I grade all these old kung fu movies on a curve but even at that this one flunked badly for me. Honestly, the last 10 minutes or so were the best parts of this movie. The karmic comeuppance was hysterical.

Especially as a follow-up to ITMFL. 😔

I watched it years ago. Brutal.

In some ways it felt like a modern remake of Curse of the Golden Flower.

I was debating watching this because of the huge age gap. Reading the spoiler just made the decision for me. Sounds like they dropped the ball on the end.

I just saw your comments on that movie yesterday when I looked it up. I love Gong Li and was disappointed that it wasn’t any good.

She has chemistry with anyone she works with. She’s such a versatile actress. But she and Chen Kun had chemistry that was off the charts. 🔥 Was really bummed her drama with Deng Lun was pulled. Mark about did me in with that bloated Misaeng remake. That was a test of my viewer loyalty. I wasn’t super crazy about the Korean original and only watched his version because he and Bai Jing Ting were in it. He has range but like you said limits himself.

I really would love for them to be in a drama together. Neither of them work enough for me.

This was actually a re-watch for me. 😂It was the late, late movie on tv last night. I couldn’t sleep and didn’t want anything that would engage my mind too much. Mission accomplished! Mark was gorgeous in this even with the scars and I love Ni Ni but this sucker was hard to slog through. I’m used to glossing over anachronisms and logic gaps in fantasy and time travel movies but this movie took those to new heights. Even at that I couldn’t bring myself to rate it lower because of these two. 💕

I get it. When actors use what’s supposed to be the regional accent in my area but sound like Vivian Leigh (a Brit) in Gone with the Wind it drives me crazy.

I wondered about the language issues knowing Michelle has had to work in her native language, Cantonese, Mandarin, and English in various projects. Not knowing the language what I noticed was the dubbing of some actors was not synched to their lips well.

Then you definitely do not want to watch this! There were several dishes that caused me to seek out a snack. 😄

It would be nice to have some resolution after that cliffhanger they left us with for AD.

Princess Agents was one of my first five Cdramas. 💕

I’m not saying Joy of Life hasn’t been painful but I’ve come to terms with it easier. Maybe I’ve gotten used to the pain of disappointment. 😢

Most dramas don’t stay with me but Princess Agents was so well done and acted that it has never left me. Chu Qiao and Yan Xun are still two of the most complex characters in Dramaland. Bummed that we’ll never see the end but I don’t regret watching it even with the agony of an incomplete story.

It has been easier to walk away from Joy of Life, DC, and Ancient Detective not knowing if they’ll ever get a second season.

I don’t know about internationally but Tubi in my region is carrying it.

I watched this as a stand alone. I did a cursory reading on the history just so that I would know who the main characters were since I wasn’t familiar with this history but even that wouldn’t be needed.

When I was reading some stuff I also saw where 36th Chamber of Shaolin along with the old spaghetti westerns were inspiration for KB2. There's a Lady Snowblood 2. I'll have to check it out during the marathon. Might need a quick breather from spurting blood. 😖
