I know you wouldn't have a problem when the focus is more on FL, that's why I said you would love this, haha. I enjoyed their relationship, though the focus was not on romance for half of the drama, they had crazy tension though. They were sarcastic to each other, teased each other, it was fun.
About the cast, I actually read the drama last October, after reading POJ, because the novel was just recommended to me on the site. I did not even know it was getting adapted, the cast was not even announced. Its so strange I imagined Dylan as ML. I have only watched Dylan in Only for love, a modern drama, and many variety shows. But he sometimes does that smirking look, and the male lead here does the same, he would be brilliant for it. I was so shocked when he was announced, maybe I manifested it too hard, haha.
Shen Miao on the other hand, is very difficult as a character, Meng Ziyi is good, its just in my interpretation of the novel, Shen Miao had a very innocent looking face, but very clever. Meng Ziyi has a very mature face, she is not a baby faced woman. The clever thing she can portray, the innocence I am not sure. But Shen Miao is such a complex brilliant character that I think it would have been difficult for anyone to play that. But I saw the Reuters, they look good together, so lets see.

I have LFY, The Husband (which I will drop if it doesn't interest me this week, even Namkoong Min cannot make me watch a drama whose plot seemingly should be appropriate for a 2-3 hours movie, I have no idea what will they show for the rest 10 episodes), this one ( I liked the trailer). BOP I want to watch but its trailer did not interest me a lot (did you watch, motivate me to watch it). Also Wow the world, and Goblin cast reunion variety shows.
Also staying awake after midnight for worldcup, its too much😭

Haha I read POJ first, but when I read this one, it surpassed everything I ever read with the revenge trope. Its actually very nicely done in the novel, the girl starts with scratch to reach to a level, just like POJ remember, we all read how her transition happened from a simple butcher to a general. It did not seem abrupt to us the novel readers, but the drama did not have enough time for that. I am so scared this one would take the same route because this one is even longer than POJ.
The difference between this and POJ would be the romance part, POJ had a real beautiful romance in the village part, this novel wouldn't have that. Also POJ was more about clearing their parent's name, striving for justice. This one is pure revenge taking.
I think this one had 230 chapters around, but for the first 100 chapters, ML was only in few of them, barely there. It purely focused on FL's growth, but I enjoyed that part. In the rest 130 chapters, he was a big factor.
I am going to re read the novel before the drama re releases, haha.

She dropped flex x cop season 2 to act in See you at work tomorrow which is currently airing. Flex x cop season 2 release date is early August, so it seems the filming dates of these two dramas clashed.
This drama with Song Joongki is currently filming and will air in 2027, so doesn't seem this clashed with Flex x cop season 2's dates.

No ML was not dark, FL was darker than him haha. But they suited each other so much, and FL was so brilliant, I mean she did not know fighting but I think her brain can be sold for millions.
It was just that 2-3 scenes were a little, like I remember one of them was really dark, I will never forget that scene, but I am not ruining that for you. I don't think they will show that in the drama, it will be censored.
But romance I would say is a subplot. Revenge is amazing, palace politics on its peak. The leads are allies, become partners but they were suspicious of each other for around half of the drama, but I really enjoyed their interactions it was full of sarcasm. Even while reading you could feel their tension.
Its just that some things done by ML and FL were kind of questionable for people who really consider ethics and morals. But from my perspective, in a revenge story, I want a cold blooded revenge, ethics against enemies, I can do away with it as well.

Nikollll read the novel, you would love it. Its the best novel I have ever read with this revenge trope. I just hope they can adapt it like that. Its not at all hard to understand, there are many characters, but they introduce it nicely. Its really fun. Just for the first 100 chapters, ML was barely there.

Yeah I think this is the same response every parent has. My dad used to stay stuff this is nothing, you know I faced this, and my grandpa would counter that with a more tragic story. I think I will do this with my kids, telling them about covid. This would be a never ending cycle😅.
