Great observation! Now I want to rewatch yet AGAIN, heh. I keep emphasizing how the writing is brilliant, script-wise. The characters are well-rounded, even the bad guys (Hua Shu was not your cardboard mwahaha jealous biosh and Mingqi was intriguing, yes?). Episode 1 was brilliant in its showcase of background, theme and main characters all in 40 minutes. Each ten-parts of the forty episodes was mini-arcs of the main characters' journey.
