Yes, your middle para, you got it totally right. That was Gu Man's overall main plot. She just reversed the rich…
Definitely. We really didn't see much of QJJ personally after the second rejection. Though I was happy to see him deal with moving out of that patriarchal mindset of "what can I give her".
I was also looking forward to see where the financial distress line went, and nowhere, that's where, it went. Everyone seemed stable and happy with no discussion of finances or lifestyle changes. That part of the premise started feeling like a waste.
I was hesitant on starting this because I'm not a fan of either Reba or YY. This ended up being a pretty cute drama.
My feminist heart wanted a deeper discussion on how this is an unusual dynamic for cdramas. It's like they wanted to reverse the age old rich ceo guy and helpless damsel trope, and only managed to do it halfway. They handled it well, though more serious discussions mixed in with some of this light fluff would have been very interesting (and something actuallly new/rare for cdrama land).
Expect the usual propaganda at the end, the show might as well have ended at ep 30.
So I've finished episode 3, and I truly have mixed feelings about whether or not I should continue the drama.…
I think this drama was at least interesting up till ep 12 or so, at least how they explored him getting out his shell because of his disability. But after that, the fact that he is a popular lyricist has no use in the story. Like they completely forgot about that plot device. The parents flip flop their attitudes, his background storyline makes little sense, it felt a bit disrespectful to blind ppeople in some regards. I lost it around ep 18 or so when he forces a kiss on her. I made good use of my FF button after that, and if you're looking for a healthy relationship, this is not it.

I definitely agree with this. I felt that too. Honestly, I think this drama had a great premise, was interesting till ep 10 and just goes downhill after that.
See my spoiler comment for some behavioral details on why i think so, no major plot spoilers.
Lol.. it's a nice romcom. Makes us laugh and smile.. i am not sure about the game coz i am not a gamer. But i…
Wow, so scary... If you think others can't see through the spam on this page, you'd be mistaken. Cheers, have a great day. I hope it gets the ratings you need.
i feel you on this. the main plot is filled with tropes and it's just not enjoyable to watch. maybe it's because…
Please don't apologize. I think you've brought up a fair point, getting into arguments about something like this is really wasting everyone's time. I really appreciate you putting your genuine opinion out here too. That's what I wanted to do, just a simple comment like "hey, I don't quite get the hype", the rather defensive responses got me really annoyed (see the other responses to my original comment). I want to come here to see what people genuinely think about a show, not to be spammed like this.

wow 2.9 is low. even for douban standards where 7.5 is on the higher end. i agree, I also think it could have been much better off with less focus on romance. it's just that the postive comments here look so fake to me. i can't help but be apprehensive if some of these are really fans. do fans here think they can influence views in china? or is it a last effort to gather international viewers for the drama to not be a complete financial loss? that seems like a reasonsable incentive...i guess i could be talking out of my a$$ rn. it feels like a mistake stepping in here. no matter how much you like a show/actors, i don't think it justifies spamming like that.

there's a lot of controversy surrounding this drama because of unfair use of real life situations without asking the real people for permission or giving them any credit. to me this page looks like it has several bots and spammers trying to raise ratings and get international attention since people are boycotting it locally. none of these accounts are very old. please prove me wrong. I really don't want this to be true. 8.7 for this kind of tropey drama? no, thanks.
I'm just gonna call it now. Everyone is hyping this drama up, but if binjin breaks up everyone is gonna drag this…
This. MDL comments section have just become bandwagons with so many defensive comments. I just want to have a look and decide for myself. At least this one doesn't seem to have spammers like some other dramas.
10 eps in, I'm just not vibing with this. It's like every trope in the dictionary rehashed plus some more. The bad dubbing just makes it worse. Yeah I'm not getting what people are finding cute or funny about this show. Maybe for first time watchers? The whole gaming setup is very sus too. Hard drop.
edit: whoa i got replies on this telling me how the repliers enjoyed the show. now, no need to be so defensive. there are high ratings and a sea of positive comments, just let my useless negative comment float here. To clarify further, from the 10 eps that I saw, this is a very typical chinese drama with a popular theme and cast. i didn't expect much from it, but had to see what the 8.7 was about.
Don't get me wrong I love 'Go Ahead' and the love storylineand the whole brotherly love are comforting but not…
The start of this drama is brilliant, but it gets really uncomfortable for me ep 12 onwards. It felt like they were making light of familial love between siblings.
This might have been changed because of China's unofficial ban on time travel storylines
yep. pretty common to see this kinds of "twists" at the end of Chinese dramas. You can clearly tell where the story was intended to really end, so I just never think about this part as actual part of the story.
