Title The Double
The husband didn't ruin her reputation. The princess ordered his mother and sister to do that, to force him to…
I think your explanation gives the husband too much of an out. That he was moved by circumstances beyond his control into killing his wife. That hitting her with a shovel was a spur of the moment decision. I call that BS. He was there when his wife was drugged, he even walked her to their bedroom in preparation for the staged rape. At any time he could have pulled the plug on what his mother and sister chose to do, but he went along with it for his selfish ends. He knew fully well that his wife would wake up from the drugged state to find herself 6feet in a grave covered with soil and suffocating to death. And he did not care. So I’m not moved by his so called guilt or his crocodile tears. As far as he is concerned he murdered his wife in His heart before he executed her physically. IT WAS PREMEDITATED. Later we find out that he and the princess had an arrangement. He would kill his wife while the princess killed his father in law. How tidy! Everything wrapped up in a neat bow.

Title The Double
Can anyone explain to me why FL ex-husband had to bury her alive and then hit her with a shovel??? Why he ruined her reputation as an adulterous wife before he killing her? If he wanted to get rid of his wife, there are a ton more empathetic and pain-free ways of killing his wife (not that I'm advocating for it) but I think if he gave her poison so she died in her sleep, it would have been much more peaceful than for her to wake up buried alive under 6 feet of soil. And why ruin her reputation? Unless that was an explicit request from the evil princess.

Truth is he could have refused the princess and run away with his wife, mother and sister, he may never have had a comfortable life, but they have always been poor and they could have managed. But I don't believe he was interested in saving his wife at any point. So, no matter how much remorse he has and no matter how much the story later paints him as pitiful, he chose to off his wife in the most brutal way possible and make himself look like a saint mourning the death of his 'adulterous' wife. Unforgivable, as far as I'm concerned, he's a piece of trash.

It's not the responsibility of actors (KHY) who've made the effort to learn their craft to improve the skills…
My statements in no way contradict yours. I have never said she is not talented and does not deserve more. Quite the opposite, in fact, if you read through my statements to understand what I mean.

But unfortunately real life does not work that way. And I would not call the people whose acting is elevated because of a true talent amongst their midst 'leeches', I would call them fortunate. It's not Byeon Woo Seok's fault that the public has no interest in his co-star even though, she did a lot of heavy lifting in that show.

Why do actresses feel pressure to go under the knife to change their features? It's to build an image for themselves above the ordinary person and drum up interest from the public in them so they can have more promotional activities like varieties, photoshoots and CFs. This is not the fault of the actor, it is the fault of the system. However, it is the reality in which we live, that the average hardworking person gets overlooked by someone who fits a perception of glamour, even though they are less talented and have benefitted from association with the talented person. It is not fair, but it is the way the world works.

And I'm in no wise envious of Byeon Woo Seok's astronomical rise to fame. He's living in a bubble right now, and as bubbles go, it will eventually burst and the true test of his staying power is how he parlays his rise to fame with future work and performances. A lot is riding on him right now and he's at a stage where whatever choices he makes in the future could make or break him.

In contrast KHY's career trajectory is rising slowly but steadily. It may not be as rapid as others, but she is building a solid base which will serve her well in the future. I'd much rather be in her shoes. She has time to build a solid career, and with less pressure and expectations, she is freer to make mistakes, learn from them and grow as an actor. All that glitters is not gold. She's building her reputation the hard way, but I don't doubt that if she continues acting, she will eventually catch true recognition for her work.

‘Leech?’

That’s a strong word.

You can keep your anger at her lack of credit or recognition for her work to yourself. The truth is great and talented actors almost always rub off on the people they are playing with. It’s a testament to their incredible acting. Unfortunately, the public may know this, but it doesn’t always translate into good or stellar opportunities for those great actors.

KHY has a chameleon-like quality to immerse herself in her roles, but unfortunately for her, outside of acting, she’s quite ordinary. So ordinary, that the public barely notices her outside of her dramas. This presents a problem, because it means that while she will always be a solid, reliable actress, she will never be a star.

A star quality, is one in which the audience is curious about you, outside of the drama and want to know more about you. There are many non-talented actors, who have charisma and the star quality, the public goes crazy for. There are some stars who excel in both and are very talented actors. And then you have the category of highly talented actors who the public really don’t care about. They end up becoming ‘character actors’, the backbone of the acting industry, and may make a name for themselves, several years later and after playing a vast number and variety of roles, compared to their more glamorous counterparts. Sucks. But that is life. It’s why the acting stalwarts in dramas who play supporting roles have my utmost respect.

