It's not just that the revenge was screwed up(also it says Revenge in the Drama's genres).
I would have been fine with a ending that made sense even if it the MC died at the end, and I mean actually died and the writer owned up to it.
this drama wasn't a product of the screen-wrtiters imagination this is an adapted work form a Web-novel, so people were rightfully expecting a similar story with a similar ending, and I know when you adapt form a book to TV you've gotta change stuff and that's understandable, but the screen-writer didn't just do that, she also changed the core of the story and changed stuff midway that had ramifications for the fantasy part of the story, speaking of Fantasy; the screen-writer changed the story so much that it's no longer a Fantasy, the title doesn't even fit this Drama anymore so you could say that it was false advertising. and with all that changes she couldn't write a coherent ending, the ending is chalk full of Deus-ex machinas and plot holes that no one can explain.
You don't seem to quite understand what people were angry about in regards to this Drama, I suggest you check a bunch of the Reviews and past comments from people if you're interested to know, instead of making assumptions by yourself.
Also the ending wasn't particularity sad either, the MC got what he wanted even if it was in the most unsatisfactory/backhanded way possible.

But that's nothing special, a lot of dramas have terrible endings, the problem with RR is that before that ending the story and the acting is just amazing, so to go from that high to that low is the ultimate blow.

Reborn rich did this exact thing to me, it ruined airing Dramas for me and I've stopped watching them, I now wait and make sure the ending isn't something stupid like Coma or amnesia. to this day I'm still angry at the ending of Reborn Rich, it was hands down the worst ending I've ever seen.
Yeah, it kind of makes everything that happened before it meaningless in a way cuz everything we saw is now null and forgotten, it's like how we watch a Drama for 16 episodes and then it turns out that everything was in the ML/FL's head and none of it was real.
After the disaster some drama's endings have been lately, I have zero trust in the time-travel/fantasy genre, Either we find out that the FL was in a coma and hence no time-travel happened and It wasn't even a fantasy(reborn rich), or the ML dies (Heartbeat) or the killer is the most random person the show can find (my perfect stranger) or the Drama drags on forever and the FL ends up with Amnesia (see you in my 19th life).
These Dramas have made me jaded and stopped me from enjoying airing Dramas.

People here on MDL are really cavalier about giving a 10 to Drama that's barely decent, and I believe in free speech and that everyone is entitled to their opinions but giving a perfect score to a Drama that clearly has issues diminishes the value of the Dramas that deserve a 10, it devalues them.
