Review Tai Chi Boxer
Wu Jing is so talented it is hard to remember even he had to start somewhere!
He was a baby in this. The movie was pretty thin but he was fun to watch.

Tyvm for the gift! 🦋💕

I would LOVE to watch something where "nothing really happens" and yet have "symbolisms" 🥹✨It's…
Like I said, this isn’t as strong as other films I’ve watched in this category and I probably rated too it high.

In the end he and the woman dragged his brother (her fiancé ) who had shown small signs of recovery on a pallet while they prostrated themselves every few steps on the road for 5000 miles, though I think they meant km. Supposed to be a month long trip. With his mother following and doing the same.

Same. I think that no justified revenge may have been the point though. They became monsters to fight the other…
Unfortunately, that old perv is in several episodes both flashback and present right up til the last ep 😠

The female detective here reminded me of female detective in Bad Guys - typical case of "we need a female…
I had the same thought! And “even though we don’t know how to write a competent female character.”

“This is not a story about righteous characters - there are no heroes.”

That’s the truth! And totally agree about Kang. I’m usually banging on about more female representation but this character was annoying and unnecessary, especially as written.

Great review as always!

I started it thinking: weak hero for adult story. but damn it was a frustrating watch. I had so many conflicting…
Same.

I think that no justified revenge may have been the point though. They became monsters to fight the other monsters which just left us with different layers of societal monsters. When there is no justice and children are torn to bits emotionally, and complacency reigns, or internet cruelty takes over, does it turn us all into monsters of a sort? Felt like the drama showed the school didn’t have a monopoly on bullying, that children grow into adults and some patterns continue. It was a messy, tumultuous drama and definitely not perfect but I found myself absorbed in it.

Very true. Even when affairs are completely in order, the paperwork here is daunting. 😵Most people with substantial funds are the first to make sure their money is protected. That's why I thought it seemed out of character for two businesswomen to put their heads in the sand with their own financial affairs.

Funerals bring out all sorts of old wounds and slights, which only complicate monetary matters. People's memories and loyalties are subject to change when money is involved, regardless of the amount. For Angie, in this film, it was the complete emotional betrayal of a family she'd considered and treated like her own that hurt her the most. Though receiving a small stipend from what amounted to her own money they controlled for their own use must have been a bitter pill to swallow.

They actually brought that up. There were a number of things they could have done to protect themselves better. Some people have a hard time admitting they are going to die one day and don’t prepare for their loved ones if they are the first to go. It turned out her partner had started a will but it hadn’t been signed yet. I think Pat and Angie over trusted the “loving” family to do the right thing and follow their wishes regardless of legalities. Unfortunately, their wishes were ignored because there was money and property involved.

Sadly, I’ve seen terrible behavior in my own family when people have died, even without the homophobia, and this film certainly triggered me.