First rule of a mini-series, always make the main lead sympathetic, and if not sympathetic, relatable. The audience needs to care about the characters in the show so we can empathize with and understand their growth, thoughts, actions and choices.

This drama fails woefully in this respect. None of the characters are relatable, non evoke empathy, maybe the main male lead a bit, because he lost his brother. But the way the story is told in parts and piecemeals doesn't evoke the audience interest in its characters. It reminds me of a poorly made "Boys Over Flowers" with none of its charm or relatability. I kept asking myself why I am bothering to watch this drama when there are a plethora of other dramas that would entertain me better. Couldn't find a good reason, so I ended up dropping it.

It's the responsibility of each actor to master their craft by themselves. No one can improve another person's acting if that person is not willing to learn. But sometimes, lead actors can elevate the entire cast by their good performance. Actors/Actresses who are wiling to learn can always pick up things from their colleagues which will enhance their own acting. No one lives in isolation, we all rub off each other for the good or the bad.

Rated 8.5 just for Daddi Tang. The plot made the female lead too stupid at times, it's amazing that she didn't get caught earlier on. Leads had good chemistry, though. The could have done with more kisses and hugs and they really could have done away with that annoying maid who keeps sticking her nose where it doesn't belong.

Wife wouldn't have been suspicious of the husband if the maid had kept her mouth shut. She contributed to the misunderstanding between the couple.

Ep16. I'm really annoyed with that Gongyang character. I really hope he will meet his downfall soon or his whole…
She must have backers that expanded her role because I'm yet to see such an intrusive maid in any other drama. How she has the audacity to wake up the couple who are already in bed by coming uninvited to their room several times a night. Someone really needs to tell her off. I wonder that her bosses put up with her.

Original version has them in love triangle. The 2005 version has more romantic interaction between ML & 2FL. This…
Ewww. That's a major turn off for me.

How did he know kissing THH was the way to revive her?
I think that was what it was. It seemed they were under water and she wasn't breathing at the time.
On Sword and Fairy 1 May 30, 2024
Why do I often feel the ML is ‘cheating’ with the 2FL whenever FL is away? They are always filming pseudo romantic scenes without the normal ‘friends’ vibe that makes me feel icky watching them. Even the ML said he’s aware 2FL had feelings for him.

Not that I blame them, not with the FL constantly running away from the ML with the slightest excuse every chance she gets.

And 2FL always using that as a reason to chase after ML when she KNOWS he’s in love with someone else.

What a messy script! I’ve rarely seen romance more sloppily written! Ugh! How frustrating! And WHAT an ending.

The problem is people are too blind towards their idol. .....there are many worst dramas released in 2023 but…
No hate. I completely agree with you. But different strokes for different folks.

I'm so in for I Na's love story 😂❤️
Yeah, she's the highlight of the whole drama. Other than her arc, everything else is just boring. I'm not interested in Da Hee's and Gwi Joo's romance. It already appears quite forced and anticlimactic.

She’s still telling Da Hee to run away
I don't think she cares about the family's non-existent money which the grandma has probably lost a lot of. She's more concerned about Da Hee's wellbeing. In some ways, I hope Da Hee pays a price for joining that family. She doesn't have altruistic reasons for being there, she is a scammer after all.

In episode 3, why does everyone keep taking off Yi-na's glasses, even though it makes her uncomfortable? Is it…
I know right? it's highly intrusive. I wear glasses and if anyone dared broach my personal space to put their hands on my glasses, they are risking me planting them a facer!

I started this drama with little to no expectations and found it surprisingly beautiful, charming, wistful and interesting. The drama was so beautiful but too short. It left me feeling nostalgic about my childhood in a town with a life much slower than where I'm currently living.

I wish they had delved longer on the reunion, I would have loved to hear what they had to say to each other.

Male lead is total eye candy. I find him breathtakingly beautiful. I keep reminding myself to breathe when I see him on screen - with that long hair - even with shorter hair he looks older, but still as beautiful.

Honestly, this is the way to end a romantic drama well. Other dramas take note. Boiler template for a deeply satisfying ending. Everything wrapped up nicely without any dragging, skipping, or plot holes.
