As a foreigner, I find the female lead to be very unattractive, to the point where I am unable to watch any series…
OK, but what has that got to do with the drama? If you don't like the drama just because you find the actress unattractive, then you're missing out on a pretty good script. I don't find a few Western actresses attractive (to my preference) either, but I certainly never review a movie or TV show from that angle. Either I like that particular show or not. There are many here who criticized the drama based on the fact that they didn't buy the actress' portrayal of the young age and they stated so, and I don't fault them, even though I disagree. But at least, they're critiquing in the context of the narrative.
Beware of fake “genuine” reviewers and commenters. They are lurking here all the time despite having said…
Oh, Ooops. I thought she was a genuine viewer of the drama. The whole thread has disappeared from my view now, so perhaps she blocked me too LOL. I was actually genuinely discussing the ending with her! Silly me.
You've got to be kidding me. I wasted 40 hours of my life for such a vague ending, tf???? They had so much time…
Yes, I felt your disappointment. There are many ways to interpret it but at the end of the day, I do feel, as a writer, that there was no emotional payoff by this kind of ending. Leaving it to the viewer, when the whole drama was solidly heading toward a tragic trajectory, was a cowardly way out.
I did like the drama a lot more than you because I understood where they were heading and was looking at all the various clues building it up and the last episode was disappointment because the crescendo petered out. I was MORE disappointed with the Cui girl arc/ending, TBH. Girl spent the whole 39 episodes being part of the problem and never really showed any shame or regret of what her family did and was just redeemed by someone else's (her lover's) death. Not enough for my Inner Mean Girl. :) Cheers to you and your chickens LOL
Wow, he has over 19 million followers. In perspective it's almost half the population of my country. I live in…
We can go state by state and say, hey, LYN's followers are a few million less than mine and ZLS's a few million more than mine! Bwahahaha. #letsPlayGeography
I don't get the mouth smeared in toxic part LOL. But the rest, LYN explained Yan ZJ perfectly.
Ahhh! I didn't listen to it in Chinese, just read the above. Without the context, the meaning got lost in translation. Thank you! Love the viewers' joke!
Everyone should listen to Liu Yuning's OST, Only Wish. The lyrics are so perfect for TSOPG. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWI2nwbRFng&list=PLLaG0k-PXfncMSzcF1iXqy53zV5L-S3Bo&index=3
They are but the songs of this drama are too sad for me LOL, esp. for the holiday season where I am, so I tend to avoid them for now.
I just miss a good laugh and a good cry... so I rewatched this. I also rewatched AOL... Xianxia is the best when…
I think watching both is very enriching because what the adults did in AOL, the young uns had to deal with in HG, I mean, TLI. One sees how YQ is like his father and one also sees the aftermath of learning stuff from his father and mother's choices, LOL.
Can anyone tell me if i have to watch the prequel ancient love poetry to watch this drama?? Cuz i havent wanted…
Just keep in mind that all the responsible Older Responsible Immortals are off doing something or other throughout this drama, leaving these young immortals to fend for themselves among the sharks.
I really want to watch this but a lot is hating on ML character here😭 also is Ayin the Phoenix Queen? Or just…
They hate it because this is a Xianxia about young immortals. All the old ones in this drama aren't present, except for a few Bad Ambitious immortals. For example, the ML's parents, who are the Supreme Beings--if you've watched Ancient Love Poetry, you'll know they're doing their story at the moment and unable to help out. Also, the Queen of Heaven is off to cultivate. Dong Hua, the ML's guardian and teacher, just ascended to the next level.
So, these few young'uns are left to fend for themselves among the sharks going after power. The ML does one wrong thing in the beginning because he was naive and has to pay for it for the rest of the drama because he made an oath to do things right by the FL. He just doesn't know how HEAVY the price is going to be.
I see this drama like the Scooby Gang in the first half, as they go off on their quest to look for A Yin's soul pieces. The second half is when they have grown up and has come into their power. You will see how they use this new responsibility to find out the truth and to avenge A Yin.
I loved this drama so much. Most viewers cannot abide by the ML's naive actions in the first half, but he is supposed to be a 200 year-old trying not to show his hidden identity against very, very cunning older immortals who have been at this game for thousands of years. He doesn't have his parents' tutelage and every adult is telling him something different. If you stay with it, the second half is a great emotional payoff as he rights all the wrongs and as A Yin shows HER hidden godhood.
