I don't know what is more mind-boggling... the lack of a second season or the fact that the actor who plays Son hasn't been cast in anything since this came out. He's so handsome!
edit - the guy who played Max is also too good looking to not have booked anything since this like wtf
I liked the trailer more than the actual series π
Things got tediously repetitive too early on. Not that this was the only issue plaguing this series, but I think a 10-episode order count was overly ambitious for the story being told and ultimately did the storytelling a major disservice.
Most series would benefit from an additional episode or two but this would've done better with half of what it got. If that. Honestly, I think they could've easily told this story in a 2-hour special or "movie" format and yielded a more favorable response from viewers.
Same screenwriter & director as that embarrassingly awful LiTA adaptation, but it looks like they made more of an effort with casting so I might check it out.
What and when was the last official update on this?
I could maybe comprehend indefinitely shelving a movie or even a short series but SIXTY 45 min episodes?!
Other series seem to be pushing through, albeit the difficulties imposed by China's ban of the content. I feel like there could be something else going on in addition to that that's affected the release?
In any case, if I were the director or anyone else who worked on this I'd be leaking and teasing footage on social media like crazy in hopes of it maybe enticing some bigwig in Thailand to take it on.
I hear you... I'm curious to see how they'll explain it away and/or spin it for redemption once SSY becomes privy…
I haven't read the novel yet(?) but it sounds like you have which naturally would make it easier for you and others who have read it to fill in blanks and make better sense of character dynamics than those of us who are being introduced to the story for the first time.
As is, I feel like I NEED to read the novel just to make sense of what I'm seeing play out onscreen as far as THEIR love story is concerned instead of WANTing to read the novel for additional details, if that makes sense.
As for HY, I think his years long "love" for SSY has been made clear onscreen, even though we've been left in the dark for the most part re: some of the details: what took him so long to make a play, etc. It's SSY's seemingly overnight adoration of HY that needed work though. So far his side of "love" has mostly been told rather than shown: his friends have alluded to him being a player of sorts more than once; we were also told he had one long relationship out of his many former lovers. Yet out of nowhere he's a one-man man for HY. But WHY. This could and should be clearer.
Sooo I've been hesitant to watch this cuz I felt I wouldn't like the main story about the enigma lying and pretending…
I hear you... I'm curious to see how they'll explain it away and/or spin it for redemption once SSY becomes privy to all that he has done to get him. For me the bigger issue is their relationship feels more insta love than not. I'd be more likely to care far less about how manipulative HY is in scheming to make SSY his man if the build-up for their coupling had more substance. I made a comment earlier about how it felt like I blinked my eyes and opened them a second later to see them playing house like an old married couple. Ultimately I'm just not understanding what SSY sees in HY besides a pretty face. Like he isn't even reaping any boyfriend benefits in the physical sense!
I too find the 2nd couple more endearing and as annoying as I found their lack of screen-time in the beginning I now think the snail pace progression worked more in their favor than not as the little glimpses of moments we got of their characters and shared history established a basis for those characters and their relationship to each other. The main couple is missing that very basic foundation and thus I'm struggling to connect with or care about them.
I always start thinking of how I'm going to rate the show when it's nearing the end and I thought well this has…
Yes! The last episode of a series is likely to leave the more lasting impression too! It's the one last shot to right a ship or steer it towards an iceberg! This opting for the latter.
It's kinda funny how this series now has Cutie Pie looking better by default if only because as good or bad as that series may actually have been it at least never proposed to be anything other than cute fluff - unlike this series which wildly oversold itself as being something more on a grandeur scale. That alone is enough to magnify one's disappointment.
It feels like the build-up to their getting together was completely glossed over, unlike the much slower yet notable progression we're seeing play out for the 2nd couple.
Was the start of their relationship more fleshed out in the novel?
I guess I just can't help but feel like I blinked and opened my eyes to them playing house like an old married couple when so little time has actually passed.

Oh well.

HE BETTER SURVIVE

Clips of discovery/break-up have both of them in the same outfits as the fight scene so it's for sure the same day.
