I hope you are right. So far, tho, it's following the history.

Anyone else find the scene where the chef's daughter sees the 'angel' ie Kai just utterly adorable & hysterical all at the same time? That sure didn't require any acting on that little girl's part I'm SO sure LOL LOL LOL

I like it how this drama shows the thing called "frienship". I don't believe friendship exists and it perfectly…
WHAT???? OMG
I'm so very sad for you that you think friendship doesn't exist. That's so tragic. Friendship is one of the basic kinds of human connection that we have - one can see it among animals even. To deny that it exists is to deny so much that is positive in the world. Your life must be so bleak :(
On That Man Oh Soo Apr 26, 2018
Actually quite a lovely little ending. This was just a sweet, subtle, calming little drama. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Not fantastic, just nice.
The criticisms are pretty juvenile.

Plays the shinigami or angel (whichever) that caused the mess-up in the first place. LOTS of shots of him looking stricken, & gorgeous LOL Not a huge role but very very memorable :d

Oh for a dislike button - I mean REALLY! No, parents do NOT 'own' their children, OMG Sol will be able to see…
Oh, you are holding your own in the rude department, dear.
YOU might learn how to argue convincingly-I'm so sure I've done this a lot longer than you.
BTW I worked for years at DSS - I've seen actually cases where Daddy decides he wants his possession (ie kid) back after years & destroys a family, traumatizes a child etc.
He IS a 'sperm donor' - he let his parents break them up & never bothered to check up on her for 2 years. Sorry, that does NOT give him the right to completely disrupt her new life, honey. All it gives him is what she SAID she'd allow - contact with his daughter.
Grow up a little before you embarrass yourself.

BTW explain what exactly you think she prevented him doing? She doesn't want to go BACK to him. That's all. She's got custody of the child, he will have visitation. You are aware that buying a shitload of stuffed animals does not constitute 'taking care of a kid', right?

You are pretty noxious - I daresay also pretty young. Again, NO - he's just a sperm donor. She's granting him access to the child. Apparently he stood by & let his parents run her off BTW - nothing shown in this of how he's somehow all worthy & wonderful at ALL.
Grow up.

Wow. Never finished a Ji Chang Wook drama??? LOL Yeah. You know he does all sorts of different parts, is an extremely…
See, dear, you've just misread about everything I said.
First off, I do know a great deal about writing - of course I do. Not only have I written (been published, been a newspaper editor), but I've been trained as a literary critic. So I might be able to AUTHOR a writing guide LOL Plus, I didn't throw that in your face at all. I simply said that as part of my rebuttal when you sneered at me about my supposed experience.
I never have said that Healer is the best thing ever, in fact. I've said it's drama crack. I said the ROMANCE is very direct and uncomplicated, one of the best representations of that kind of young focused love.
As for the book market - sheesh. Writing a good book should BE the end game, and the idea that a great novel might lie undiscovered because the author isn't a great business person and couldn't find one to sell her/his work, well that NAUSEATES me - how's that? I agree with you - the quality of a book often does correlate negatively with sales - again what an AWFUL state of affairs and a disgusting comment on humanity today! It's nothing to crow about at all.
You don't know what you should about me after reading my posts, quite frankly.

I call you sweetheart or hun cause I'm an old Southern gal, dear. It's what we do.
I said that the romance in Healer was just about the sweetest, most uncomplicated, best Ie most realistic romance in KDramas - because I feel it is. Really. You were the one who reacted to my saying that. I do feel sorry for people who cannot relate to that depiction, since I rather believe it's because those people have never HAD a romance like that. If you are a psychologist, then you should understand exactly what I mean.
I'm also a writer and I've graduate degrees in LITERATURE. In other words, literary criticism.
Now, you tell me what other KDrama dealt with journalism in the 80s in SK - ie pirate journalism. I'm not saying there wasn't one, but I've not seen it, & as I've pointed out I've seen 300+ KDramas. I see you all of a sudden agreeing with what I've said, after you've attacked me for saying them in the first place. Projection much?
I love how so many people seem to think that simply listing credentials (like YOU did, BTW) somehow makes one 'arrogant', or talking down to someone LOL That's nonsensical.
Your English is fine - would not have known from your writing that it's not your first language.
You don't have to like every single thing others like. I have friends who didn't like Healer (not very many of them). But they TOLD me what they didn't like about it - not just some unspecified 'boring', or trying to say it wasn't 'original'. Those in fact are not valid criticisms. If a drama bores someone, there's a reason for it and that's the real problem for that viewer.
I'll give you one of my friend's explanation for why SHE didn't really like Healer: She thought the whole plot of the FARMERS a bit over the top, felt the story capitalized on City Hunter too closely, & really didn't like the glorification of this messenger service, which was in fact amoral.
Now, those are VALID reasons (not ones that I find problematic tho) for why she disliked the show.

