This is how to make a drama! The ending was PERFECT! No matter what flaws a drama has, as long as the ending is satisfying, flaws in the journey can be overlooked. The pacing was great, there were no loose ends, and we left all the characters in a happy place. Makes me wish for a second season of this. PDnim please note.
Like many a āhistoricalā Cdrama, the ending is bittersweet, which always affects the rewatch value for me. I will liken this to The Long Ballad as a drama I was fanatical about while it was airing but donāt bother to go back and rewatch as I didnāt care for the ending of that drama either.
Why does Lanxi have to die after 10 years? And why do they both have to give up their thrones to proxies without even an heir to carry on their legacies? These are my biggest beefs with the show. To some degree I can accept Huang Chao being the Emperor as he was hungrier for the position than they were and deserves the role, but I would have preferred they hung on to their king/queen ship.
Also Han Puās death broke my heart. Totally unnecessary. Wouldnāt it have been better to see him set up a clinic treating patients? He was the last surviving member of an illustrious medical family, and all his knowledge died with him. When I think of all these, itās small wonder that I wonāt revisit the drama.
they treat suicide like it is a math problem with a very clear answer and that could perpetuate wrong notions…
Thumbs up for your comment. These quick fixes and easy wrap ups are major flaws of the series and why it doesnāt resonate with a large majority of its audience. Although I applaud the drama for having the guts to bring up controversial issues.
Hmmmm. They have to use somebodyās name. Iām pretty sure that whatever name they used, even fictional, would…
Did you actually read the names on the list or are you just basing it on hearsay? I saw a screenshot of the names, but since I donāt read Hangul, I cannot say if their exact birthdates were used. As an impartial third party observer who has no stake in the game, Iām reading two very different versions of what transpired. I really would like to know exactly what was written down.
OK ep 14. Their love is so deep for each other, in a healthy way, they are willing to do whatever. Their story…
One of the things that I find most triggering about the episodes is that in some cases the people who drove the other people to suicide seems to get off with lighter punishments than the victims who actually killed themselves. I mean, what was the punishment for the Governor and his guards for molesting Ryung Gooās mother? What is the punishment Park Jung Gilās mother for providing her daughter in law with a knife and telling her to kill herself? It would have been deeply satisfying to see them get their comeuppance, not just death but greater punishment.
Ep 8 just felt too light to me. They should have made this into 2 episodes, and shown us how the victim tries…
I believe you have hit upon a fundamental flaw with this show. The way they wrap up some of the problems is just too simplistic. Itās like placing a band aid over a gaping wound. Small wonder why the issues lose their impact and the ratings are declining. There really should be follow up scenes, like therapy, counseling, more investigation by police, more court scenes and so on to give issues a more realistic sense of closure.
Imagine you're watching a show and suddenly see your parent/child/friend/family member's name in a list of homicide…
Hmmmm. They have to use somebodyās name. Iām pretty sure that whatever name they used, even fictional, would coincide with somebodyās mother/sister/brother or child. Especially in Korea where the names are so common and similar sounding.
I honestly donāt understand what the hoop-ha is about. Korean names are very common, a large majority of Koreanās share the same names, and birthdates. A whole drama series was even dedicated to this: watch āAnother Miss Oh Hae Youngā for more context. So if the idol in question does not have his face attached to the name, itās safe to assume it might refer to someone entirely different.
No wonder this site crashed a few hours ago. I came here to see if there were comments on the last aired episode of Tomorrow and all I can find are endless comments of BTS from armies. Iām a little amazed at how K-pop crossed over into a site for kdrama comments. Smh. Iāve no comments on that issue as Iām not a fan, but wanted to ask if anyone thought that Kim Hee Sun looked too old for Lee Soo Hyuk in historical dress. She could pass for his aunt or his mother. No offense to Hee Sun who I think is a phenomenal actress, but whoever did her styling and make up in the Joseon era certainly aged her. Quite distracting for the viewer and kept pulling me out of the story. Although in modern era, they could pass as lovers.
This drama is excruciatingly bad and is a wake up call to all abused women. Everyone, abuse is not love. The female lead needs to check herself into a psych ward as she needs help. She needs to love and value herself. Who wrote this garbage? And is calling it romance? Tsk tsk.
Exactly, i wanted Lan Xi to me more humane and less prince atleast for a day. He should have be angry, disappointed…
I think itās because he was sure that his feelings carried no weight with his dad. A good example is when Feng Ju tried to kill Lanxi. His father dismissed it with a slap on the wrist, although Lanxi pleaded and pleaded. And see how his father in effect crippled him by removing his inner force - something that must have been agonizing for Lanxi to bear. I donāt blame him for not speaking up, and treating his father as king, as a stranger, because his fatherās own actions has shown Lanxi just how much the King truly regarded him - as a threat and a usurper.
I wish I could say I felt sorry for the king, but I really donāt. He could have avoided the turn of events if he had been fairer to his sons and didnāt play favorites. He spoiled Feng Ju so much and punished Lanxi so severely that Feng Ju grew insecure and outrageous. What an irony that the very people the King cherished the most were the ones who turned against him. Stupid man!
I was heart struck by Lanxiās bewilderment when his father asked him to sit close to him, which just showed that the king never showed any true affection to his son before. And he complained of distanceā¦.if I were Lanxi, I would be distant as well. He was always a king to him first before he was a father. What a shame!
Although Son Seok Koo is outstanding in his portrayal of enigmatic Mr. Gu, I hope that audiences donāt underrate the much needed insight and comedic relief brought by Lee Min Ki to his role as the glass-full, witty Chang hee. The role of unfettered, normal, everydayman Chang hee is not easy to play because itās an open, normal character. Nothing special about him. Actually, without his scenes, I highly doubt that the last two episodes would have been as impactful as they were. I checked the rankings for buzzworthy performances for this week, but his name was nowhere to be found, which I thought a huge shame as his acting is brilliant in the drama.
