An opinion: "Is "Shen Yin" with a Douban rating of 6.2 really that bad? After watching the TV series, I suddenly…
I heard that people who dislike an actor/actress will go vote it down. Take for example, when The Untamed was on. It's Douban rating was 8.2? Something like that. But because of the very crazy horrible scandal with the fanfic site that got banned, many fanfic people who blamed Xiao Zhan (not his fault) went and downvoted the Douban rating until it is very low now. It caused so many problems with authentic rating that Douban now withhold Douban ratings for certain shows while it tabulates and try to sieve out fake or phony-account votes. But it is still very difficult to do this.

And you showed the reason why you didn’t like it with the Hitchhikers’s Guide analogy. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was one of the most eclectic, funniest book OF ITS GENRE during its time, with many philosophical questions inserted in a brilliant format. It was a gem. It generated a whole tradition of satirical “guide” books. But you* didn’t get it.
I can see why you* don’t get TLI now too.
It’s OK. Sometimes the answer to everything is just 42.
My feelings to episode 35 and in light of Fengyin's feelings: https://kisskh.at/discussions/shen-yin/122843-episode-35-the-dream-and-fengyin-feelings?pid=2949087&page=1#p2949087I…

He’s two hundred years old. Two hundred, not twenty thousand, not sixty. That’s like 16 in their years. Cut him some slack. But it’s okay if it’s not for you. Not every drama works for everyone.
Supposedly, true gods don't intervene in the three realms, but I haven't watched ALP or read the novels yet, so…
ALP has completely different vibe, but you can see whom YuanQi got his mischievous streak (from Episode One) from. His Original mother (technically not his birthmother--it's complicated) was a terror.
Yeah, they should've added more to connect the story a bit better especially for fans who have never read the…
You didn't misunderstand. He tried to block the sword, which hurt him. He was injured trying to protect her, but too late. The CGI here wasn't good because they should have shown the slashes. Maybe in the Netflix version???!
REPOSTING for current viewers an earlier post from when the drama was ongoing

Gu Jin’s Flaw I think his biggest fault (besides not communicating with the one he loves) is his insistence to be impartial and "fair." The drama direction did not successfully explain about his Chaotic bloodline and his resistance to be responsible in his youth. Episode 1 covered A LOT and looking back, I think the emotional impact was missing because of its fast storytelling of background, backstory, intro of characters.
For example, I noticed many were confused with the Ghost AhYin's conversation with XiuYan and the Little Boy. XiuYan's words were supposed to relate to the viewers that AhYin couldn't seem to find happiness in her reincarnations, even though he kept trying, and that he was worried that her essence was slowly dying because of that. He hadn't figured out that AhYin must die yet at this point, but if only they added one line in that dialogue to let US know/understand that there was something impacting her reincarnations.
Then the next instant, they showed the very sad GuJin coming through because he sensed her soul mark. The drama direction AGAIN did not emphasize this. Yes, the conversation before that was pretty good--Ah Yin asked who that handsome man was, XiuYan and the Kid explained (the kid telling a myth circulated about AhYin's reason for dying) and then AhYin foreshadowing how she was going to treat such a horrid man. For me, rewatching, I'd have liked a short conversation between XiuYan and GuJin after XiuYan swept AhYin into the Reincarnation Whirlpool. This would set up GuJin's backstory and mission in his current state of mind (instead of being accused later of wandering around for 1000 years while not caring that Hua Shu was Acting Heavenly Empress). Xiu Yan could have told GuJin to give up looking for AhYin (like he did) AND said he should just go back to the Heavenly Realm to deal with Hua Shu (because XiuYan knew how she was). Then I would have liked a few lines of GuJin establishing the reasons he was allowing that bitch to continue for the moment--waiting for FengRan to regain her internal power, how the Heavenly Emperor gave him his last CureAll elixir and how he felt he owed Hua Shu a last favor because of LianFeng's death and her also giving him that ingredient to make that pill for AhYin, and most importantly, that he had felt that soul mark so AhYin MUST be alive.
This would have given the reader some emotional connection with GuJin. The sentence he murmured to the disappearing AhYin was translated as "We will eventually meet again." (Wo men jung hui cai cien tao) I would have preferred the translation "Finally. We meet again." Just one change of emphasis interpreting a Chinese character would make a difference 🙃
