When CGI is said to be cheap, it is said because of the quality. I am aware of all the facts you are stating, but money doesn't always guarantee good work. It was heavily bashed at the time due to its CGI, probably because of high expectations. Why would we judge CGI here, they are not claiming to be supernatural or sci-fi. As far as I remember, a lot of dramas came out that year that stand out more overall, like Itaewon Class, It's Okay, Not to be okay, Flower of evil, etc.

Oh, please. Don't mention King Eternal Monarch. That cheap CGI and poor storyline of it still haunts me. They are using almost the same sets here, but the editing style was much better than the white-washed filter of this. We are yet to see more of the sets here, but we won't see much, I think, as the ML is not the King.

No, they're talking about this specific type of production as in the editing. Some other Netflix shows like Love Alarm and Holo Love have this kind of editing where everything feels discrete. Maybe you're right, they produce these dramas in this way because of the concepts
