Wow - so you just can't get over it & enjoy the drama on it's own merits, just because the original synopsis was…
A great deal of what you said is contradictory. Look, I started out saying how unreasonable it is for anyone to criticize a 16 episode drama based solely on an inaccurate synopsis. That IS ridiculous, in fact. You then said there were other reasons - proceeded to basically state things I myself found faulty, and best of all, gave it about the rating I would. THEN you attack me again LOL I have ONE thing I disagree with you about. ONE.
So you never watched any of the REALLY garbage dramas, I guess. Never saw Mirae's Choice, I guess. This was very…
I completely disagree with your assessment of the acting on this show. I found Joy to be the only weak actor, and she did a decent job with her character. Certainly it is completely unfair to blame this on Joy. I found the writing spotty, and inconsistent. Joy's character specifically had fatal flaws - she's a Mary Sue type boring bland character when in fact Tae Hee should have been written as strong and skeptical - a challenge in other words. That's the WRITERS' fault. YOU are the one using a lot of generalities and superlatives about this show - that's what I'm reacting to. It's NOT 'total garbage' - your statement "let's not pretend like there was anything of value in this show. not even a decent ost. nothing" is pretty ludicrous and indefensible. Again, I can give many examples of worse acting, worse plot, worse writing than this. You didn't like it. That's fine, your choice. But to pretend like that justifies you saying that no one should be able to find anything decent in this is an insult to the actors and the production company at the very lease.
Wow - so you just can't get over it & enjoy the drama on it's own merits, just because the original synopsis was…
I love how you've appointed yourself Queen of opinions - you say something inaccurate, don't bother to defend it, and then tell me to basically shut up because I don't agree with you. Plus you manage to bolster MY point by calling this drama a 6 or a 7, based on sketchy, uneven writing, which is exactly what I'VE been doing. YOU get a 'grip' dearie. My entire argument rests on this NOT being 'the worst ever', a piece of garbage, deserving of the lowest (next to ) ratings, etc. It's none of those things. It's a drama that didn't live up to it's hype, had uneven writing, and one lead who is not that great of an actor and whose part was ineptly written. IE a slightly above-average KDrama.
So you never watched any of the REALLY garbage dramas, I guess. Never saw Mirae's Choice, I guess. This was very…
People say an awful lot of silly things. I will call out those silly things. I have the same right to do that as you do to spout off your unsupported opinions.
Wow - so you just can't get over it & enjoy the drama on it's own merits, just because the original synopsis was…
I'd suggest you do so. You are criticizing a 16 episode drama solely because it didn't fit the synopsis - or at least that is what you SAID in your comment.
So you never watched any of the REALLY garbage dramas, I guess. Never saw Mirae's Choice, I guess. This was very…
Tiacosos - You do realize that this and Manhole have the lowest ratings on record? THAT would be one of the things I referenced. Plus, in what was this total garbage? It's got problems but it would be a lot more accurate and helpful if you'd just point out what you consider problematic (I'm betting JOY...) Plus you flat-out SAID you'd rarely given a 1 rating. I really feel that so much of the truly bitter comments are from people who had very high hopes and expectations from this and saw those hopes dashed. That does cause a lot of anger.
Exactly. There are so MANY worse dramas out there. This isn't even a mediocre one - it's entertaining. I think…
The poster didn't call anyone ridiculous - they said that the RATING was ridiculous. That's not insulting anyone. It's not an exact critism, of course - I'd say a rating of 3 is highly unfair & inaccurate - very hard to justify by referencing the work in question.
I'm quite amazed how this drama managed to get a 1.7% ratings.... this is tragic for actors and producers....…
It's getting a LOT better ratings internationally. I certainly don't think it deserves the low ratings it got - neither did Manhole tho. I think both of them suffered in SK because of their unconventional storylines (this one got back to a more conventional romcom plot of course, but too little too late for domestic audiences)
I don't see many people here who are familiar with the work this is based on, so I would like your opinion on…
It's a positive take on the original, intent on redeeming the main characters. I'm very familiar with the original & have seen many adaptations, so having a sympathetic view of our 3 friends, where I want to see them healed, is refreshing. The writing could be much better BTW & Joy's character lacked depth (I'm thinking the writers knew she couldn't handle a very complex character) but overall I enjoyed this for what it was. I understand that there is a film adaptation of Les Liaisons Dangereuses that was much closer to the original, starring Bae Doo Na - you might want to look that one up.
