Title Reply 1988 Spoiler
I can't believe Taek is the husband. I'm still in denial. lol I'm convinced that the writer changed it at the…
Yeah, they did. Look at WhitLilly's comments about Taek - they did the exact same kind of low-key, subtle hints all thru Reply 1994 up until that ridiculous viewer vote was announced. They are hard to see, but OMG at the end of 1994 they could NOT be erased. That CHRISTMAS incident - that's the big killer - where Trash stayed at the hospital while Chilbongie went to her? That's the equivalent of the whole movie thing in this one. So even tho I too thought from the beginning it would be Trash in 1994, & didn't really care either way, I saw the direction the writers were going in, and the English lit professor in me screamed bloody murder at how those producers just destroyed what had been a very carefully & cleverly crafted story.
In this one, that wasn't allowed. Again, at the first, it seemed blatantly obvious that Jung Hwan would be the spouse - we thought it was between him & Sun Woo, remember? But the subtle little things started adding up - in the boards I was on, people started remarking on 'could it be Taek?' 'Am I setting myself up for heartache?' kind of remarks. So yeah, really well crafted in this one.

Title Reply 1988
Just finished watching.... I gave 1/10 to reply 1994 only because of the ending, I wanted different ending here…
Just ignore this entirely :o

Title Reply 1988
Nooooooope. the ending was not for me. Season 2 will forever remain my favorite reply season after all.
HOW could you say that Reply 1994 is your fav? When even the WRITERS admit they had to scramble to TRY to fix that mess created by the producers or whoever deciding to send the husband choice out to the public AFTER ALL THE CLUES had already been given!!!!! That TOTALLY screwed up the logic of the drama! Which obviously you & other rather shallow types care nothing about - just your little ships :( It's just so maddening.

Title Reply 1988
Worst ending ever !!! downvote this drama guys
Just because the boy you wanted didn't get the girl? Ridiculous. The writing was superb, it was always up in the air between the two guys, and it was very well done. If you were my student doing this in an English essay class (yes I was an Eng Lit teacher) I'd FLUNK you because you totally missed all the wonderful aspects of this drama to focus on ONE tiny little aspect, put your OWN whiny little desires onto it, and then have the nerve to call it trash. Nope, sorry, you FAIL.

I am rewatching this. And now it is so OBVIOUS that it was always meant to be Taek, not JH. Right now, I even…
They REALLY redeemed the show after Reply 1994, didn't they? I can't blame them for that mess considering it was the producer's fault (or higher)...
This is absolutely my fav Reply now, although I totally loved Reply 1997. The parents' various stories in this just were my focus.

Title Reply 1988 Spoiler
I can't believe Taek is the husband. I'm still in denial. lol I'm convinced that the writer changed it at the…
The writers really kept the clues pretty even-handed in this one. Yes, at first it really looked like Jung Hwan would be the husband, especially given future husband. Remember at first we all thought it was between Sun Woo & Jung Hwan? But then they started gradually inserting stuff about Taek - at first it just looked like they wanted to fool us again, but it got more and more insistent. By the 18th episode, when the future husband had shown that he acted like Taek sometimes, after we had seen Taek's FATHER a lot, it was completely up in the air. I was terrified myself that they'd kill off one or the other - which the writers left very open (Taek not showing up at that dinner, Jung Hwan being a PILOT for the ROK AF...) So either one was fine. My biggest problem? They didn't really give an end story for Jung Hwan. I read somewhere that they actually did some epilogue where he DID die in a plane crash :( Boo hoo. So nope, this was done very well, even if you'd rather Jung Hwan got the girl. It's a FAR FAR cry from Reply 1994 - where the writers DEFINITELY put in clues for those clever enough to get them - they had planned for Chilbongie to be the hubby, but the PRODUCERS decided to have viewers vote - at the last minute - so everything was off :( That RUINED Reply 1994 for me, since it put the lie to everything that had gone on thru out the show. Did NOT happen here. Really. If you are basing this on that one early shot of the future husband, then I can't agree at all.

