Just because YOU don't like the way the director/writers are presenting these characters hardly makes the ACTING…
Your opinions on these actors is so out of the way, so minority, so uncalled for! None of the main actors is doing anything you say they are doing - they are most certainly enjoying their roles and playing it up to the hilt! Having lots of FUN with it, in other words! You don't sound harsh, you sound ridiculous. I don't care if you are Howard, Affleck, Allen, or some no name indy guy - doesn't make your take on these actors any more reasonable. Rant & scream all you want, yours is definitely a small wind blowing against a gale.

There you go again - unreal. Sorry, you are free to spout off your opinion, one supposes, but the idea that Cha Seung Won is talentless is almost as ludicrous as the idea that he's NOT doing a particularly fine job here as the Bull Demon King LOL Enjoy your tiny minority opinion - I doubt any Korean casting agencies share it LOL

Because....people... are allowed to dislike a drama? GASP
Whatever - sure - however, guess what? I'M allowed to shake my head & be stupefied that these people are coming here screaming about it LOL Get over yourself. You've already shown that you can dish it out but really hate taking criticism :D

There's isn't soo much hate...rating is 8.8....like anything there will be ppl who won't click well with it or…

On A Korean Odyssey Feb 16, 2018
OMG I really fail to see why so much hate for this drama LOL It's so much FUN! Of course, it helps if one is familiar with not only Journey to the West but with adaptations of it, & anime/drama/film inspired by it. I love seeing all the random characters from the mythology just pop up from time to time :D Mythological cameos LOL The casting - superb! Lee Seung Gi, Cha Seung Won & Hongki are just AWESOME here, and I love our zombie girl loads :D Plus straight man Kim Sung Oh ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ doing his usual stellar job!
I agree this has plot holes & logic fails - not huge ones but there. If you are a stickler for realistic storylines w/consistent straightforward progression, this is NOT the drama for you :d This is fun, silly, & off the wall a lot of the time - total fantasy. But soooo fun! This drama NEVER takes itself seriously, and half the joy is seeing the actors just hamming it up being the various demons LOL

Ah! You ARE an actor LOL
You flat-out said "How is it that these people still don't know how to act even though they've had years of experience?" That is an insulting and inaccurate slur, dear.
You've just given me criticisms of the WRITERS & possibly director. You are only criticizing ONE actor here LOL Which was my entire point all along. You DID confuse bad writing (what you feel is bad writing, which you gave examples enough so that I understand your stance) with bad acting, in other words.
Our heroine is arguably the weakest actor here, I'll give you that. But the rest of the cast is doing a stellar job, bad script or not.
As for my suggestion about acting lessons - you sound as tho you DON'T have a clue what an actor's job is. I say this to all would-be critics of anything-get some idea of what it is you criticize before just plunging in.

Title Return
What nonsense. It's not a soap opera - it's a mystery/suspense drama, dear.
Ok - the definition of 'soap opera' per Merriam-Webster:

a serial drama performed originally on a daytime radio or television program and chiefly characterized by tangled interpersonal situations and melodramatic or sentimental treatment.

Let me underline, MELODRAMATIC or SENTIMENTAL....

You want KDramas that fit the definition, go straight to the weekend makjang dramas, like My Golden Life.

RodolfoEmiliano - Still doesn't make a crime drama a 'soap opera'. Nor a telenovella either....
Just because Korean entertainment companies often do film while airing ALSO doesn't make all Korean dramas somehow 'soap operas'. I'm really sick of that label. It's inaccurate & demeaning (which I'm sure American TV companies mean it to be )

All it takes is for anyone to look at my profile picture to understand why I had any interest in Return. I enjoyed…
I did enjoy her part in this show, & am sad she won't be continuing in it, but still like the drama a LOT & certainly will finish it.

Title Haru ga Kita Spoiler
I can understand the perspective of others in regards to whether he actually loves her or just the idea of her…
That's more explicit. Still think that sort of reasoning to be, well, ridiculous in real life. This young man's mom has not got long to live. In fact by the last scene she may have already passed. The two of them have NOT sat down & talked this out - Naoko is GUESSING. Now, I see how she can reconcile his rejection of her this way, but I don't see how a woman who's got the balls to travel from Japan to Jeju to find out why her lover left suddenly does not have courage to sit him down & confirm all these reasons that they have to somehow part FOREVER. On the surface it seems so bittersweet, deep & meaningful, but in reality, not so much. In my experience (& I'm no spring chicken) this kind of thinking leads to lots and lots of regrets later in life. Better to hash it out & know for certain - or at least hear from your lover that he's not willing TO discuss it (which takes it out of your own hands).

Boys Over Flowers is the worst Korean drama ever!
OMG people. There are so many worse dramas than any mentioned here. The last season of God's Quiz comes to mind. Missing 9 (OMG) - total fail despite the best efforts of the cast. Fashion King. Poseidon. My Lovely Girl. Blood - THOSE are horrible. I'm sure there are others that I never forced myself to watch.
Boys Over Flowers - I hated the manga story & the anime (what I watched of it) but the KDrama had a lot going for it (lots of pretty, for one). Quite well-done, just a stupid story. Cinderella & the 4 Knights had lots of pretty & was fun if one didn't bother to engage one's brain. Very well done also. Again lots of people didn't like the story.

Just because YOU don't like the way the director/writers are presenting these characters hardly makes the ACTING…
LOL - I'm directly addressing your COMMENT, sweetheart. You don't seem to understand the difference between quality of acting, quality of writing, your own personal preferences LOL It's a fail of a critique. I don't know YOU at all.
If you can't handle a criticism of some diss you hand out, you really have no business saying it in the first place. Whining that no one has the right to challenge YOUR holy opinion is ludicrous.
Why not, instead, BACK UP your claim that there's bad acting going on with some concrete examples? That aren't about how you hate the script or the character being portrayed, BTW, but about how one or the other actor is not fulfilling their job of fleshing out that character?

This is just my fav drama right now :D There are some ones of excellent quality & storylines (Return, Mother) but this one makes me SMILE - I enjoy it immensely :D I still, after 13 episodes, cannot get over the perfection of casting for our Monkey King, Bull Demon King & Pig Demon LOL Love love love this kind of mythological stuff :D
