Exactly. if you want to give all the screen time to the main couple then why you include two more side couples…
Too true. They had PLENTY of minutes to work with and ample opportunity story-wise to properly establish every pairing and character so devoting every minute to the lead pair down to the very last millisecond was a choice! And it goes beyond the pairings too because they didn't give a damn about Ava either! Why even put these people on the poster?
You'd think they lacked creativity or something. Then again, the royal crescents were kinda giving Hogwarts so... 😭
Totally agree. I have no idea why they even had Calvin & Jay in the series, they didn't seem to have a point…
Yep, both side pairings were disrespected but Calvin & Jay were an absolute afterthought. Ramil & Paytai at least had some development, however minimal, before being tossed aside. Calvin & Jay didn't even get a proper kiss 🤣
it was sooooo bad. the first 3 eps were not bad and then it was all down hill.
Yep, everything was far more interesting before they reached the castle. The dynamic between Khanin x Charan was especially better. I liked that they were at odds (a dynamic Zee + NuNew play well) when they first met and how Khanin softened up a bit on their route to the castle. Then they got there and it felt like we were seeing totally different characters who were on the brink of being in love. How long was that train ride to Emmaly to have expedited such feelings? Lol
Rewatching and I'm even more annoyed... the episode is nearly 2 hours long, so it's not like anyone could even make the excuse that there was a shortage of time because there literally wasn't, and yet with all that additional time they still chose to pay the other two couples dust in favor of subjecting us to 5+ mins of Khanin x Charan aimlessly strolling around the mall and 10+ mins devoted to their final love scene.
Aside from the screen-time hogging being an obvious disservice to the other two couples it did no favors for the main couple it was meant to benefit either! How do you make an insufferably boring main couple more palatable to your audience? By weeding in other characters and/or couples to offset the focus a bit. Throughout the series it only HELPED Khanin x Charan to have other characters with side stories of their own around as those two other couples provided a very necessary respite from their boring coupledom. So why the heck would you not lean into using those side couples more in the finale when you have even more time than you did in a typical episode to do so? Makes no sense!
And yes, I know and understand that this is technically THEIR series but they're undeniably boring characters, both by themselves as well as together, and if and when that can be helped it most definitely should, right?
I don't know who the writer or director of this mess is but he should really take a hiatus. I don't know who the writer and/or director of this mess was but he needs a hiatus.
This lost me in the last half but it's also not a genre I especially like so for it to have been engaging enough for me to at the very least want to see it though to the end is something.
If anyone from Domund/Mandee is lurking – now would be the ideal time to fast track release of Zomvivor. Your general audience needs a reason to forgive & forget the colossal disappointment that was The Next Prince and what better way to cleanse that palate than with zombies?
Zee really needs a new partner. ORThey should pair Zee and Max for their next project.
omg, the wars that pairing would trigger 🤣 I would love for Max to work opposite of someone else but I don't know about Zee lol
I think these studio heads need to deprioritize fixed pairings (unlikely they'll do away with them altogether) and get back to the basics of holding AUDITIONS for each and every role. If a pre-established duo is right for the gig then so be it, but this whole GIVING fixed pairings projects on the basis of popularity alone is clearly not it.
Trust, I so wanted to like it! Would literally watch each episode 2-3x in an effort to change my own mind about it! I tried, girl! 😭
