Even though the second CP has less screen time than the main couple, the novel + the series still included their…
Oh yes, I 100% agree re: the actors - all being treated fairly and all equally involved in promotional aspects. It's good that no one has been left out in that regard.
My gripe is in the way the series was marketed leading up to its premiere. I think it was selling a slightly different picture than what was inevitably presented. It seems like many who read or were familiar with the novel are quick to write this point off or argue it away citing the source material which I understand. The expectations would have naturally been different. But was this series only meant to be enjoyed by fans of the novel? It feels that way. Honestly, I wish the authors had released an official English translation of the novel with the release of the series
And yes, disorganized is a good way to describe the current state of erratic drops and whatnot.
I need to rant for a second about the general marketing of this series.
I understand the source material is centered on one of the two couples but they touted this series in ALL promotional material leading up to its release as having two pairs which to me implied an even playing field for storytelling. Even now it's all 'Desire 4' this and that which of course makes sense NOW that the less featured of the two couples have seemingly amassed a worthwhile fan base of their own, despite the limited screen-time.
I just don't understand why they promoted this series as having duel leads thus two pairs when the script's sole focus was clearly skewed one way. Duel leads implied SSY and SWL when really the sole leads are HL and SWL. It's their story with SWL and GT serving more as supporting characters than duel or even secondary leads.
Also, why do they keep releasing BTS material ahead of the release of its episode? Shouldn't the BTS of an episode follow the episode? Especially when 90% of whatever you're showing didn't make the cut? And am I crazy or are the promo stills they drop mid-week always from the LAST episode? Shouldn't the promotional stills precede the episode to come? Like why are you showing us what we already saw? I understand the sisters(?) are new to making and therefore promoting a series and likely doing a lot of the work themselves while wearing others hats but much of these things just seem obvious and straight up backwards.
They really stuck the angel that is Gao Tu to a cot in a supply closet for his first dalliance with Shen Wen Lang and gave their precious psycho a nice big bed to take full advantage of his victim in the most unapologetic manner possible.
I'm so lost even after rewatching eps 1-3 last night, but I'm pretty sure it's (mostly) me 🤣
I do think it's busy though - there's A LOT going on - and the main leads have weak to borderline nonexistent chemistry, possibly due to the story building around them being too busy for their chemistry to actually come across and be felt at the moment. Or maybe they just don't have chemistry at all. I'm not familiar with any of the actors or their previous work outside of this series so I don't know for certain either way. I just know that if it exists I haven't seen it (yet) and in contrast the other two guys had very noticeable chemistry in their first scene together, but they've also got far less drama going on so...
All this to say... I'll still be tuned in next Sat. 🫠
Barcode is actually really good here. I was not a fan of his work in KinnPorsche (sorry!) so I'm genuinely impressed to see him in this new and improved light.
Also - does anyone recall who Boss's character was in the OG pilot trailer?
This was the first thai bl I've ever watched love this thran and type all of them actually are so cute I love…
It was the 2nd one I watched but I agree with everything you said! I was annoyed by his hot headedness at first but after awhile I found it and him more endearing than not lol
The HIV bit was shocking but in good way so I was more than a little disappointing to see it get wrapped up and swept under the rug which such quickness. I think that storyline could've made for a really great subplot had it been given the time it deserved to be explored.
And am I nuts or were they totally paving the way for Pure/Waan in the beginning? I liked their friendship more but even that build up seemed to disappear in the latter half to where it felt like they were barely even friends at all!
So yeah... a directionless series of missed opportunities and poor executions this is.
Mild really dull as far ? He's cute I guess but doesn't really have much going for him in terms of character?…
I just can't with wallpaper-like characters fronting series - it's not enough to just be cute and that certainly shouldn't be the only thing you are! I can't root for that. It's lead character giving background character energy. He stays giving us nothing!
I'm with you on the friends and I too am fond of those tropes! Hopefully we see some progress with them. It's kinda sad yet also speaks volumes that all we've really seen them do together is eat and they're still a more intriguing duo than Knight/Mild 🤣

Let me stop here before I go in on the games lol

So glad I stumbled upon it.
Hopefully a positive sign then.
