They are by different authors, with different worldbuilding.
In this world, there are several more realms: the god realm and the Netherworld realm. Usually there are Heavenly realm, demon realm and mortal, right? If you watched Ancient Love Poetry, you'll see the same world building of more realms. In today's xianxias, China powers-that-be has given orders that there will be NO DEMON realm, so that's why you don't hear any mention of it, even though they kept talking about practicing demonic powers and these evil black smoke is emanating from their body LOL. In Love Between Fairy and Devil, Dongfang Cing Cang was obviously the king of the demons, but they changed it to the Moon sect or some such name (I forget). It's just to get around the policies set by the Chinese government.
This ML god is never truly strong, I’m afraid. The moment he became a god, he sacrificed 9/10th of his soul…
He does become powerful. He does have a great scene scolding Hua Shu. He does become the lord of all three realms because he is the only true god left (everyone else is up in the god realm, sealed up).
I’m reposting an earlier post for newcomers: Why was Yuan Qi fated to do what he did to Ah Yin.
Remember, Ah Yin is his tribulation. He asked for this. His punishment for wanting to revive Feng Yin is losing Ah Yin. The Rock asked him first and he accepted. Later, Xiu Yan remarked that Ah Yin’s reincarnation misfortunes must be she either have offended a great being, or she is the great being itself. So in a way, Gu Jin is also her tribulation to achieve her Feng Yin demigod status.
When do we see the ML at full power? I'm on episode 2, and right now, he's weak. Anyone can beat him. I don't…
This ML god is never truly strong, I’m afraid. The moment he became a god, he sacrificed 9/10th of his soul power for his clan. This story’s angst cannot be solved by powerful beings being powerful. It’s about sacrifice and the power of giving oneself. They are also very young immortals, so if you’re looking for Bai Jue and Yue Hua’s kind of power, you’ll be disappointed.
Is this a spoiler, or can i read this even though I'm on episode 1?
There are spoiler stuff in there because we were discussing about Gu Jin hatching Ah Yin the egg and its consequences. Don't read if you don't want some spoilers! At the time of discussion, all these were no longer spoilers.
People make it seem that being a true god means you can get rid of anyone at anytime you please. If that was true,…
TL/DR: the major gods and goddesses in xianxia has a Chinese historical and religious meaning. The realms reflect human nature in epic terms so mortals could understand what it takes to better themselves (and maybe achieve immortality, haha). Also, god here is not the Western concept of god. ************
I interpret it this way: this is not the Western concept of god. This is the Eastern interpretation of immortality, where there is a highest point, which is the gods of the gods that they don't even see. Below them are all these realms that we know about, all immortals of different levels and powers. The lowest is the mortal realm.
There a mashup of Buddhism and Taoism in the concept of immortality and the realms. I.E., humans reflect the nature of the gods and demons. That's why in all the higher realms, we see the basic human behavior, except shown in epic form (they live longer, they suffer more for noble stuff, their love lasts for thousands of years, that kind of thing). The gods must have these emotions (good and bad) in order to be involved with their mortal mirrors or they wouldn't be able to be the gods people pray to. So the goddess of marriage must be a romantic who must understand love and pain so she could go around matching couples and "tying them with love knots." It's a very literal kind of philosophy.
The only weird thing is, being mashed with Buddhism, which teaches separation of self from material life, the Chinese then create a separate realm for these gods to ascend to, so they could be done with the mortal world and live indifferently because they are no longer material-minded.
I'm probably clear as mud in this post, LOL. My apologies.
Thanks for the repost!I haven't read the book but based on the drama, I was thinking, do you think if Yuan Qi…
Either way, Ah Yin was dying through each reincarnation. She is part of Feng Yin because of how her soul piece merged into the egg. In fact, if you think really hard and not listen to LuSi, Ah Yin is really Feng Yin, the Hidden God. Think of a seed floating in the wind and it lands on a part of a dying tree. This is the AhYin egg, which was damaged and really would not have lived. The seedling was "healthy" and being magical, was able to survive using what it could to sustain its life. However, the branch WAS dying (as was the egg, being only half-life and demon-damaged), so seedling/Ah Yin was going to die no matter what.
The ironic thing is, Feng Yin, being an anomaly, WAS going to die anyway. She was never supposed to survive because according to the heavenly realms, there could only be one fire phoenix at a time. That's why Feng Yuan was so carefully nurturing of the egg-shape thing that encased Feng Yin (hey, EGG again!).
So Ah Yin was also an anomaly, having been able to hatch. Everything echoed each other in this book, as you and I have been discussing so much. Ah Yin was a dead deal, and so was Feng Yin, in a way, but for our dear darling Bendan Hero, Gu Jin. He wanted to save Feng Yin, so made a deal with the Magical Rock of Life. He then wanted to save Ah Yin and gave her half his immortal essence. Then, when Ah Yin the lotus were really, really, really going to die, he went ahead and gave her his last part of his god power. That made her return as Feng Yin even more possible, and with some super powers (demigoddess) no less.
So, in both cases, Gu Jin/Yuanqi killed and birthed AhYin/Feng Yin respectively. It's crazy how clever the author was. Right?
I wrote this a while back when the drama was still ongoing:
Ruminations 1 While We Wait for 2024 Three things Gu Jin owed Hua Shu to make him unable to punish her: 1) He mistakenly thinks he owes his life to Hua Shu during that time when FengYin saved him. He's unable to get past this gratitude. 2) He owes Hua Shu a favor when he asked her for the ingredient to make the magic elixir for AhYin. Hua Shu asks for his help in a future date. 3) Hua Shu's husband, Acting Heavenly Emperor Lian Feng, gave Gu Jin the last bottle of magic Cure-All for Ah Yin. Later, he died without this magic Cure-All. Hua Shu blamed her loss of her husband to this and gained much sympathy among the realm.
Supposedly, Hua Shu was able to leapfrog over the other four powerful elders because of being the widow and the fact that the four elders, plus the Phoenix Queen (the current Heavenly Empress) had used up a lot of their powers during the war and needed to recuperate.
Why Acting Heavenly Emperor? Because Empress Feng Yuan was still the Empress and she had been cultivating and also helping Gu Jin/Yuan Qi find the traitor in the Heavenly Realm. Also, everyone was waiting for the Phoenix Feng Yin to come back to take her place. The Bad Guys are counting on her not returning. Meanwhile Ms Bitchcovk was also hoping for a marriage union with Yuan Qi to strengthen her claim to the throne.
How was Feng Yin finally able to return? Simple. Ah Yin's soul held the final FengYin soul piece. Ah Yin must die. Really die, not going back for more reincarnations all the time. That last time, when YuanQi tried with all his powers and soul essence, Ah Yin really DID die (in the book, she was a stillborn child, if I remember correctly but I could be wrong because I've read too many xianxia stories haha). This death freed that last soul piece and voila, Feng Yin jie jie hui lai le (Sister FY returns).