Why in the world do you think that this having a happy ending ruined anything? You still have that silly modern prejudice that only sad or tragic endings are any good? LOL BTW it was FIVE YEARS later - not 'two episodes' ago. FIVE YEARS, honey. That's a long time.
Everyone hated it oh no. I kinda feel guilty for liking it now xD
Don't feel guilty just because there are some people who can't get over their disappointment that this drama didn't do what THEY wanted it to do. Just look at what it was & judge on that. I get that some people were disappointed, and that's ok - I was a bit myself (mainly over the bland boring nature of Joy's character, which is the WRITERS' fault, even if they did it thinking it's all Joy could handle). Still, over all an enjoyable drama despite not living up to the hype!
I hated it because the synopsis was completed different than what the awful writers gave us. I would have never…
Wow - so you just can't get over it & enjoy the drama on it's own merits, just because the original synopsis was off? Rather inflexible & intolerant - oh, & must make you hate LOTS of dramas as so many synopsis are inaccurate LOL
Lol at the reviews for this drama !!! I put it on hold after about 6 eps and was hesitating to pick it up again…
You really should stop reading other people's reviews - they are pretty off the wall inaccurate. It's basically people who wanted it to be Cruel Intentions & got upset when the 'mean' girl wasn't mean enough LOL
i can't even remember the last time i gave a drama a 1. i guess that's some sort of achievement in itself? anyways,…
So you never watched any of the REALLY garbage dramas, I guess. Never saw Mirae's Choice, I guess. This was very far from being garbage. It's a decent little romance with a twist. Why people like you are acting like it is the worse thing you've ever seen baffles me. OMG
A lot of bad reviews but never gave up and now that i saw it till the end, I can say that i like it. A good cast…
Agree with you. Joy's character (as written) disappointed me not because of her acting but because Tae Hee was so bland and average. I think maybe the writers did that thinking Joy couldn't do justice to a more complex character, but I wish they'd tried. Obviously they did soften the original story a LOT - but I liked this positive take on it - I've seen so many of the other versions, all tragic, so why not have one where that little group of friends learns their lessons very early & thus averts tragedy? I thought that an interesting take on the story, myself. As you said, there was some uneven writing, questionable plot points, etc - but it all came together pretty well. Not the greatest drama ever but certainly an enjoyable experience. It does NOT deserve the ratings it got in SK (any more than Manhole did) .
Eun Tae was pretty much the only thing i liked about this drama. But somehow it kept sucking me back in, though…
The fact that you LIKED the most boring character, played by the least proficient actor in the entire cast, says a lot about how to apply your criticism of this drama LOL
opposed to the negative popular opinions, I liked it. It's not the best drama out there but I've seen worst and…
Exactly. I very much enjoyed most of it, although sometimes Joy's character had me shaking my head - I think the writers deliberately wrote that character with Joy's acting limitations in mind, which totally hurt the story. But the other 3 young actors were fabulous, and I'm especially wowed by Moon Ga Young!
So.... I'm gonna need the Japanese to remake this asapIn this kind of world with those kind of characters- AIN'T…
So terrible that you're all upset that this one had a positive resolution. Did you not notice that the characters were all given really 3D personalities and that they were portrayed in a thoughtful sensitive manner with real rationales for their choices? That was a BIG clue to me that they weren't going for the shocker tragic ending Cruel Intentions had. Les Liasons Dangereures workds very well because the characters are all older and jaded. It takes the major shocks at the END of the story to finally jounce the main guy out of his cynicism and to see that older woman finally, tragically realize the hollowness of her life, way too late. But in this, they are CHILDREN. Cruel Intentions, good as it was in a lot of ways, really had no nuances to Sarah Marie Gellar's character at all - she was a caricature of all the nasty girls from HS ever. In this one Moon Ga Young's character had a lot going on in her life - she was simply NOT a stereotypical bad girl. I also enjoyed piecing together the parents' back story a lot. Wish we'd got more of Se Jo's, in fact. This was not a horrible drama by any standards. Not the best, some of the writing lacked finesse, and Joy is not the best actress (although her part fitted her, it SHOULDN'T have - the fact that Tae Hee was such a Mary Sue kind of creature really brought the whole premise that Shi Hyun would fall for her into question). So there were problems. But nothing like what's been screamed about here. You want a totally horrible drama - I give you Mirae's Choice. Missing 9. Goodbye Mr. Black. I expect some of the dramas I never bothered watching are even worse.
You then said there were other reasons - proceeded to basically state things I myself found faulty, and best of all, gave it about the rating I would.
