I don’t know if the recent issues/or disagreements on this page came with regards to the pertinent criticisms.…
Is it about the new Covid-19? You know, I work in a hospital, it's a reality that I can hardly ignore, and, if you check the previous comments, you will find one that I published 6 days ago and where I said that I'd prefer for the series to stop airing completely until the situation comes back to normal. I also said that it's an opportunity for the team to enjoy the break to review the aired episodes, to re-edit what should be re-edited and re-write what has to be re-written. I have never, not at one single moment, complained about the delay and the issues related to the pandemic. And my message isn't related to that topic either. I am just addressing a few comments to those who attack every person who dares to pinpoint the shortcomings in the series. I think it's the best moment to publish last-minute constructive critiques so that the team will, hopefully, take them into consideration and the next episodes will meet the expectations, and it saddens me that some people don't make a difference between pertinent critiques and gratuitous hatred. I hope it's clearer by now.
I want to reply to those who whine because of the pertinent critiques that some genuine fans share here. Just so you know, critiques are vital for all artists (writers, singers, movies makers, actors, chefs....) and the art of criticism is taught in schools, it's a prestigious field of expertise, empires are built and others ruined by critiques. Critics rule the roost in all self-respecting industry... Huge companies spend billions to please the critics and famous movie directors are scared of the critiques because they know that the persons behind them hold their success and ruin in hand. A critic is like a teacher or a father who gets kids back on track when, at having their heads too high in the clouds, they slip out of it, and the wise kid is the one who listens to his teacher and father's advices. Those who know their job know that pleasing the critics is a red-carpet to success, but the ones who can't stand harsh and constructive criticism should consider changing careers with no further ado.
So, people, let us express our opinions freely. We can be harsh, demanding and passionate with our reviews and critiques, and have high standards, but we are human beings and fans before all. Those companies are for most of them just starting, they need to learn and improve... and it won't be by flattery that this will happen. Gay cinema is over blind support, now if you want to stand by the LGBT+ community, don't let LGBT+ shows be the laughing stock in the industry. We are tired of third-grade shows. We, too, deserve masterpieces and success. Because you might watch for fun, but there are LGBT+ people here, I am one of them, and for us "fun" is just not enough.
If the professionals accept criticisms, and we are being open-minded with you, why can't you do the same?
*I didn't watch the new episode but I am glad that it's not the actual episode 11. Good point for the crew!
It's easy to be silver-tongued, but how do people make their own opinion about someone/something without taking the time to know them/it first? I watched for Kim and Copter, and, I "didn't bother" as you oh-so-easily say with the other seasons.
Yeah, the thinner a body is, the taller it looks. It's the law of gravity, as the pressure of the attraction is more important on a body that has a more imposing mass.
Strong?... hold on, my brain needs to adjust... rumor or not, do you mean the actor from What the Duck?
I agree. When it comes to this, it boils down to invading people's privacy and it's liable to legal prosecution. There's no fun in hurting people and I detest fan-fiction for this very reason, because when there are no limits, people tend to go too far. If I asked, it's because I know both actors and the idea sounded absurd to me. And, for being gay myself, they didn't seem to me to give off any gay vibes. They are just two friendly young men and it's heartwarming to see :)
Strong?... hold on, my brain needs to adjust... rumor or not, do you mean the actor from What the Duck?
I think it's very unlikely. I saw photographs and videos of them being all "lovey-dovey" but I think they were just fooling around. Moreover, both are rather sociable and affectionate actors in real life, so it's nothing out of the ordinary :)
Yeah...I certainly understand why they did what they did for eps 9 and 10 (even more so now that I know they paid…
This is exactly what I think and I don't understand how some shows can be rated 10 when they deserve very well 1/10. I think the time of blind support to those companies (just because they "dare" filming gay-themed shows) is over, people aren't helping gay cinema when they rub those directors the right way as if afraid to upset them, I think it's time to be demanding. Time to be sharp and pertinent with our critiques, because when the critic says the truth, nobody could say otherwise. Unfortunately there will always be people to give easy ratings and sugar-coated reviews and critiques, unaware they are that they harm the Gay/BL genre more than those who (like me) are pitiless when it comes to critiques... and I am not only referring to cinema, it's the same scourge everywhere, even more so when it comes to books/mangas.
The other thing I can't stand is when viewers give bad ratings to shows just because their favorite character died, or they didn't get the ending they want. Lack of objectivity is as harmful as those soppy, undeserved high ratings!
Yeah...I certainly understand why they did what they did for eps 9 and 10 (even more so now that I know they paid…
Honestly--and I repeat it too much when it comes to Thai BL dramas unfortunately, I think the problems with this series started with the intrigue, it felt like swimming purposelessly in the fog (the proof, both couples are happily "married" already and 80% of the cast is gone missing). With a vague intrigue, the script can only be tasteless and directionless. I won't blame the casting manager for once since the screenwriter was the one at fault, but I won't spare the producer and the director. I think it's their entire fault, it's playing with the public's precious time and trust to start airing something that's not completely filmed yet.. only farmers start selling their stocks of vegetables while others aren't harvested yet. Those movies directors act as if the shows are perishable or combustible.. as if they'd get burned if they don't release them too early.
