Not really a trope in this case it’s integral to the plot because the poisoning at that time led to her current condition. What did they give her that mixed with her blood causing her to shapeshift? Was the poison really meant for her and not the dude? Who were those people and why was she targeted? I hope the series delves on the past and gives us a neat explanation.

I kind of agree. I honestly don't know why she's still going gaga for a person who slowly poisoned her to death. I mean, he saw her grow sick daily (she herself commented how 'heavy' her body felt) and was still acting lovingly while feeding her poison and she still has the gall to go gaga in his presence? After knowing all this??

If he was going to kill her, why not finish her off in one blow instead of making her suffer? And after she realized it, and realizes her husband was acting in her best interest, why not treat her husband better and distance herself from the sml? I don't believe she has any true feelings for sml. Nor he for her. To him, she's a means to an end.

I would rather trust a person who is blunt, honest and direct if albeit unlikable, than someone who feeds me poison in a loving manner. But that's just me.

I really dislike Zhang Linghe’s sideburns in this show. With the bun, it makes him look ‘greasy’ in some scenes. I wish he could shave it off.

I want to bet that Rongqing also came back from the past. He’s acting too sure of the Princess affections, like a man who already knows what the future will bring or what the past was.
