Might I just point out that the Winter General is the Chinese equivalent of Jack Frost - I do believe that our Goblin borrowed the Winter General's famed powers, not vice versa. Remember, this is a parody, if you will, of Journey to the West, which dates back to the 16th century.

Uh, you realize the Monkey King ain't gonna die - cause a deity - LOL He's basically the trickster god in that pantheon. So as I'm so sure the Hong sisters are fully aware of this, expect him to pull something completely wild & unexpected to shock & confound the Jade Emperor & company (ie the Heavens), while making sure things end up exactly as HE wants them to.
That would be exactly how all the other stories about him (the mythologies as well as the more recent popularizations) end up - he does the 'right thing' but his own way LOL
So I'm interested in seeing how they do it :D
Plus, hate to point this out, but reincarnations are really one of the only ways a mortal & a god can get together - unless the mortal turns out to really be a deity herself -
which may very well happen here - she seems to be a Bodhisattva (the Sam Jang who appears in the original Journey to the West is a Buddhist priest BTW )

He's a sociopathic serial killer who gets off on torturing & sometimes killing those weaker than him - his idea of a perfect match is an insecure female w/a kid or two so he can torment them. He needs locking up in a basement w/that horror movie character in a pig mask LOL I really could care about his miserable back story.

I guess the whole notion of self-defense is still out the window when it's a married couple still, in SK. :( OMG he beat her up BADLY, cut off her finger - good GRIEF! That's not murder LOL

Sheesh. I love him , I see NOTHING wrong with it & wonder why people hate so much on this. If it were just random or badly done, sure - but it's integrated VERY well & is a bright spot in a drama overrunning with angst.

BTW yes the Korean entertainment companies are rather interested in the ever-widening appeal of KDramas -hence the appearance of Kocowa & the deals w/Netflix. I daresay it is people EXACTLY like me, multiplied, that have brought that about :D I'm very happen about it too, considering the DISMAL state of American TV right now LOL

Honey, I've watched ALL the episodes of this - I simply don't agree that they are acting without emotion. That's my entire point - when you discussed why you didn't like the writing etc, giving examples, I could see why you felt the way you did (although I still don't totally share your opinion). But when you talk about these actors this way, even explaining what you think they are doing, I CANNOT SEE what you mean at all!

LOL Ridiculous. She's an excellent actress & totally pulling this off. If you had not known anything about her you would be whining about this.

She's SUCH a good, experienced actress that she's perfectly carrying this role LOL So silly, the way people get so hung up about real ages.

I've also spent years watching these actors - I too have some experience in the field (mind you, as a CRITIC & writer). You say these actors have robotic delivery. Ok, sorry, don't see that at all. You don't in fact back up your opinion on the acting of these guys with anything that I can see. On top of that when you spoke about the script, etc, I COULD see what you were saying (even tho I didn't agree with your assessment). There was a big difference, in other words.
I don't know you except from this forum. I have no clue what your background may or may not be. However, seems to me you got your little panties all in a twist cause I told you to get acting lessons (ie meaning you really sounded, from that first comment, as if you hadn't any experience - there are a lot of commenters here who simply don't understand the difference between bad acting & bad scripts).
You also completely ignore what I've said many times - your comments are INSULTING to these actors.

An insulting, unsupported opinion is worthless to most of humanity. Exactly.
The fact that you fail miserably to understand that your slurs on these veteran actors are INSULTING just underlines my point.
BTW I've not insulted you at all - I've called out your opinions (some of them) as insults and as unsupported. If you choose to think that Lee Seung Gi, Hong Ki & Cha Seung Won are terrible actors, well, have fun with that. It gives me a rough estimate on how to value your opinion about actors and acting in general, of course.

What makes any opinion worthless or insightful lies in the perception of validity - the way an opinion resonates with others. A supported opinion (ie the reasons one holds the opinion) can make the reader stop & think carefully about their OWN opinion of the subject matter, even if they end up not agreeing with it. For instance, your analysis of the reasons you dislike the writing/plot of this drama did do that (although I can't say I completely agree).
However, unsupported comments, especially negative or insulting ones, that have no basis given, or when given do not mesh with the reality others have experienced (ie your insistence that the other actors all speak in robotic unemotional tones???) - THAT becomes a meaningless opinion, and one that is slanderous (when containing out & out insults, as YOURS did). There are people in the world who insist the earth is flat, and guess what? They are ENTITLED to hold that opinion. But others are free to laugh at them LOL

No you can't take criticism - you've made that explicitly clear. You obviously think your opinion is holy water. I don't CARE if you don't like this. Not everyone will like it. But YOU are sitting there demeaning and insulting some of the most popular and well-loved actors in South Korea, trying to make yourself sound so knowledgeable and important while just being whiny and nasty.
You don't like this drama. Fine. You don't like the writing. Fine. You don't like the acting style in this drama. Whatever.
But to say that none of the main actors can ACT???? In truly offensive language? I'm sorry, that's not constructive criticism, that's a SLUR.