Title Glamorous Temptation Spoiler
Tf?!!!! Are you tellling me that because her husband is dead, she had to go to jail in his place?! I call bullshit.…
Not only that, but in other dramas where new mama goes to jail she keeps the baby w/her for a year (maybe 6 months - who knows?) so ???? But yeah - sucker punch there! I'm all consumed w/figuring out who knows whom from where - did that evil politician dude just adopt a bunch of kids?

This is a revenge/makjang weekend drama - catering to a specific audience. I'm watching because of the cast, and because I CAN take soap operas I know will END....

Focussen - You go right ahead and consider her Jan Di then. Most of us are shaking our heads at YOUR cluelessness but whatever. Do your own thing.

Being a hick from the countryside does NOT make one dumb. This girl is far from being either stupid or Jan Di material. This is NOT stupid girl by a huge long shot.

OK - this is very very much like Boys Over Flowers - except is not stupid. I'm not a fan of the manga/anime nor any of the live action versions of BoF - the Korean one is my fav just because of the cast (omg KHJ, LMH, Kim Bum - I mean really!!!!). I have always hated the story. But here, the girl is NOT stupid, just a hick - and can SERIOUSLY kick some butt - the lead guy is not particularly nasty, our sweet 2nd lead has some other ladies about him. I feel that this could easily go south, but so far I'm liking it fine :D

Trolls and anti-fans present a unique glimpse into the myriad intricacies that make up the human mind. Why waste all that energy over someone or something that you hate? So often the troll cannot even put together a reasonable argument against their target, since of course their antipathy does not arise from logic. We have an example of this on the list, with alexk345, who rails against Lee Jun Ki in rambling fashion. Not much use to try to engage in a conversation with such a person because they have an agenda which no argument no matter how cogent will dissuade. One thing, Alex - 'charisma' refers to style, not to skill. It means the very force of personality that you argue against. Production companies hire hallyu idols to star in dramas to add charisma rather than for acting ability. In this drama, Changmin falls in that category, although he did quite a respectable in his role as the king. Lee Jun Ki, although certainly charismatic, has proven over and over that he's got a lot of skill as an actor. This drama just emphasizes that talent.

Look, if YOU didn't like it that's one thing, but I'm sorry, other people have the right to their own opinions. And BTW just saying something is awful is lame - give some reasons if you want to be taken seriously.

Lee Joon Gi has been a favorite since I first saw him years ago in the King and the Clown. This drama just reinforced…
Oh yes, the visuals in this drama are indeed stunning - I did the rewind thing a lot myself (loved the fight where Gwi ripped off our Scholar's hat - and kept wanting him to do it again every time they fought....). It did feel like an anime - or one of those magical Chinese/Hong Kong films (thinking Green Snake). Just loved this!
On The Scholar Who Walks the Night Sep 12, 2015
I really loved this - the obligatory time-jump made some sense this time (he needed to heal, people needed to think all the vampires really died, etc etc) plus they show that the principles (ie the King, his secretary & assistant, his girl) pretty much know he's not dead, just in, say hibernation. So that was a perfect ending to a fabulous drama! OMG Lee Jun Ki is soooo beautiful!
Changmin did a very credible job in this I thought :D I loved our little heroine as well - she just fit the part perfectly.
And am I the only one who thinks Lee Soo Hyuk could play Loki? SO gorgeously evil...

Title My Beautiful Bride Spoiler
Plot holes? or just rushed? What happened to secretary kim? Was just a dream at the end? or did he die? Yoon joo…
Not strange at ALL considering the woman who managed to OUST Chairman Kang (you know, Bank Guy's mom) didn't LIKE finding out that he'd been involved in human trafficking. In other words Joo Young is changing the nature of the business in order to appease the mom (is she a judge? she's something big), not because she herself is a saint or anything.

But she's changing the NATURE of the business - remember that the mom stated that she wanted the human trafficking to stop? When she confronted Chairman Kang? I expect she's STILL saying that, & Joo Young agrees.