I ranted a lot about the topic in the review I wrote for UWMA... and I will repeat myself again, they did this because they don't care, for them the audience is predominately young, for them young means inexpert (said otherwise, easily-fooled dummies) and there lies their mistake. The younger the public is, the most experienced it is, the finer taste it has, and the stronger its memory is... they better watch out!
As for your interrogations, I think what I mean is clear. There is nothing to expect from a team that stacked so many professional faults already. The episodes 9 and 10 were only the cherry on the cake. Let's hope they will learn from this and make it up to the fans in the future, a fault is a fault only when it's repeated :)
Yeah...I certainly understand why they did what they did for eps 9 and 10 (even more so now that I know they paid…
True, I know that it impacts many paralleling parties, but I think it's better to lose money and disappoint the sponsors than to lose the audience, as the public is for the industry the only investment that gives a high yield on the long term.
Some see the glass half-empty, for me it's always full. I think the new coronavirus gave them a priceless opportunity to correct their mistakes... they'd be well-advised to seize it and save what can be saved... if not money, their capital-audience.
Before saying anything else, I'll just say that I dropped this series twice before coming back to it... because I was bored at work and didn't know what to do. And the episodes 9 and 10 left me speechless. I didn't know they had problems (I thought the filming was over), so I was wondering why they wanted us so much to attend Tutor and Fighter's "honeymoon trip". The two episodes embarrassed me. As much as the duo is my favorite (not that I don't like Saifah and Zon), watching them for two episodes straight made me uncomfortable. Now that I know the reason, I think there is only one thing to do.
Obviously, the only thing that can satisfy the audience on the long-term and keep everyone safe is to stop the airing right here, to rewrite the script while taking into consideration the critiques of the fans (because some of them are truly precious) and re-editing the previous episodes while filming what has to be filmed once the opportunity comes. It could be re-aired in several months but at least it would be good.
Cinematography is like seduction, one who takes time to dress up and look good can be forgiven even if he's late, but one who arrives ahead of time with hobo looks will most likely be dumped.
Okay so in what order should I watch History (Taiwanese BL series) in?
I think you watched them already, it's been two months but I will reply to everyone else who asks the same question. I think it's better to watch them in this order: - My Hero - Stay Away From Me - Obsessed..... Simply, leave the best last, so you won't be disappointed. In season 2, I think they are equally good (I favor Right or Wrong, personally), and in 3rd, Trapped should be left last I think since MODC is.... meh!
What did Ohm afterwards is not said explicitly, and it's unclear if Wan and Ohm ended up together, it's an open ending that everyone has to interpret as they see fit. This is what happened: Ohm suggested a three-person relationship because he had feelings for both of them, and Tar had feelings for both as well (but Tar loved Wan more). However, Wan refused as he couldn't bear to see Ohm kissing Tar in front of him... in the end when asked if he chooses to get back with Tar (Tar admitted he did something wrong and also admitted that he still loved Wan as before), Wan rejected him because of that something he did, and because he couldn't trust him (when he was himself the least trustworthy of the three), and said that in the end, all the three of them were guilty of something and none was better than the other... Eventually, they went their separate ways, but it was not mentioned.
Usually, when it comes to History series, I watch them as soon as they start airing. But with this one I was stuck on episode 1 and I didn't know why I didn't want to watch it. Now that I read the comments, I think I do.. and I also think that it's time to watch it, come what may... I have no problem with sad endings... but if the story-line is distorted and the ending unrealistic, my rating will be merciless.
Edit: I watched up to the episode 6 and started skimming through it. Let's just say, this is the first Taiwanese drama to disappoint me to this point. It's even worse than History 1: My Hero... at least, although far-fetched and ridiculous, My Hero was entertaining (if you don't expect anything from it).. whereas with this I think they missed something: If you want a tragic ending make the beginning that goes with it, if you want a happy ending write the beginning that suits it, if you want an unexpected ending, make the story that's compatible with it, surprise the audience throughout the show... yet, here the beginning and the ending are worlds apart, the ending sounded baked at the last minute, the dough is still raw... how they call it already... smoke and mirrors. Those who watched Views of Love: Grey Rainbow will understand because it's the same heresy.
Sorry Xiang Hao Ting if I laughed when you started crying.
I read the novel and I like Mork's personality a lot, and the novel is well-written as well, way better than most of Thai BL novels I read lately. However, the script of the series is written by Fluke Teerapat Lohanan. I am curious about his writing talents after having known him as an actor for 6 years now. I am really interested in this little series :)
