The jailing and torturing of the doctors and professors were short-sighted at best. Youthful enthusiasm and political idealism are not terribly practical at stopping loss of blood or curing diseases. It took a special tenacity for this family to make the decision "to live" in the face of so much tragedy and heartache.

Most dramas can't afford big war scenes. One of the first things I learned when characters were talking about thousands of soldiers and there were only 12 guys standing around. Or the same shots were used multiple times for different battles. I've learned to multiply the cast in my head or fill in the blanks. ^^
