I know there are lots of things the dramas can't do while adapting the novel. There are so many things to consider and so much less freedom in adapting to live action, especially in c-ent.
Zhang Wan Yi is so perfect for roles like this. His face and demeanour fit sooo good. Please keep acting lots of historical dramas. I did not expect him to pull off comedy at all but he completely delivered. Such a wonderful surprise.

The scriptwriters did very well with the He Zhen-Zhao Yuan and Ziyu-Xue Ji ships, different from the novel and it was a good choice of direction.
This rebellion with Prince Lu is actually different from what happened in the novel. So reading what comes next is not really a spoiler, but is just a summary of what it was in the novel which is also kind of funny.
So in the novel, like you may already know, LMT did not get her memories of being Lu Wen until much later, after she and CXZ got married and had their son. Then she got into an accident while being kidnapped and the clot in her brain shifted and she forgot the 3 years with CXZ and got back her memories until before being wounded and left for dead. Anyway, this rebellion happened because there was a disaster in a county and officials were hoarding relief materials. So one of the people killed an official and became a hero to the people that were suffering. That is how it started. So the main force were actually disaster victims that lost control and banded together and were somehow like a justice movement, but they were crossing the lines. They captured a county and villages and kept advancing. So after it was getting more serious, CXZ was sent to pacify it because Zhenzhou was close to the place. At this time, CXZ and LMT had gotten engaged and were in the capital, because it was after he had reported on the war in the northwest. So CXZ went back to Zhenzhou and introduced LMT and everything and then left for war. Anyway, like in the show, Dowager Consort made the suggestion about bringing Bingham as a concubine and LMT decided to offend her thoroughly so that she would get the message and then left the house through the back door. She did not go back to the house in Lingquan town, but to another of CXZ's residences in the city. And immediately it happened, the Consort prevented word from being spread about her leaving. Prince Sui saw the opportunity to take CXZ out, so he provided reinforcements to the rebels and had his men dress as bandits to kidnap CXZ's family to hold them as ransom. LMT suspected something was wrong and had Fan Hu evacuate the family and meet her at an agreed place. But when Fan Hu went there, Mrs Lian was there and insisted on going too with her family. So in the end, LMT had to split them. She went with the Consort and Fan Hu went with the Lians and other Cuis. It was when LMT group were hiding that she came across four of her former Mount Yang followers. That was when she found out she was Lu Wen. The rebellion led by Prince Lu was actually led by the remainder of her bandit followers to take revenge on CXZ because they thought he captured and killed her. So they were even using her tactics to fight and it made it look like Lu Wen. So "Prince Lu". LMT could not believe her ears lmaooo. And then those brothers stuck to her like glue. Imagine how shocked they were to find out that LMT and CXZ loved each other and were going to get married. They thought she was getting married to him to find a way to kill him lmaooooo. They frequently stressed her out because they kept calling her Boss and they kept following her and kept planning for her escape back to being a bandit. And they never warmed up to CXZ lmaooooo.

Actually from the story, it is more likely the fifth son killed the sixth son because he got paralysed because of the 6th son. How possible is it that the paralysed 5th son survived, while the sixth son drowned? And when LMT asked Nanny Li if the fifth son knew how to swim before, she didn't answer.
So the fifth son is angry because his bright future was stolen from him in that house. Now he lives in the shadows, secluded in a corner, trapped in the wheelchair all his life. So it is not really really like CXZ is his main target, but the entire thing and title is his regret and pain.

Once when CXZ was young, he heard his father telling Zhao Quan's father I believe, when he was drunk, that even with the title and prestige, it is better to marry someone you love than to be forced to marry someone. And CXZ looked down on that idea lol. See him now. Anyway, later CXZ realised that all the other women in the house had similarities in some of their facial features. He and the sixth son were close in age and he got crippled when he was 15. He and the 6th son were going to take the imperial exams together, but Xingdi was the way smarter and better one. Ep 36 is good compensation after everything. I don't think I've watched a cdrama that showed this much of the wedding festivities from days leading up to the wedding and the wedding itself.
I think one reason is because many shows usually have the wedding at the end, as a sign of a happy ending and some have it in the beginning, but like contract marriage trope or forced marriage and stuff, when both leads are reluctant, so there is no actual joy then. But this one did it episodes before the end, when both leads are on the same page. It is really nice.

I watched Royal feast, but did not remember seeing her when I watched fireworks of my heart. It was a few weeks ago I remembered her role in Royal Feast after I saw a clip of the show.
I'm really happy Wang Churan has more fans and recognition thanks to this show. I first saw her and started rooting for her in Fireworks of my heart. I absolutely loved the show and the book and she had amazing chemistry with YangYang too. She's developing and doing so well in her roles.
