I really like the direction in the drama. Its nice, if you see closely, initially ML would limp while walking. Now the limping is a little reduced, but its still there. I am so glad they did not show him running just after he could stand. They showed him falling down, again standing up, practicing. His entire cure is done really well, in "drama standards", but it was not draggy as well. Plus the best thing, he can stand up before the drama has reached its half. So we get a lot of episodes seeing him in activity as well. I am a little scared about Yeli's healing, because this is much of a sensitive issue than physical healing. But they have started it well, taking a calm approach to it.
I don't know, but seeing MXY walk feels oddly wrong.I got so used to the wheelchair that I wasn't ready for this…
This, when Yeli came back home and was looking for him, and found him standing in front of the pond watching fishes, it was so weird for me at first. We all got used to him in the wheelchair, that it will take a little time for us to get used to the new variant of him. Especially the scene, remember she was writing letters, he came via his wheelchair, and left it, walked and sat beside her??๐๐He is using it as a bicycle now, lol.
This is true. People have a very less attention span these days. Normal pacing, natural things aren't appreciated…
I have just started watching cdramas since the last 2 years, so I do not have a lot of knowledge about it. But I don't want to deny, I really like idol dramas. In fact, I think @MariaB even pointed out in one of the replies, dramas like these are a lot of work, people are lazy, so its understandable. As I said target audience is different. Surprisingly they took idol actors and made a drama like this. So many idol drama watchers thought the drama is for them, but eventually they realized its "boring", when its just not their taste.
They did not clearly explain this part. I think when ML knows the truth, we will get a little more explanation…
Mo Xiaowen was never a traitor. That's why he could never instruct his army to fight against other armies (of the same country/empire), causing deaths amongst themselves. He and his army was imprisoned regardless, when Yeli's mother met him and asked for the location. Marquis Muyang's faction was too powerful at that moment. So Mo Xioawen did what he felt was correct. I do not want to reserve my judgement before full information is out though. I actually commented the same thing, few hours ago, after watching episode 16. But I got around 80% of the answer I was seeking. So lets see.

I agree to you. Target audience is mostly different, though there are some common people as well, like me. I love those dramas, because it gives me the fun aspect. I ignore a lot of plot holes, to see beautiful people on my screen. But that doesn't mean I cannot appreciate real good stories. If they continue the same thing till episode 40, this might be the best Chinese Drama I ever saw.

Yes I actually saw comments that Leizi and Lulu have a lot of chemistry offscreen but surprisingly not during the scenes as MXY and Yeli. I feel very different about this. I had mentioned this 3 or 4 days back as well.
In this drama, every thing is done very naturally so is their relationship. In most of the arranged marriage trope dramas as well, if there is a sudden hand touch or something, they flick, with over dramatic music they make a very romantic atmosphere, show sexual chemistry, through sudden falling, pulling, saving scenes. In this drama they did nothing of it. They stare at each lovingly. The day they slept in the same bed, it was so realistic. In this drama, they have kept the entire thing as close to reality as possible in regard to their relationship. Nothing was awkward between them, sudden heart bursting moments, nope nothing shown. This is the reason people thought kiss had no chemistry. In fact we just got the kiss for 2 seconds.
They had so much chemistry when she held his hand and slept in the temple. When he put his other hand on her, kissed her forehead, and had teary eyes. Haha with red ears.
Can somebody explain to me why ML's brother got imprisoned because he had no edict, but then told FL's mother…
They did not clearly explain this part. I think when ML knows the truth, we will get a little more explanation as well. But it seemed to me, that ML's brother always knew it was a trap, and hence he hid the edict somewhere. Empress Dowager had him arrested, and accused of treason. I think he feared the edict being taken away from him, so he hid it. FL's mother told him her father was coming from Lishan. Her father was an influential person. Not only he was the headmaster, but also teacher of Empress Dowager, had relevant power in the capital. He was ready to plead on behalf of ML's brother. So ML's brother told her the place where he hid it. But eventually it was snatched away, and we know the rest.
I really don't understand how such a well written, well acted, well shot story is sitting at 8.5 while Romance…
This is true. People have a very less attention span these days. Normal pacing, natural things aren't appreciated as such. They are often called boring. Honestly I don't even blame them. People are seeking entertainment. With so much already happening in real lives, most of the people just seek fun, enjoyment in dramas. At the end of the dramas are an escape from reality. So most of them don't seek real things or trauma in the dramas. Its becomes too intense for them. I saw a comment today, some one said- Though I like the actors, the FL is mentally not fine, ML is physically not fine, where is the fun here? You can never convince an audience like this. Its okay not every drama is for everyone. Ratings in MDL don't matter as such, yes it gives us happiness though. Positive word of mouth is high for this drama though.
When I had seen the QingShuang scene in the trailer, it was scary. But today in episode 17, when it actually happened, it was so unsettling, so weird, really creepy. QingShuang is there, but isn't there.
The way MXY had fearful eyes initially, but when Yeli looked at him, in a split second he smiled, and when she looked away, he looked at her with concern. The entire scene gave me goosebumps. I think he was less shocked, because he had his doubts initially. He heard her talking before alone, he saw her about to kill grandma but stopping, he understood she could fight, but she denied it. Maybe he was in denial too, hence the initial shock, but later he got the confirmation.
For sure, really well enacted by Lulu and Leizi. But totally creeped me out.
Seeing A'Yao walking around feels different. Like man is back on his legs.
Exactly, every time he stands and walks, I feel a little different. Maybe I got used to see him in the wheelchair. Haha. Some one on X wrote, its weird to see him without his Ferrari๐.
