As for those texts, yep, PSH's former manager seems to have been the mover & shaker here. I find that in almost all cases where the girl seems to have lied about assault there is a man behind her using her. This is a good example, & so is Yoochun's scandal.

Neither is yours. I do like to think mine is an informed opinion - and some of the things I've said are just facts, dear.

What about this exactly makes you think it's trying to be Western, other than the fact it's adapted from a French novel?

Untold Scandal was also based on Les Liaisons Dangereuses (I looked it up). I haven't seen it, but I'm now putting it on my watch list cause Bae Doo Na, & the subject matter. Did you see it? Was it decent?

Ignorant = does not know. I'm perfectly capable of discerning who doesn't know something. You must be in that SOME I mentioned, since you say you are aware of the source material. However, to judge something after what is basically one episode, well, joy for you. Chill out your self in fact - that is pretty much what I wish for all the people to do who are screaming about how horrible this drama is after only one episode, or about how so and so can't act, etc. I mean, you seem to be fine with THOSE comments.
I in fact have started just asking some pointed questions of people who say broad criticisms.
In case you wonder why I bother, people come to this site to see what's good to watch, but there are annoying fan wars (don't really know what else to call them) going on where people downvote (seriously downvote) shows BEFORE they even start, or immediately, just to show dislike for some actor or other, or because the drama is beating a drama that one of their crushes is in, etc. It makes the rankings completely unreliable and just becomes so very very annoying.

Again, as I said, Gossip Girls was inspired by Cruel Intentions, which was a modern remake of Les Liaisons Dangereuse. This drama's characters are not even as nasty as those two let alone the original.

The baby brother and Cinderella were wildly popular so no, it was NOT anything to do with netizens. It had all to do with the fact that they couldn't have the main couple getting together & have their younger siblings get together as well. However, it was incredibly sloppy writing, horribly out of character for both of them, and just a bucket of ice water in the face of the large number of people loving those kids.
As far a PSH goes, that girl had texts on her phone showing that her BFF talked her into making those accusations in order to get money. There is no proof that PSH did a thing to her when she was passed out, & he had a witness who saw her leave HAPPILY the next morning. Your statement about him being in a position of power, her just a trainee, is correct, but that's not enough to cancel out those texts.

Then explain what you meant. I watched the first 2 episodes and did not get that at all. What I got was, oh how interesting - this is really translating well to the Korean drama ideas of how high society behaves. It's very much like Cruel Intentions, but with nicer lead characters.

This will be much more like Cruel Intentions - but yeah, if you hate Les Liaisons Dangereuse, this might not be for you. Although can a KDrama truly make all the leads despicable?
After watching the first (ok, that 2 in one thing) episode, I see already that our leads WILL have a more sympathetic side than in any of the other adaptations of the play/book ( it WAS a book first, wasn't it? I saw the play first...even tho I've READ the book LOL) So you might be able to handle this version.

Really? Can you possibly back up your statements with some pertinent, specific references? I have seen about 5 adaptations of Les Liaisons Dangereures, including Cruel Intentions, and this looks very much like the latter. In fact I'm liking it better than that one because the main characters aren't nearly as mean-spirited - our nasty girl is sweet as sugar compared to Sarah Michelle Gellar's take on the character. I fail to see where people are finding this so horrible, or cringy LOL and boy do I see lots of chemistry going on.

Why is it cringe-worthy? You've utterly failed to give us any truly horrible moments. Who failed to act? In what way did anyone not utter the lines written for them in the way the characters are meant to do? What was so funny that was not meant to be? What was a flopped comedic moment? In what way did Joy make you feel she was NOT the character portrayed?
All these kids are supposed to be 20 & graduating from HS - which ones didn't look like they fit that age?
Have you a CLUE what this drama is a remake of? Have you even seen Gossip Girls which is just something inspired by a remake of Les Liaisons Dangereures? Ever seen Cruel Intentions - which really IS what this is meant to be?
I'm sorry, all I got from your post is your hatred of Joy (for whatever reasons I haven't a clue cause the girl did just fine in her part).

Oh, so glad to see another LITERATE person here LOL I'm also very interested to see how this will play out because in the original NO ONE leaves unscathed...

Just, go read the book.

Ignore the haters here - they lack the knowledge to even begin to appreciate this. Now, I don't know how well this Korean remake will do with the material - there have been quite a few interpretations of this 300 year old tale LOL - but so far so good! I think it will be less bleak and grim cause KDramas generally don't do that well - but the back-biting, hypocrisy, snobbery etc are all here!

Oh, gee, I wonder why? Let's think a tad - this is basically a remake of Cruel Intentions, which was a modernization of Les Liaisons Dangereuses. At least a couple managed to find the similarities with Gossip Girls (which was inspired by Cruel Intentions, but didn't keep the plot).
