A very good watch. I liked it. But where was his mother when all this was happening? Yes, I've seen ALP, i know…
They took out some parts of the novel. The biggest beef was the epilogue missing ( extremely funny interaction).

What you say is true and I’m so glad it’s not in this youth xianxia. Gu Jin’s belief in Ah Yin never wavered. There was a scene when I thought it was going into LT syndrome when it looked like Gu Jin believed Hua Shu when Hua Shu took away Ah Yin’s memory of her date with Lan Feng, but Gu Jin ran after the upset Ah Yin immediately. Sure, the boy was a Bendan for being manipulated so easily, but the moment his eyes were open later, he was always Ah Yin’s. I guess many female viewers prefer the same old toxic 2FL over the Misunderstanding Trope used in this drama. I noticed many viewers complaining about this latter theme in earlier comments when the drama was ongoing. Oh, the need for the ML to be strong and menacing like a 60000 year old immortal. The viewers couldn’t handle a couple of hundred years old baby immortals making baby steps about what thy want in life at all.

Right. The toxic 2FL is so overly done. I prefer other as the Scooby Gang here, with some romantic tension.

Hua Shu didn't like Gujin on her end.... She only just wanted to "marry" to anyone who can benefit her Peacock…
Yup. And I can never forgive her either. Her redemption was not painful enough for me.

In my opinion, Hua Shu never really loved anyone. She wanted power for herself and her clan. She had this delusion…
The Tragedy of Hua Shu

I thought more about Hua Shu while having dinner (haha, girl, we're the only ones obsessively talking about this show!). You know, if not for Hua Shu's petty jealousy of the unseen Feng Yin, she wouldn't have ended the way she did.
First, she was jealous in Episode One when everyone was excited about checking out Feng Yin's magical egg (egg again!)/cocoon. As a high immortal, she understood about the Fire Phoenix pendant and its power.

Second, if she hadn't been jealous of one remark about someone who could be more beautiful than her (per the gossip), she wouldn't have used Feng Yin's helping Gu Jin to get back at the unseen baby phoenix. She took credit and asked for a peek (oh sure, yeah, right, a peek) at the fire pendant.

Third, she set off this disaster (and let's just ignore Feng Yin's story for the moment) that moved on to the birth of Ah Yin, of whom, as fate would have it, she AGAIN felt petty jealousy.

Fourth, her decision to hurt and humiliate Ah Yin, when she could have moved on to become the Heavenly Emperor-to-be's Consort and bask in that power, pushed Gu Jin and Ah Yin to the brink of that untold tragedy, until finally, because of her greed for power causing Lian Feng's death, she used her "grief" to kill Ah Yin. She herself set off the chain of events to bring Feng Yin back. And from that, she became the one who actually defeated herself.

Feng Yin was meant to die, being an anomaly, but instead of letting fates be, Hua Shu made it possible for Feng Yin to survive because she didn't know the young Gu Jin's blood had the power of Chaos. Hua Shu again and again stepped in and became the agent of self-inflicted tragedy. If she'd let Ah Yin alone, perhaps Ah Yin would have lived those 10000 years of bliss from the elixir with Yuan Qi and she'd have been a happy Consort to the Heavenly Emperor (who was assuredly going to be HE since Feng Yin would not have come back). Hua Shu could have had all the power she yearned for and if she'd been on the right side with her husband, fought the demons and be praised like she'd wanted all her life.

Instead, at the end, she lost everything.

Whew! Got that all from eating dinner....haha.

It’s not that we cannot make a case for Hua Shu being a little in love with Yuan Qi, but it was a very selfish kind of love, one in which she wanted to hold the power. (Haha, My autocorrect made her name horse shoe 😂. Very apt, since she is from a mold, beaten into shape and think the horse truly needed her. Bwahaha)

It’s Taoism and Buddhism mixed together, Chinese style lol. We called Hak Yee Choi in Cantonese, or beggar’s feast—a little bit of everything stirred in the pot and smelled so good that even Emperor Chien Lung, in his incognito travels, asked to taste it 😊

It’s not that she disliked him, per se, but she really had no respect for him. She did not think he was smart enough to know about her real self, because she had been lying to him for 1000 years and got away with it. She did not respect him as a person but yes, being married to a true god is very, tempting, isn’t it? Whereas she overheard Ah Yin telling GuGu she didn’t care about Gu Jin’s status Ah Yin was very sure at that point that Gu Jin loved her and would choose her. Hua Shu could never accept this, that someone would love this nothing girl over herself. And she hated her even more after her death, because Yuan Qi spent the next 1000 years looking for Ah Yin and nurturing her soul!

In my opinion, Hua Shu never really loved anyone. She wanted power for herself and her clan. She had this delusion that she was constantly humiliated, and looked down upon. Lian Feng showed her what love meant but she never got to really understand it because he died so quickly.

She hated Ah Yin because this girl seemed like nothing and yet she had everything Hua Shu thought was missing in her life. Ah Yin had a clan who truly loved and respected her, always protecting her, even that Bendan Gu Jin, whom she had thought was wrapped around her finger, dropped her whenever Ah Yin needed him. Destroying Ah Yin showed her basest nature because she thought without Ah Yin she could manipulate Yuan Qi even more. That’s why I never will forgive her in spite of her deed at the end. Hong Chou GuGu at least thought she was protecting her master, Gu Jin. Hua Shu was never for anyone but herself. Her need for power blinded her until that final redeeming deed. Let me go watch it again, so I can remember some of the conversation because I recall there were certain words of importance.

Hua Shu was a very much older Peacock Princess when she met Gu Jin. She only knew how to use him. Later, she wanted his power as a true god to hold her place as Heavenly Emperor. Hua Shu had never loved anyone until Lian Feng demonstrated his love through sacrifice, and even then, she was very clear-headed about the idea of love. Duty and power came first, then love. The peacock is a bird that symbolizes self love and pride. Hua Shu was exactly that. The Phoenix is about sacrifice, rebirth and immortal wisdom through rebirth, and Feng Yin portrayed exactly that.

I thought she got demigod status because yuan qi gave his last spirit
No, she got it from all the past lives and the thunder strikes. There were conversations after she came back when others were puzzled how she got demigoddess status without tribulation and thunderstrikes. His stopgap power push might have given her a little more oomph. Remember, she retained all her memories. What he did actually saved his own life in the end, because a piece of him was in her, and his being wasn’t entirely scattered in the universe forever. This story has a lot of mirrors. He saved her and she saved him in the end.

It is nothing like ALP. Why don’t you try a few episodes? This is a youthful Xianxia, unlike the ones where the ML is a very powerful ancient god already.
