner most of things - except for cheating, murder or abuse, etc. I'm not looking down on those who forgave their cheating partners, absolutely not! I'm just saying that if the writers thinks that you don't truly love your partner for not wanting to be with him/ her after he/ she cheated on you, well they are clearly dumb then... You can truly love your cheating partner even if u dont take him/ her back, just means you have self respect and know u deserve better :)

Some say Korn was on drugs hence he cheated on Knock, but I don't know...Neverthless, they ruined one of my fav BL ships :/ I cannot stand cheating, maybe - just maybe - if Korn was heavily drugged, without his knowledge - I MIGHT have given him a pass, but it was never cleared out if he was on drugs or not

If this had been only about Ae/Pete and Tin/Can I might have given it 10/10. I fond the 2 side couples Kengkla/Techno and Tum/Tar completely pointless and whenever they appeared it felt like I was watching another show. Zero development (I know I know, LBC had planned for a second season , so those 2 side couples would probably gotten more development/more screentime...) My biggest problem however is the romanticization of rape/attempt rape and manipulation...

I know LBC is based on a novel , it makes no sense to me... The author created Ae/Pete, where they had consensual sex , Ae even put Pete's well being over his own desires and made sure Pete really wanted to have sex with him (which is very admirable!) So I thought here is a author who is against rape/ attempt rape but I was wrong. Kengkla raped and manipulated Techno, I felt very uncomfortable watching the rape and morning after scene, was I supposed to be turned on by the rape and was I supposed to find the morning after funny when Kengkla manipulated Techno? Because I didn't the slightest, all I felt was disgust. Kengkla is a horrible human being, I could never root for him as a character, so there is no way I could ever come to like him and Techno as a pair. And then we have Tum and Tar, poor Tar was once gang raped and then Tur - who seemed all nice - turned to a completely different person and tried to rape Tar, like wtf???

It makes zero sense to me why the author who created 2 wonderful main couples (Ae/Pete and Tin/Can) - that are pretty healthy relationships in BL standard - had to create 2 dysfunctional creepy side couples (Kengkla/Techno and Tum/Tar) , sometimes I wonder if its really the same author who created AePete and TinCan who also created the 2 side couples lol.

I'm reading the novel meanwhile waiting for this drama to be out. And I'm in love with the novel, its such a emotional roller coaster! Now I am even more hyped about the drama!!! I know there will be some uuhmm scenes from the novel that will be cutt out from the drama lol, but I really hope they don't cutt out one particular scene (I dont wanna spoil which one) because its a very important scene... The novel has some surprising twist and turns :D such a great novel!

Now that I think about it, I think that in Our Skyy we get to see the TRUE Arthit, in Sotus he was hiding his soft loving side because he was the head hazer. In Sotus S he was hiding it because of fear of what people would think about him being in gay relationship. But now,, in Our Skyy Arthit can finally be his True self, because he is not a head hazer anymore nor is he anymore afraid of what others will think of him. :) I love this Arthit the most <3

Finally got to watch full Kongpob/Arthit ep with subtitles, it couldn't have been more perfect <3 Arthit has came a long way since Sotus S for sure, I love him even more now :)

Its funny how Kongpob / Arthit seem to have more sweet/intimate moments together in Our Skyy, which has only 1 ep of Kongpob x arthit .. than in sotus S which has 13episodes of them lol xD well just shows that Arthit really realized his mistakes and wanted to make a change (be a better bf), but i can still see in the trailer that Arthit still is being Arthit, meaning, he didnt change COMPLETELY to the point that he feels like another person (u know, OVERLY sweet and romantic, that would not be Arthit lol). I like that Arthit changed, becoming more affectionate and caring (it would make me dissapointed if he was still exactly like in sotus S), but i like that he didnt change completely.. It feels very realistic- Arthit has definitely become a wonderful bf to Kongpob! :)

I wonder if the kisses between Song hye kyo and Park bo gum will look awkward... because of their age gap, Song hye kyo is married AND park bo gum is very close to Song hye Kyo's husband. Lets wait and see^^

the rape of Kla/No was the reason i couldn't give LBC a 10(nothing to do with the sad TinCan ending.) I hate when they romanticize rape. :/ Its hard for me to believe that the same author who created Ae/Pete who has consensual sex (Ae was even putting Pete's well being over his own desires due to fear of hurting him) also created Kla/No lol

it makes totally sense to me everything you wrote.. but then again i'm not obsessed/crazy about TinCan so... I don't dislike them together, but their relationship felt a bit rushed IMO... maybe if there would be a s2 and we got to see more of TinCan, to see how their relationship develops etc , then maybe I would come to love this couple. Anyway, back to the point... I think some are being too harsh to Can, he clearly has no experience in love and relationships AT ALL, prior to Tin he has not have any romantic feelings towards anyone, never kissed etc... probably never even thought or been interested about love.Can is also very naive and childish, thinks that love is a big hassle and rather just be friends because its much less complicated.

Everything is too sudden for him, its too fast for him... i don't think he ever used Tin, he clearly is in love with him, just not ready yet for a relationship. he's a confused mess because he is so completely new to this...Damn i really wish there would be a s2 to see for exemple more about TinCan, because who knows, maybe they would turn out to become one of my favorite couples... sorry for my rambling lol
