What's the male equivalent of a manic pixie dream girl? cause Muyang is the perfect example: cute and cheeky when he's courting you, but frustrating as a husband. giving her boss a fake TV coupon is honestly a dumbass move cause that's her boss, dude. you could have just had a conversation instead of trying to trick her
I am an American watching from the US and really enjoying the series. I do find it rather melancholy though and…
Me too! I'm on ep 14 so far and it's just heartbreaking. His friends already know who they are because their parents were so invested in helping them grow up. Xiaoman has been drifting his whole life, always living for the moment, never really with a plan for his future. It was fun when they were kids, but now he's falling so far behind and it's painful to watch. As much as I want to dislike Xiaodan's parents, I can't because I understand where they're coming from. If I had a daughter, I would also want her to be with someone who was clear about their future. Xiaoman has a lot of growing up to do to be able to catch up ... but luckily it's a drama, so we know he will. It's just sad that this happens in real life as well and some of those people stay left behind potentially forever.
I understand why this isn't more popular internationally (non-idol drama), but it's really freaking good. It tackles such important themes while always keeping the story centered on the trio. You think you're just watching 3 kids grow up, but you end up pondering questions about community, legacy, how to adapt in a changing world, and the relationship between a government and its people. The pacing is quite slow, but every episode is so rich and meaningful that you can't really complain that any time has been wasted.
While this is honestly a great show full of substance, I feel a bit let down because of the synopsis. It's like I keep waiting for the show to "start" because what I'm watching (up to ep8) isn't what was promised.
RIGHT the story line here has a lot of loopholes the emperor character is very flawed in terms of the story and…
you should read the comment in this thread. the Emperor knows exactly who did it and he believes that Peiyi can solve it, but his hands are tied because he can't get personally involved. he's counting on her, which is unfair but that's politics for you π€·πΎββοΈ
Maybe it is not your cup of tea, so it feels not good to you.Stats speak differently tho, in the mainland. Based…
WXY does most of his acting through his eyes, so if you don't catch the micro expressions you might mistakenly think he's doing nothing. It's very subtle but he's doing a TON of work, and I'd argue it's harder to convey emotion through eyes than make it big and obvious.
If you're on Reddit, the daily episode recaps often discuss his micro expressions and what he's conveying in each scene. You might find it helpful.
I just started this and it's so good. A lot of the reviews I saw were people disappointed, but I'm on episode 6 and the first 5 episodes are so well done and the story is captivating. I really hope I won't end up bored with it the way other commenters seem to be. ππΎππΎ so far I'm totally hooked.
I actually felt the same way. Considering all the promises she made and extracted about facing everything together,…
I haven't finished yet (on ep 26 right now) but I feel that the FL wasn't angry at him.
I read someone's comment that explained that her parents have a history of making responsible for their own happiness, forcing her to give up on her dreams for them. So in that kind of dynamic, it makes sense she'd break up with Zhiyu to make her parents happy, even though she loves him. But she never treats him as guilty. She's just upset he's been keeping secrets.
But the tone of the last few episodes is very different from the rest of the show, and I agree that it feels like a letdown. I think it would have been better to eliminate this whole stadium arc because it's a weak point in an otherwise super strong show.
Have to admit, I'm not a fan of the writers choosing to use the stadium accident as the main source of tension for the final arc. I can't take anything to do with this arc seriously because it seems kind of dumb for anyone to blame a child for something that happened with their parents.
Be shocked? Be thrown off guard? Makes sense. But actual blame/anger is just a bit too melodramatic for me, which kind of ruins the whole 'realistic, mature, everyday kind of love' that I felt the show had been so great at establishing.
This drama taught me not to make hasty judgements because I disliked the whole accident/ghosting plotline and felt like it was relying on cheap tropes. But after finishing, I actually get where Jin Zhao was coming from and it makes total sense for his character. So glad I stuck with it and didn't rely on my initial reaction.
Interesting that it only took 3 episodes to really loving something to dropping it because itβs boring. Maybe…
Huh? where did I say I dropped it? I'm actually watching episode 22 now. I really don't like people who think like you because as soon as someone says they're bored then the response is "dOn'T wAtCh iT tHeN". As if we're not allowed to criticize anything, and we must only watch things we love 100% and never have anything negative to say about.
I've been stuck on episode 17 for days now and I don't want to move forward because the show has been getting boring. It was fun watching them get together but there's been little character growth in the past 3 episodes, and the body swapping isn't as interesting as I thought it would be...
The first 14 episodes had me CONVINCED this was going to be my new favourite xianxia, but now I'm feeling pretty meh about it. :((
this one is just not for me. I tried to like it but I'm bored even at 2X. Made it up to episode 23, but I think I only really enjoyed like 10 episodes in total. Cute and I'm glad others enjoy it, but completely forgettable for me and I don't think I'll be finishing.
But the progress is slow cause I'm also watching all the currently airing dramas for February.
But I'm sorry about your ear problems, hopefully you're watching something else that you're enjoying more.
