Gone With The Wind? It's originally a book from 1936, but the movie came out in 1939.

Scarlet Heart:Ryeo, Chicago Typewriter, Six Flying Dragons(less on the romance but more epic historical buddies type). Angsty(as in full of emotional ups and downs) but not historical: Because This Is My First Life, Prison Playbook, Go Back Couple, Kill Me Heal Me, Beyond The Clouds, Chocolate, True To Love. More rom-comish but fantastically acted and sincere, Live Up To Your Name.

It's an adaptation of Gone With the Wind, one of the most epic love stories of all time, so if you like that kind of thing then yes. Heavy character development, heavy plot points, a couple that keeps finding each other through every hardship, so an epic romance for sure. It is deeply emotional, beautifully filmed, all the actors are giving 100%. You will hate then love or love then hate different characters as you watch them change over time. It's the type of storytelling not many series will gift to us as viewers anymore. Sure it's romantic, but it's also about social convention, duty to your country, duty to your family and friends, and overcoming hardships when everything feels lost.

Watched Modern Farmer a couple years ago, and when he said it I could not stop laughing!

Try Pegasus Market. It delivers on the comedy, the rom is more subtle and sweet. It also interestingly, without spoiling, has one scene that is the most genuine, heartfelt revelation I have seen in any k-drama.

I was watching every week when this was airing, The leads have a tension between them that was really enjoyable(due to the plot). Just don't judge it by current drama standards.

If you enjoy emotional rollercoaster type dramas: The King: Eternal Monarch, Go Back Couple, Chicago Typewriter and My Dearest (pts 1&2) On the darker side there is Prison Playbook, Mouse, The Guest, Save Me and The Deal. On the lighter side, but still really good, 38 Task Force, Catch the Ghost, Psychopath Diary, Mystic Pop Up Bar.

Pegasus Market rounds out the trio of hilarious dramas. Waikiki, Gaus, and Pegasus Market

If Seung Jun and Seo Dan had secretly married, and/or she had been left expecting a baby of his, this drama would have become the best drama EVER made for me, because it would have gone from soul-crushing sadness, to soul-crushing melancholy. hahaha, the latter sticks with you longer.

3 words to motivate you: Second. Lead. Couple.

She goes through some VERY heavy character development tho. I loved this drama so much because both characters are annoying at the beginning and then change for the better because of each other.

Absurdly, ridiculously underrated. The true definition of a rom-com done correctly. At least one of the best ones of the past 7 years.

The ML's personal life aside, if you need three good reasons to watch this, I will list them for you...
1.) Chemistry between leads is the best of both main actors.
2.) Masterclass in acting, the leads are giving you everything.
3.) Every villain, in every k-drama ever, is assembled in this show, and doing the most.

The absolute best versions of this pairing are the main couples in Corazon Salvaje (Mexico, 1993), Vecinos (Colombia, 2008), Hasta Que La Plata Nos Separe (Colombia, 2006 & 2022) and the 2nd lead couple in Al Diablo Con Los Guapos (Mexico, 2008). All coincidentally some of the best series' ever. The only one you might find with Eng Subs is Hasta Que La Plata Nos Separe 2022 version and their chemistry was fire. I honestly wish more Hispanic dramas had eng subs, there are some serious oldies but goodies out there.

That man is so fine, you can't even look at the screen sometimes....*sigh*

It became my number 1 fave ever. It has yet to be toppled from it's throne...pun fully intended. A lot of people don't like LMH but KGE brought out a performance from him that was fantastic. Their chemistry is top, top, TOP tier. It is the most epic of Epic Love Stories.

She was in The Trunk with Gong Yoo, their chemistry is fantastic, on and off-screen, personally really enjoyed it, although the mystery aspect is not for everyone. Mainly skipped the 2FL's story-line. Another Miss Oh was great but I detest Eric's character so much. He ruined her life and he still ends up with her?? Unacceptable hahaha but alas that is dramas for you.

Her highest chemistry pairing was Lee Min Ho, and Gong Yoo's highest chemistry pairing was Seo Hyun Jin. Gong Yoo and KGE had really, really good chemistry but I agree that the age thing might be a factor.

She does serious yet emotional, and slightly sarcastic so freaking well. Her, Seo Hyun Jin and Gong Hyo Jin, are the only k-actresses whose crying scenes actually make me feel their character's pain.

Meanwhile I was over here raging up a storm of squeals because her chemistry with LMH is some of my favorite EVER. She brought out a performance from him that had me on the edge each week. They were fantastic together.
