I really, really do not appreciate storylines that play with my emotions. I find myself dropping this kind of…
Generally, that's what xianxia as a genre is supposed to do--epic fails, epic wins, epic feels. Everything is over-the-top, from the Most Powerful God of War battling the Most Evil of Evils (who was imprisoned with a stupid seal or weird looking chain of sparkly flowers). There is often Big Misunderstanding of Stupidity and Great Sacrifices of Love. Usually, there is a revenge plot lurking somewhere. Xianxia as a genre is meant to teach about human suffering and noble sacrifice. That's why you always see this goddess or that god sacrificing her/himself for the realms, calling it tribulation or whatnot. And amongst all that, there is true love and how through reincarnations, they become "one." The use of human emotions is to emphasize all the "big" topics for us mere mortals. It is the job of the writer to find an interesting way to navigate through these tropes. So, for TLI, I found it quite different that the author chose to portray both protagonists as very young and naive and started from there. The paths each main character took to hit the high and low points were not boring to me at all. The only thing that was a familiar echo was the Big Misunderstanding due to Non-Communication trope (a favorite of xianxia, I'm talking to you two, BaiJue (YuanQi's dad) and Mr. YueHua) because of the perceived male need to protect the female at all cost. I guess we need a modernized xianxia where the leads communicate better LOL. Anyway, what I wanted to say was if the drama made you feel all the hate and love and pain and gosh, humiliation, if the drama makes you gnash your teeth, if it made you cry like a baby, then sigh at the ending, then the xianxia story has done its job very well. <3 <3 <3
I like the drama overall but I feel like they could've have made Feng Yin be reincarnated a few episodes early,…
The 40 episode rule really kills the xianxia prolonged lives and ending episodes, don't you agree? Of course, I can't say that the rule makes the ending so disatisfactory because that seems to be the xianxia thing (two minute get-back-togethers)!
Yes, so much scrolling. I know it’s possible on lapto but don’t know on phone, one could just click on page…
Would you like me to give you links from my old conversations about characters? I have to links from my own notifications. If you are interested, of course.
I really enjoyed this drama. Did i want to fry the peacock? of course i did 🤣 ..i wish the leads had more closure…
Yes, so much scrolling. I know it’s possible on lapto but don’t know on phone, one could just click on page nos of comments. I used to start clicking from page 2 or 3 and read along if I come into drama late. Then I get a more immersive drama discussion experience as I watch along the old comments, which were more about the drama itself.
Yuanqi had no intentions to kill A-Yin.He only wanted to save her from taking the heavenly punishment which will…
Also, Ah Yin wanted to die because to her, she had nothing left. Yuan Qi’s fault was not in this act but the act before that and not understanding that his decision to act without love would slowly kill her hope. He realized this too late.
