I am also upset with the BE in Ep 40. The writers could have deviated the ending from the novel to be honest.

I cried my eyes out after so much sufferings that WZ has been through & has to die. Freaking old emperor is so power hungry that he wants to kill anyone that may be a potential threat to him. The only consolation is that PY managed to get the new emperor to clear & free the Yuelo people. Thank bloody god that he was not trying to hold JC back like in the novel. JC & WZ’s son is so cute. I have not watched ep 35-39 yet & like you I am so depressed to watch them.

I so wish we have a HE as it is too painful to watch JC grieving for her siphiu’s death & WZ feeling guilty & helplessness of this mess they’re in.

It’s too late to regret now as JC was put in this situation thanks to to his selfishness for revealing her identity to the evil emperor. WZ’s identity will also be revealed in tomorrow’s episode & things will just go downhill from there. I was wondering whether WZ had to go to war to defend the Liang’s state in exchange of the emperor’s forgiveness. Obnoxious PY will not have to go through humiliation, suffering the way WZ has to endure.
