In the novel there 0 affection, its just because he was a kid, his son who was manipulated throughout his life, hence ML did not kill him. But yes, actually just like ML, his son is a victim too! Nothing is supernatural here! There is mystery, murder cases, mostly women victims! The entire thing is set up in historical premises! There are 7 cases, all connected to the palace. FL is a detective/investigator, ML is a smart astronomer with photogenic memory who join hands to find the culprits, who seem to be someone powerful in the palace. FL also has a traumatic past, again connected to the palace!

Yes he wrote all that in the letter, and FL did understand him. That was a nice scene. In today's episode or tomorrow there is a scene, where ML tells he will send her out of the palace if something dangerous happens, and FL tells him she will choose herself and will survive. So he gives the letter to her guard and sends her off to protect her. She wakes up reads the letter, understands him and returns to find him and they reunite!

FL was locked in the room two times, once it was fake, it was plan of her and ML to show ML hates her, that was really funny, in the novel there were really good scenes! Another was serious, ML's injuries flared up, he was uncontrollable, he was angry FL went out of the palace and was almost kidnapped by Prince Duan so he told guards to lock her up, and to kill all the guards of FL because they failed protecting her! He was not normal then. But 15 minutes later he came back to his sense, like it was like a split personality, he stopped the killing of her guards, freed FL, apologized everything! The drama gets dark in some parts, but everything was handled well in the novel! The dude Bai something, he is like a spy for ML. He later likes FL but FL rejected him, its not that serious, its funny, he is a good person! Empress will be defeated by 18-19 as per emojis, but Prince Duan will be till the end! He is the main villain, will be defeated for sure!
