Agree, what has FL done to him so that he has ruined her life like that? He is resentful of his mother controlling him & making decisions for him? Because of him, telling the Zuo guy to spread rumours about her that FL nearly died. The issue lies with the mum, Yu mother not FL.

I haven’t read the whole novel but read the last few chapters first. ML & FL have 3 sons & 1 daughter & happily married. Yu Jing Xiu & Yake have not had a happy marriage with no kids so Jing Xiu has many concubines & try for children. Jing Xiu was accused of having an affair with a married woman which led to the death of her husband. He fell out with his parents & moved out of their house to be with that so called married woman. ML has worked on a corruption case which involved the Yu family (father) & the murder case of that married woman. Jing Xiu’s father was accused of corruption ( horses sale), stripped of his title, sent in exile but died along his way. Jing Xiu was also convicted of murder (married woman’s husband) & would have been executed had ML not negotiated for him to be sent in exile. Someone asked ML why did he choose to help him instead of letting him being executed. ML replied that by letting him live so he could feel the pain of his destitution (I.e my view is that he wants Jing Xiu to feel the pain of his bad deeds (the pain he caused to his wife FL). Yake is just useless, not really helpful to the Yu family. She became jealous & bitter of Jing Xiu concubines. The Yu family lost their wealth, prestiges & just became commoners. I am currently reading the beginning of the novel & it’s a bit different from the drama.

Yake is trying to convince herself that Tingyun’s death was no caused by her? Really, how can she be so delusional. Being ambitious is normal given her low status but hurting her best friend to get her own glory is another thing. Karma may bite her later on.

My favourite moment was Li Rong Zhang telling Miss Hai that she was lucky he didn’t kill her even why she tried to assassinate him because she has his late wife. He the walked out in normal clothes towards the Zhang’s factory & blew everything up. Sob 😭

The other clues are from previous episodes I can’t remember the exact one perhaps in episode 31 when ML & FL had a nice chat & she said to him if he were to die then she would put a tombstone with no name but the biggest jerk & then she said don’t die. In last episode, ML was stabbed by the Zhang guy & was heavily wounded then sat there in a fire whilst the factory continued to explode. Even when he heard voices of his late loves ones telling him to stand up & run to FL & son, there was no way he could have escaped that big explosion alive. It’s a sad OE.

I see it as an OE/SE.

It has the French touch of OE & hate that.

Someone in the comment section made fun of me when I said that scriptwriters were bad LOL. Well, it shows it today with that ending. For me ML died & it’s not even an OE.
