Okay but plot aside, I just knew he’s such a menace that the way every single person he knew was genuinely so shocked cuz no way in hell had they ever imagine the great Xie Zheng to act so pathetic cuz of love. Specially the scene where the princess find out that he’s the husband Chang Yu was talking about. She’s laughing and shit cuz the the gymnastics he’s willing to do for Chang Yu is so out of character for him
Gurl LMAO, I think everytime Xie Zheng hears the words divorce from changyu he loses about a year off his lifespan. He heard the word divorce the moment they reunited and he immediately spit out blood.
There is a stark difference between changyus and qians character which makes changyu a jade .Changyu was trapped…
Gurl what are you on? Her CHILD (the very reason why she chose to hide and run away from her husband) is at the verge of getting killed. What is this victim blaming mentality at the big year of 2026? She literally had no choice but to do what he wants cause she didn’t want HER CHILD to die. If anything her submitting herself to that lunatic shows you how strong she is a as a woman, she’s willing to humiliate and sacrifice herself if it means saving her child.
The biggest strength pf this drama is the writer because to be able to deliver a rather complex character connections and plot in such a simple way takes skill.
First thing I really like in this ep is how they are introducing the intentions of both Li Huai An and Chancellor Wei. We get a glimpse of the possible motivations that will be influencing their actions later on. I really love that they decided to expand LHA’s character cuz he had a lot of potential in the novel but there was so much going on that the author weren’t able to explore his conflict more but in this episode his master entrusted both the fan sister to him and add the one sided feelings he will have flr her, I’m looking forward to who will he end up siding with. Not to mention his connection with Xie Zheng is actually a really refreshing take, it makes you curious on how the two of them see each other given they both recieve some sort of training under General He.
Now with Chancellor Wei, who dare I say is probably the most complex character in the novel. It seems they will go full on morally gray for his character rather than just making him a plain bad guy. This episode shows us that he cares for his nephew in his own way. But whatever he is hiding behind the death of his nephew’s parent seems to matter to him more. He was strict with xie zheng but he never was lazy with the education and care he gave to him that’s why XZ was very conflicted when he found out the truth.
The writer for this drama is really good, they were able to integrate the grain provision plot really well into the story during the court scene without introducing a ton of new characters.
LMAO the trolls are starting to come in, but in all seriousness its a drama at the end of the day. If you don’t like it then maybe stop watching? what’s the point of coming here and talking about the drama team faking the heat index and popularity
Personally, whether he turns bad or not doesn’t really bother me, as long as it makes the plot more thrilling. As…
Yeah that’s why im actually hoping they will do his arc in the drama a bit differently cuz in the novel he kinda gets caught in the middle and you don’t really get to know what his ambitions are. I wasn’t really satisfied with what the author did to his story line in the novel so I’m hoping the writers can expand it more.
Seeing that he got introduced a lot earlier in the drama and his relationship both with General He and Xie Zheng already seem more detailed. I kind of want them to play with the idea of whether he would choose to side with his family or side with what is right.
I don’t really like seeing a love triangle conflict in dramas cuz most of the time the writers butchers it a lot, hopefully they handle it good in this one if they really go for that route.

Totally, I actually wouldn’t really be surprised if they turn his character to someone who thinks his doing something good but is actually just as bad as the others and ends up turnjng full villain later. It’s just that I really like his growth in the novel thats why im hoping they will be able to do justice when portraying his conflict with his duty and feelings but then again if it wont help the plotline they might just adapt it differently.
I’m hoping they would make Li Huai An’s character arc stray a bit from how he ended up in the novel cuz he really did have good intentions but he got too caught up in the political struggle so he did what he can to help (in his own way iykyk) after realizing how much shit his family has cause. They better keep the part where he respected the leads relationship and he didn’t try to act on his feelings cuz it would get so annoying if they inserted a love triangle, that would be such a disservice to the plot.
lowkey hoping they would keep it lol, but they will tone it down cuz there’s no way that will pass the censorship
Definitely, the little unhinge thoughts he had when they got back together was tolerable but he gets way too crazy during the last chapters of the novel
I literally dragged myself back here to lament the loss of Gongsun Yan literally thinking his spies were tripping(…
Right? Lowkey hoping the drama still let them meet like that even if it happens earlier than in the novel cuz I was really looking forward to it getting adapted.
I need to see a live Gongsun Yan reaction to seeing his buddy having some girl weeping for him and how different she looks from what he imagine.
