Dude that's the point. He is dumb, he is hell dumb. He was so dumb in S01. Someone cannot change their whole personality. But they showed good character development due to the trauma.
My theory about the boy doll is after Gi Hun experiencing the game twice knew how to save from the motion sensor doll. So, when he will become front man, he will install 2 dolls to provide more fun to the VIPs. Season 3 gonna be so intense.
After the end of S01, I thought that there's no need of sequels. But watching the S02 made me realise that it actually needs 3-4 seasons to explore the characters and human psychology deeply. S01 was basically for the whole thing in general. S02 for the ML specifically and the soldier's pov.
Two scenes which striked me the most: 1. Gi Hun breaking his new persona while conversing with his friend at night. It shows how much trauma he has gone through. 2. Young il's smirk when Gi Hun came up with small sacrifice of fellow players for the guns from the soldiers. It shows how saving all people isn't his goal but to reach the higher ups. He's also greedy in his way.

For people who haven't read the webtoon, the stories are too fast for them. There are multiple things not included to form the stories of different characters. Btw Hyun Ju eonnie looks good on pfp LoL
There are many theories and the writer wants the viewers to guess. Probably because he didn't love her as dearly as she loved him. He loves her out of sympathy or something like that. OR it's because she ki11ed herself and he's dead by accident. Their path to afterlife are different.

It's okay if you didn't like it. Different people like different things. It's high rated because people who liked the drama, they just didn't like it but loved it way too much that it tops their list but it's just overrated for the people who didn't like it. Understandable.
