The whole story is about how they defeat the stepmother and Prince Duan and make the kingdom a happy place to live.
Things might get angsty later, when ML's illness causes him a lot of pain and hence make him behave like a tyrant. But things will end well, they have a partnership. SFL later supports them.
Empress Dowager dies after defeat. Prince Duan gets imprisoned and dies later in jail. Crown Prince tries killing ML and FL hence is kept in house arrest forever. ML and FL have a happy life together as Emperor and Empress. ML gets cured of his poison. That's a happy ending of the novel.
ML after spending a long, dies first, and transmigrates back to the real world, 10 years back when he was a kid. He grows up in the real world with all his memories, takes right decisions, is smart, hence becomes a CEO of a company and waits for FL. FL dies later in the novel world transmigrates back to the subway. They meet, and get reunited. Hence a happy ending in the real world as well!

There is a lot difference when you read something and when you see it happening! The way ML's eyes shine when he thinks/speaks or looks towards FL! He is so in love, he ignores everything she says just concentrates on the part that she trusts him! As he says "she is his lifeline". He is in love since Day 1. And he doesn't even need to say that, his eyes tell everything!

He cares for her so much because he doesn't want her to be alone like he was, he was just a child then! Circumstances made him a tyrant, but we can already see he is repenting and coming towards being a good king with the help of FL.

This is a discussion page, you have full rights to criticize a drama you don't like, though from my perspective a sane person would drop it and move on and not waste time on it, but again you have the choice not to do it! No he makes her drunk every night! He is the majesty if he orders she has to! In fact in a teaser released, ML tells FL to come to his room, because he is unable to bear drunk SFL anymore!

Its the plan of FL and ML. FL falls out of favour with ML and ML begins to come closer with SFL. Hence SML will distrust SFL but might trust FL and tell her his plan! While this was initially, we as viewers and FL and ML have understood that SML doesn't trust anyone!

FL's maid! She is a spy for SML. She leaks stuff to him! That's why even before he understands all their plans, and FL mistakenly believed that he was a superior character!

I love the drama! I love the action scenes! I love how cool FL is! I love how smart ML is! Also the subplot of romance is really working well! Loving the slowburn!

I think they have started to ton it down now, and they would do it more later maybe! Because for the first few episodes, the novel clearly mentions that FL plays a seductress and applies more makeup, for which her maid even mentions it! So I think they deliberately did it to make it like the novel says!

He is always handsome! But to look this kind of beauty especially when there is another ethereal beauty Wang Churan with him continuously, is a major feat! His costumes, makeup everything did him justice!