MY attitude is disgusting????? MINE??? WOW. You are insane, buddy. You are beyond offensive. What a fool you are being.
Look, I'm just saying what any OTHER student of literature (or PROFESSOR of same) would tell you. What WRITERS will tell you. The facts are really simple. Anyone telling a story is going to have to relate said story to their audience. HOW, one says? Oh, by making it as real as possible EXCEPT for the specific plot point that, as you say, encourages readers out of themselves, to dream, to see possibilities, to have a cathartic experience. But if a story is completely removed from reality, if what happens all around the central story is totally fake, then that suspension of disbelief simply doesn't happen.
What people mean when they say dramas are 'fake' usually has to do with the idea of a rich guy falling for a poor girl, or a long-lost love turning up, or vampires/ghosts/time-travel - whatever that story's main plot device might be. Stories use coincidence a lot, they have conventions (accidental kisses, piggy-back rides, make-overs are common in KDrama romcoms, for instance). These are NOT true to life.
What IS realistic (and the more a drama gets this right, the more powerful the impact of the story will be) is the background. Well-rounded characters, doing things that people relate to, talking like people the audience knows - in other words being 'regular people' like audience members - allow for a viewer to immerse themselves IN the drama and think, Oh, this might happen to me, or at least, 'this is what it would feel like IF it happened'. Take that away and you've got a flat story.
The fact that most people who have seen Healer zoom in on that love story, and relate to it, in fact agree with me that it's a very angst-free and realistic depiction of young love, pretty much validates what I've said. Those that don't see that most likely never experienced that kind of a love affair (for good or bad) and therefore cannot RELATE to it. It doesn't seem real for THOSE viewers.
Weightlifting Fairy also had a pretty realistic romance - but it's whole setting was much more realistic than Healer. Plus, Weightlifting Fairy did have some of the common tropes of KDrama romcoms - the love triangle, the girl getting drunk, etc. It was done very well, freshly and full of innovations, but they were there.
I find your arrogant disdain of having a real discussion highly immature. You didn't bother to address anything I actually said about these dramas but instead somehow feel that the way one handles a critical discussion is to personally insult the one that has a different viewpoint. When I show quite clearly that I might actually know whereof I speak I get called names LOL This hatred of education and intelligence, hmmm - seen it before...

And that's why this is only a drama. It's not real uno..
Romantic Dr Kim's actual SK ratings were through the ROOF, dear. LOL - too bad you've not got a clue - which of course you couldn't since you DROPPED it after only the first episode.
Let me give you a little clue - it's often easy to see if you will LIKE a drama after one or two episodes, but you absolutely cannot make an objective, fair nor accurate assessment of whether it is good or bad (ie whether it manages to achieve the goals the writers intend for it) with only a couple episodes. I've dropped dramas after one episode myself, but I'm not so full of it as to make a critical assessment of those dramas.

LOL LOL LOL Oh, I don't know, maybe because that fits the pattern for all the romances I had in college, all the ones my friends had, the ones my brothers had, the ones my younger friends have had over the past few years - sheesh.
I'm not talking about the situation (ie him being super ninja by night, geek by day). I'm talking her character, and his geek character - and the way they interacted. It actually reminds me most of the gaming couples or SCA couples I've seen, where the guy (usually) is all super-cool & competent when gaming or larping but elsewhere is geeky - while his partner/GF is quirky and sweet.
Those 2 episodes where she goes to his apartment to nurse him & they end up in bed together, well, the morning after scene in the kitchen is SPOT on LOL
I'm so sorry YOU haven't experienced positive, non-angsty love affairs like this, hon. So sad.
I'm baffled because some people find Healer boring. DEAL with that. I do not understand why ANYONE would find this boring.
As for JCW's ninja skills, that's more realistic than some of the other stuff in dramas, but that's not what anyone is talking about when they gush about how real the romance is - I'm very sure you know that.

Listen, I've seen 300+ KDramas, not to mention all the other films, movies, dramas I've seen, nor the countless novels I've read (I'm a literature major, own over 1000 books). EVERYTHING has been done before. All of the plays Shakespeare wrote were REWRITES of somebody else's take on that story.
The point about any work of fiction is the TREATMENT of the old plotline. You say 'oh, the tragic past linking them together is cliche, done before'. Yep. But that's not what drove their romance at all. It was a sweet (or cliched - whatever) little footnote. I've not seen another drama touch on pirate journalism in the 80s in SK, BTW - that was quite interesting for me, if brief. The specific way the lives of those young friends was interwoven, what happened, the character of the older brother - the writers had an interesting and insightful view of that and used it very skillfully to carry the plot forward.
Several people who called this 'boring' actually SKIPPED portions of the drama, which means they missed a LOT of the story itself. Lack of understanding certainly can lead to boredom LOL.
Again, there was quite a mix of realism vs, shall we say, wishful thinking, about Healer. If you fail to understand what was real about it I'm very sorry for you.

Yep - much more straightforward than any of those except possibly Weightlifting Fairy. I loved all those, BTW but no, the lead in Healer was certainly NOT boring (like she was, say, in City Hunter LOL - I liked CH a great deal but when I saw her in Healer it shocked me, how much more appealing she was).
You've got a strange idea of what a real romance between two young people really works LOL A hint - NOT like either Coffee Prince nor Secret Garden :D
BTW I'm not offended, just a bit baffled.

how is this compared to 6 flying dragon or deep rooted trees? in terms of action
Not as good, because of the wooden lead actress being completely overshadowed both by the 2nd lead actress & the 2nd lead ACTOR LOL But in terms of action, better than Tree With Deep Roots - on a par with 6 Flying Dragons.

Healer & Warrior Baek Dong Soo are EXCELLENT dramas. Healer especially is drama crack, as I mentioned. Best realistic young romance EVER. A few people have said they got somehow bored by Healer but I'm sorry, it really doesn't hold water at all. You might not like that kind of drama, but Healer was extremely well written, well acted and well directed. It never got uninspired once. If you got 'bored' it was because you don't appreciate that kind of story, not because the writers didn't do their job.
Warrior Baek Don Soo has more problems than Healer (or some of the other mentioned dramas) but it is a solid action saegeuk that has a classic bromance tale.
You don't sound like a fan of KDramas period, in fact. Did you see Empress Ki? Or Five Fingers? They are Ji Chang Wook, not being the hero, and critically acclaimed dramas.
