That is because she had to differentiate her voice to match the four stages of development of her character.
She is getting paid to do her job which is to act, but it is difficult to dub four stages of development in a human being, while still trying to sound like the same person. Like she has to show that she grew from a baby to an adult in four stages, when she's not currently experiencing that in real life. No matter what, that's hard to do. But most importantly, she is not a voice actor, not a professional dubber. In c-ent, most voices are dubbed by professional voice actors, instead of the actors themselves. This means that it is harder for actors to do their own dubbing with as much excellence. They do not have enough training to do that because of their industry. So she did really well already. As she grows as an actress, she'll do even better.
I replied to a post someone made with a one sentence explanation of why she sounded that way as a water beast and YOU replied to MY OWN comment, but me replying back to you is me arguing with you? Should I have said nothing at all when you spoke to me? And what part of my response is me being a toxic fan? I did not even insult you or call you toxic. I presented a more detailed explanation to you because you replied me.
I'm a multi multi stan and only post when I have the energy to or when I want to defend an actor or character from being misunderstood, and it can be any actor or character on this planet, as far as I understand their POV.
And I did not say she sounds like that in real life. I said there are PEOPLE that sound like that in real life, so I remind myself of that when I hear such voices, to make me more understanding of the character. I like to watch shows from the pov's of the characters and writers.
Its obvious those who are complaining about Gu Jin (Yuan Qi) didn't even get to the part where they explained…
Yes, development is typically slower in cdramas because of the episode number. Especially compared to kdramas, which I'm more familiar with. But I appreciate the storytelling in both and have fully adapted to the drama way of doing things now. You just reminded me of Ten miles of peach blossom. My memory of it is fuzzy, but I was absolutely hooked. One of my first cdramas, and I had not yet gotten into the game then.
That is because she had to differentiate her voice to match the four stages of development of her character.
That is easy to say, but incredibly difficult to do, and is why professionals have commended her for her job in TLI. She is also not a professional dubber, so her ability to change voices is more limited. She is not changing voices for completely different characters. She is showing development in her own person from one year old to a thousand. So she has to have a different aura, while still sounding like the same person. That is very hard. It is not like she is modulating while singing. She is speaking.
How easy would it be for you to mimic the way you sounded from when you were a child till now, and also when you are an old person, wiser and affected by age? That is very hard to do.
I do not agree with the real kids comment. There are adults too that have a high pitched voices in real life. Yes, the high pitched voice is somewhat overused in cdramas, but I tell myself that for some actors, they kinda sound like that in real life and shaming them for it is also like shaming someone for a part of their body that I do not find attractive, so I bury the thought. I try to think of them as real people, standing in front of me.
I think that people really do not like watching shows where there is obvious character development in the leads,…
Oh, also, YQ was always a smart boy. Someone said he behaved foolishly and suddenly became smart/powerful in ep 10. What makes the fact that he called his mother aunt more painful is that he had deduced that she was his mother, but could only pretend otherwise. Like I said before, he was a smart kid, but he is kind and traumatised and so will willingly help people and do his best to prevent others from going through even a fraction of what he went through.
Fun fact: his mother was so so so naughty when she was young lol. And she was also very weak. His dad had a hard time training her lmaoo.
My biggest request since ep 4 has been for GJ to get back his umbrella and I need that to happen before the end of this show for my sanity. He needs to find out who actually saved him and collect his priceless property.
Its obvious those who are complaining about Gu Jin (Yuan Qi) didn't even get to the part where they explained…
The story actually put some effort into explaining his pov in like the first 6 episodes, so that you'd not really need to watch ALP to understand, even though you won't get a full picture like I tried to paint, without watching it. But many people unfortunately skip these dialogues and scenes or do not take them into consideration when analysing the characters.
wow. thanks for the great background summary , this puts a great spin to his character.
You're welcome. I'd actually encourage you to watch Ancient Love Poetry because it's such a good story. I think it was the first Xianxia I watched and one of the shows that made me really give cdramas a chance again. Even now, I'm trying to hold myself back from rewatching again lol.
I think that people really do not like watching shows where there is obvious character development in the leads, especially for the male leads. Gu Jin (Yuan Qi) has said that it was his lifelong dream to be a good for nothing and that is because he does not want the fate of his parents repeating itself with him. This is the part where I'd encourage people to watch ALP because it's frustrating when people do not understand his behaviour.
If you watched ALP, you'd see that YQ was a very bright boy. He also had power and abilities expected of him at that age and status. But like they said in TLI, his mother locked his powers before he was sent away. Added to the fact that he had no desire to cultivate at all and so gain more power and then have to ascend to godhood, you should expect a weak being. YQ in ALP had a mother that he referred to as "aunt" when she FINALLY woke up from her I think thousand year slumber to heal her. Then his father did not really acknowledge him to protect him, and when his mother woke up, his parents were at odds with each other up until his dad sacrificed himself to protect them. So the first and last time he called his father "dad" was when the man was going to sacrifice himself to prevent his mother from having to do it again. Then his mother immediately went to beg the ancient god to bring back his father, leaving him essentially abandoned. And the same blood, the power that his mother had, that made her have to be the sacrificial lamb for the world is flowing in him. Imagine that.
The only constant YQ had in his life to raise him was Uncle Tian Qi. You really can't blame him for avoiding responsibility like the plaque. But he's growing up now, whether willingly or by force. He's getting stronger because he has a job to do. GJ/YQ is less than a thousand years old atm, so for me, I do not even need him to be perfect in the end. No one stops learning and growing, and he's not his father.
Juemei has to ask her out today please. MQC is thinking about marriage, while his roommate is still contemplating asking her out. These two have different speeds lol.
Mo Qing Cheng has had the pedal to the floor since the first episode. And he's not even hiding it. So they have had me giggling and kicking my feet, rolling and screaming. My cheeks want to burst.
When LCF was telling Cui Lin "I musn't die", I kept on saying please you must. You have to, and soon too. And when he said that she'd forget him and live happily with Li Ni, I said, yes she should. Does he expect her to be depressed about scum like him? The man has narrowed his purpose in life down to marrying her and killing Li Ni and that is just pathetic.
they are not necessarily competitors, there are many companies that offer the same product but to different markets.…
I was about to use this same example lol. So many "rival" brands are under one group or holding company. Just like Aneda likes purchasing small brands, like it wanted to purchase TY.
